What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?
Super Blue replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Full teams once the visa issues are sorted! -
Has somebody stated somewhere that we haven't got the sponsorship licence back yet?
-
Would be nice to know how Gino meets the criteria though, Rohan is obvious on his average.
-
I know it's all about opinions but for me Ellis has much potential but yet to deliver, personally I think riding for Lakeside is having a negative effect on his development.
-
I can see the first few weeks of the season descending into a complete farce at this rate ! Normally they say no news is good news but unfortunately in this case it seems to be completely the opposite . We should all be getting restless by now for the season to start again after the long break but personally im dreading the thought of half baked teams everywhere full of guests or blank spaces in the programs . It's really depressing when a so called professional sport can't get its house in order .
-
Nobody knows for sure , that's why I asked but no reply yet . There are plenty of bods on here with much greater inside knowledge of rules , regs , criteria etc than alot of us mere mortals and no one as yet can come up with a definitive cast iron reason by which Gino qualifies . So much for the promotion keeping us informed .

What The Visa Issues Could Mean For Teams.
Super Blue replied to doners1234's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
But how many state championships are there and how many decent riders are there in each of those states ? You could end up with good quality riders not making it in the top four in one and complete dross making the top four in another ! Therefore depending on where somebody happens to live in Oz is directly relevant as to wether they can meet the qualifying criteria to ride in the UK . Hardly seems fair to be refused a visa on that basis to me ! But how many state championships are there and how many decent riders are there in each of those states ? It might only be a holiday visa? Would have thought it would be common knowledge by now if it was a work one.
-
Well I've used the "contact us" section on the Witches website to try and get some clarification on the visa situation for Gino and Rohan quoting the Mike Bacon shouldn't be an issue comments. I'm now taking bets on :- 1 Will I get a reply at all? 2 What the response will be? 3 Will the mud be any clearer? So what whats my chances then? Will keep you posted, don't hold your breath!
-
That's a bit cynical Baldy! How could you think such a thing? The Gino situation is a tad baffling though, Rohans obviously fine from his average but Ginos situation is as clear as mud to use an old fashioned expression. The sooner someone gives a definitive answer as to why there are "no issues" the better! At least all the speculation and arguments would stop.
-
Is it a case that neither rider can even travel here until they have the full visa or can they come over as a visitor until the work visa comes through ? Having never traveled to a country that requires a visa of any kind I have no ideas on how such matters work .
-
Hmmm , my dilemma deepens . It's gonna be tight on time to get from Foxhall to Portman road in time for kick off , especially if we get too many incidents . Problem is I like both sports equally and having already paid for the football it makes deciding harder . Plenty of time to ponder though .
-
That's Bisto not mustard!
-
Oops , certainly a dilemma for me if it is a 3-00pm kick off ! I always look forward to speedway restarting after a long winter and especially to Good Fridays but I've already paid for the football in my season ticket . Think on this occasion with the uncertainty on Gino and Rohan and Dannys probable absence I might just wait and see where I end up . Or I could be really selfish and do some serious rain dancing and get the best of both worlds !!
-
Well I had plans of doing the Good Friday double header but I don't think I'll bother now .

And you don't think British Speedway is on its knees?? -
Side issue, just seen on twitter that in the World cup, Team GB will face Australia USA and Latvia at Kings Lynn. Would Gino be allowed to ride in this if he's refused a visa for us?
-
So when are we going to hear officially then ref Rohan and Gino's visa's? If Mike Bacon is being told by CL that theres no issues why is it not being confirmed somewhere so we can all relax? Other teams appear to be able to update their fans!
-
I've obviously not gone into as much of the nitty gritty as alot of others clearly have but it springs to my mind that in most other sports if you compete at the highest levels for your country of origin that usually qualifies you for a visa. With Gino having been a representative for the USA in last years World Cup does that not have an impact somehow? Forgive me if this has already been covered elsewhere but going through all the pages/arguments on the visa issues is becoming quite mind numbing.

19th March , typical ! Missed last years opener ( Mortens testimonial ) due to a family 50th birthday . This year I won't even be in the country and won't be back for the trip to Rye on 21st either . Mind you there is a certain appeal to being somewhere warm as opposed to freezing at Foxhall in March . I'm also guessing the 19th will be Rye as I'm sure Good Friday will be a Panthers double header . if so let's hope we don't get double gubbed again this year .
-
If they did contemplate moving the starting gate im sure it would only be temporarily as the plan I believe is to fully redevelop the current starting side stand as well . Alot of money has been put in to the upgrading of Foxhall so far by the owner and it will be a very impressive stadium when finished ! It's already used for world stock car events and hopefully in the future maybe a major Speedway event or two ?
-
I heard from somewhere that the track was going to be changed to have extra banking for 2015 , not quite sure how that's going to be achieved though being inside a solid stock car track . If it's true and comes to fruition it should at least create a few more lines for passing . If there's enough material that is ?
-
To a degree I concur with the Bald one , we could be anything from brilliant to absolutely shocking depending on how some of the riders return from the winter break . There's one he'll of a lot of potential in the side but no guarantees that they will produce when the chips are down .
-
I'd like to say well done to Rohan for coming 2nd in his latest competition in Australia , apparently Doyle gated in the final only for Rohan to get past him but then get overtaken towards the end of the race .
-
Merry Christmas to one and all !!
