Is the weather set fair over Rye way ? According to a couple of forecasts I've seen it should be cloudy at worst ( with a chance of meatballs of course ) Also just checked Rye's website and still no preview only a few hours from tapes up . So it appears both teams promotions are just as good as each other about keeping fans informed on forthcoming events !

The Speedway season for most teams starts at the end of March and runs through to mid October. Theoretically that should be more than plenty enough time to complete all the fixtures required by a date in mid September to leave time for the playoffs at the end . However , as we know the league cup is run early almost as a pre season warm up tournament and the Prem league doesn't start properly till about month after that . Therein lies the problem , it's not Rocket science ( no pun intended Rye fans ) to work out a fixture list that incorporates the most important matches first to make sure the yearly farce of uncompleted meetings doesn't effect the overall league at the end of the season ! Obviously some teams will have alot more cancellations than others due to weather etc , not so many for other bizarre medical reasons but I think it would only take a minor effort in re-organization at the highest level and we wouldn't be having any of these problems or arguments in mid August about fixture congestion . I think it's time for a rethink when it comes to fixture list planning so , SORT IT OUT !!! Note , as long as the Witches make the playoffs !

I think I have to agree with the Bald ones much earlier post , no Gino no win . Now his non participation been confirmed im definitely less than confident of the Witches getting anything from this . Won't stop me being there though . Looking forward to it .

Still no previews to be found on either teams website so we have to assume they want it all to be a lovely surprise at 7pm tomorrow as to who is riding.

According to Leicester website preview against Lakeside we have Adam Saturday , it specifically mentions that he is required by Ipswich who have a meeting at Rye ! So that only leaves the question mark over Ginos participation .

The word Professional implies payment for doing a job which is strictly true but hey I know exactly where you're coming from ! I can understand Rye being a tad slow in previewing the meeting , after all they only had one last night but the Witches website bods and promotion have no excuse , nothing new there then !

According to Gino's own website " Gino Manzares Racing " his personal fixture list has him doing both . But as you say speculation is always rife when nobody tells us anything !

Is Gino not available ? Bugger , I thought we were at full strength for this one . Just looked and it's in Poland on Sunday 17th , is he definitely not riding or is it an assumption that he won't be available for Saturday ?

Ok, this one is a tester for Rye fans pockets being the third home meeting in the space of 8 days for the Rockets but how do we think this will pan out? In their two previous visits to the launch pad this season the Witches have been comfortably beaten in the league cup and squeaked a narrow victory in the first Premier league encounter. This one could well be decided by which Witches and which Rockets teams turn up, both have been very erratic form wise and I have absolutely no idea what the end result is likely to be! It could be anything from a big home victory to a half decent away one. Opinions???

The top half of the league is developing nicely now with the Monarchs off the top for just about the first time this season. I think the current top 3 in no particular order have safely secured their playoff places so it's down to 6 teams to fight for the final 3 spots. Have Ipswich and Scunthorpe got enough points in the bag, are Newcastle and Redcar out of it and will Peterborough and particularly Workington complete enough meetings to make it? Who knows, our wonderful British weather might be the ultimate winner in deciding this debate!

Maybe I should change the title of this thread to , " Who will complete enough meetings to make the playoffs " ? Is there a definitive answer to the cut off date yet ? Somebody has mentioned 14th Sept previously , just wondering if this was a guess ?

The Witches So much promise , so little delivered for me im afraid . Richie Worrall , gone backwards from last year's excellent season and hasn't been the true no1 I had hoped for ( better of late ) . Only my opinion though . Ritchie Hawkins , kicked on well this year and was always going to be good value when he started in a reserve position . Morten Risager , certainly a decent season so far upping his average , a solid main team rider usually good for a reasonable few points . Gino Mandates , the Witches signing of the season , very solid at home but still learning how to ride and what setups are required for some away venues . Rohan Tungate , a tad disappointed he's not improved his average , I think he may have reached his level in the PL . Great when he gates but never seems to pass anyone when he doesn't . Cameron Heeps , a huge disappointment this year , lost over 2pts on last years ave . Occasional decent ride but overall a very poor season . Adam Ellis , arrived with a real racer reputation , not delivered , stayed about the same as last season , no improvement . Again disappointing . So overall , a team with so much potential has not really produced the goods , been incredibly inconsistent and may just about make the playoffs .

Much as it pains me to say it I think the ultimate playoff winners are already sitting at the top of the league ! Unless of course they suffer a load of injury problems which I wouldn't wish on any team no matter who they are .

Look on the bright side , you've got the Witches there next week and you're bound to win that one .

Well , all league points safely secured but we certainly made harder work of it than it should have been . There were a few slightly iffy performances at times by some of the Witches riders , fortunately most of the Rockets were worse ! Richie W, looked good all night Ritchie H , excellent captains performance Morten , slow start good finish Gino , consistent as ever Rohan , great when he gates but didn't kook like he could pass wind Cam , looked slow again Adam , not convincing for me However , overall pleased with the win and looking forward to the trip to Rye on the 16th where I will not be sampling the shocking fish and chips after having had them on my last visit !

You might have some competition for that honour from Sheffield or even Plymouth so you can't say you've got that sewn up yet. As a side issue I'm afraid the hoped for monsoon hasn't been forthcoming but there's still time. I'm taking a brolly in as a possible shower appears on the odd weather forecast.

Any ideas on whether this will mean a reshuffle in riding order for the Rockets or will Marc Owen just slot in at 5 ?

Foxhall is renowned for having its own micro climate being at least 20'c colder inside the stadium than the carpark but I don't think a monsoon is on the cards. Where did the Marc Owen guests for Mellgren come from? I can't find anything anywhere, probably not looking in the right place.

So how do we think this is going to pan out with the apparently revitalised Witches taking on the recently revamped Rockets. Personally I think if the recent form of the Witches continues it should be a comfortable home win and another 3 league points secured, well hopefully anyway! You never really know with the Rockets though and they could just as easily come to Foxhall and surprise everyone. So what do we think then?
