  1. Having seen Connor Coles a couple of times this season I believe has a bright future in the sport but is he really the best we can do for such an important meeting? Ellis Perks has been here recently and scored a few for Plymouth, is it just the fact he let us down or have Edinburgh somehow managed to get first dibs on him? It makes me wonder especially as we helped Plymouth out with the air fence.
  2. Think that might be because they then need to find dates for the playoff meetings, just a guess mind.
  3. Who's paying for it, when is it being presented and by who then?
  4. Now now, lets leave Morrissey Fan out of this discussion !
  5. Slowly but surely all the team have got on board with the Massif. Even Danny Ayres when guesting was quick to acknowledge our existence. It's gonna be a difficult one to pick and have to be done quickly unless the plan is to get someone along to the end of season party for a presentation. Perhaps we could try and get a big turnout at the do?
  6. Must admit I hadn't realised quite that many NL teams were in action, I think we did well to get anybody at such short notice.
  7. Missing 1 from your current officialy listed 1 to 7 but hey don't let facts get in your way !
  8. Didn't do too badly for a 4 man team, better than I expected. After some suggestions that on Thursday Newcastle were weakened so badly missing 1 rider well we were missing 3 tonight so perhaps it might be close if we were to meet again.
  9. Not sure it's even worth checking the scores on updates as it won't mean a thing . It's just a case of how big the battering is , four riders are never going to win a meeting , no disrespect to the two reserve guests . Let's hope as near to full strength as possible is back on Thursday.
  10. Easy home win now Newcastle are up to full strength on their own track but in a meeting where it doesn't really matter. I think the Witches will use it as a warm up in case we meet again later in the playoffs. Mind you we have to get past the haggis munchers first.
  11. So what happened to bringing me some of the buffet round guys , I waited all night after sending muffins and snacks round with Baldy and nothing arrived . Anyway , mission accomplished in the meeting with a few hiccups/tapes/engine failure/seats coming loose and not firing on all cylinders but playoffs achieved as required ! Newcastle fans saying they had an off night but we had misfiring reserves tonight , Joe not himself and poor Scott Campos had his confidence knocked after falling while 2nd in ht 2. We now have another meeting to look forward to next week with Eddyburgh coming to the Heath in the playoffs . Let's hope we can get a guest reserve who can score a few points and give ourselves a decent lead to take to Scotland .
  12. So what rule stops us from using Perks then if Campos is coming in for him ? He's a premier league 3.00pt average rider.
  13. Maybe I will tomorrow, lets get some idea of interest and numbers tonight amongst the collective first to see if it's viable. Obviously no commitment at this stage lets just see who might be up for it. There may also be one or two that are not even on here that could be tempted, you never know.
  14. Gotta remember that the 2 grand would probably be plus vat, they tend to do that kind of thing as business bods can claim vat back under corporate entertainment expenses and such like. Not that I want to put a dampener on things as I could be quite interested myself if it was economically realistic.
  15. Alas Spedeworth own the boxes so negotiation might be a little bit more tricky . The people who use the boxes for speedway are season long holders for all events . Not sure about a kettle but I'm pretty sure you get a fridge and tables\chairs .
  16. After my discussion yes you do still have to pay admission.
  17. The disabled shelter on the first bend could be converted to a buffet area, was just an idea. Anyway, sorry guy's and gals but given my inability to drive to the the shops I can't see myself contributing towards the food supply so have a good one and I look forward to seeing everyone waddling by me overloaded with full stomachs. I did make a casual enquiry as to how much the VIP boxes cost to hire, wont go into details on here but you can always ask me later on your way past when dropping off a sausage roll or cupcake if you like!
  18. Slightly different from getting totally knocked out of the playoffs but I see where you're coming from. However a win for Sheffield over a seriously depleted Scunny tonight will pretty much secure their place anyway if I'm honest. Even if Peebro were to arrange their fixture at Edinburgh in time for the cutoff I can't see them coming away with anything anyway. All I know is a win for the Witches tomorrow and we're in which was only a pipe dream for us only a few weeks ago.
  19. Hopefully you're right, he managed to score in all bar one of his rides on the recent visit of Plymouth so he's probably just about the best choice of those available. Another choice could have been Nathan Greaves but I couldn't really see Sheffield wanting one of their riders helping us knock them out of the playoff picture. I hope he does we'll for us.
  20. So what exactly are the rules on a replacement for Danyon for this meeting ? Can we just get someone like James Shane's/someone who qualifies as a 3pointer from the national league or does it have to be one of the premier league 3pt riders ?
  21. We ain't had much luck with our No7's this season! All the best Danyon, get well soon lad! Time to scour the National league again, or are we restricted to current 3pt average riders for guests at this stage of the season? I know there's a point where you are not allowed to sign new riders just not sure when it is.
  22. How Sheffield get on could change where we finish .
  23. I suppose tonight's ideal result for us would be for Rye to beat Sheffield so we are one step closer to the playoffs.
  24. Good grief, somebody saying we look a strong team, that's a first, we were the whipping boys home and away early in the season but to be fair since the team changes at home we've looked unbeatable! I still think it'll be a tough test on Thursday and I'll be more than happy with any kind of win if I'm honest. And at this stage of the season it doesn't matter to us if Newcastle take a point or not. I'm going for a 6-10pt margin home win.
