  1. OMG, I need to find somewhere else to be than in front of the box. Hoofball, not for me.
  2. Currently the Ipswich Town and Football Club expressions are a contradiction in terms! They maybe hoofing a ball around but it ain't football.
  3. Will say " Happy New Year " to one and all, I hope 2017 is a good one for everyone!
  4. Now all teams have been completed for 2017 lets take a look. With the limit now set at 40 pts there seems to be a reasonable split between those going for top heavy and those going for strength in depth. The way most teams are set up I think there will be alot less away wins as most look like they are going to be strong on their home shale. It's all about opinions of course and we are all going to be biased to our teams but here's my thoughts. Going alphabetically Berwick, Solid at home, struggle away, a number of seasoned riders, may kick on to upper table but probably end up somewhere in the middle. Edinburgh, Good at home, poor away, may produce an odd surprise if new boys up their game but mid table again for me. Glasgow, Strong top 3, long tail but with improvement potential, alot of home pts, away hmmm dunno. Definitely in the playoffs. Ipswich, Strong top end, potentially weak reserves initially (coming back from injuries) Ought to be strong at home and in the playoffs come the end of the season. Newcastle, Solid top end, again possibly weak at reserve spots, should see off most opposition comfortably at home and could be around the playoff vicinity. Peterborough, Built around strength in depth, probably unbeaten at home but get some poundings on the road. Hard to predict where they'll finish. Redcar, Could be a dark horse and surprise everyone or be down the bottom, I'm not going to speculate on what league position they will end up in. Scunthorpe, For me in the lower reaches of the final table, not enough strength to put up a consistent realistic challenge to be at the top end. Sheffield, Strong in depth side that should be challenging at the top of the league for the title. Take them lightly at your peril. Workington, A great No1 but a very long tail to the side, will do well at home but get some batterings away, IMO going to finish pretty low down. With the way the league is set up and God forbid as few serious injuries as possible it's going to be an interesting season with alot of pretty evenly matched teams. Only my opinion so currently awaiting the flak from those I haven't rated very highly.
  5. In your dreams! Merry Christmas Mr Wagon wheels 🎄
  6. Merry Christmas to one and all, have a great time, already looking forward to the next get together and the new season! Jingle 🔔,s 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄
  7. Yes, a Merry Christmas 🎄 to all fans and teams everywhere, including all the Muppets who post on here. It's the time of goodwill to all!
  8. I reckon we could give them a good run for their money at Foxhall but it would be a tad one sided at Lynn. All assuming that they were to field a full team of course.
  9. Would definitely be good for the guys if true to get some track time with the shape being changed a bit. Wouldn't want to go straight into a league season without as much practice as possible. No buffer of the league cup to get used to it.
  10. Another enjoyable evening I believe was had even if the burgers were dirty, the all day breakfast was pretty good too!
  11. An Ipswich/Peterborough playoff final, now that would be fun if both sides haven't lost too many riders to injury during the season!
  12. The thing people still seem to be forgetting is that any riders worth anything next year will up there averages because the points limit is only 40 per team. Unless they have an absolute mare of a season they are bound to appear to improve even if they actually don't. Every fan will obviously have high hopes for their team and expect the best from them, unfortunately there will inevitably be the also rans who are shocking but Speedway has a points limit to try and start everything off on an even playing field. As a Witches fan although I have one or two reservations about riders returning from serious injury I know if they perform to the best of their ability they will be in the mix-up come the business end of the season. I really don't know why posters on here feel the need to slag off other teams and then start on posts that are not quite grammatically correct. We don't all have University degrees in English!
  13. If the new track shape and material works well for Nico you're probably right on that lineup given his lack of gating prowess. If not then there is the weakness when he rides with the reserves. But I'm sure we'll probably have to wait till just before the new season before we find out the official riding order.
  14. I think alot will depend where Rory rides in the team as far as his average goes, if at 5 he will mostly ride with a reserve so would pretty much always be beating his team mate, therefore higher scores. At 3 I'm guessing he'd be riding with Kyle who could finish ahead of him. If he starts well in my opinion he could be pushing Danny for the No1 race jacket at some point in the season. But it's all about opinions as I've said before.
  15. To be fair most of the regulars around the area I sit have been saying for some time that passing doesn't happen much unless it's someone who's very fast that's been outgated. Nico has struggled badly to pass slower riders because the lines just aren't there. Even Danny has had problems when he's had a bad gate so I think any work that's being done to improve the racing is admirable and necessary.
  16. Beerhuts young enough or Mini Hut with the right training!
  17. We need the youngest and fittest of our gang to shin up the poles when the're not looking and point the speakers at us, and point the lights at the speedway track. Shouldn't be too hard.
  18. Still a chance to prove how generous the Scots are then? Maybe not. Although on the wagon wheel front you are pretty good to be fair on you good sir. Beginning to sound like an an episode of dragons den.
  19. I'm guessing from the stunned silence the VIP box is now officially off the agenda?
  20. I hope so? Really enjoyed the last one and Sue said she'd like to come along (health permitting) to the next one if the venue is the same.
  21. Now the subject has resurfaced, I've made the necessary enquiries and I don't think it's gonna happen I'm afraid guys. It's not as cheap to hire a box for the season as we originally thought. It's wait for it, £3600 per 12 months plus vat which would mean over £4k just for the box and you'd still have to pay admission. £200+ per person for 20 people and sub letting can only be done through the local Spedeworth office. And then it would only be allowed for the 2 world final events. Also at the moment there's only a possibility of one becoming available anyway as for the stock cars they are currently all leased. I'm afraid for me personally it's a non starter so unless one of our merry band is alot richer than they are letting on I have not put my name down as yet if one was to become free.
  22. I appreciate that you only need to draw regularly and some in the team will have increased their averages which is why I said who knows thereafter. The 40pts limit is one of the reasons I can't understand why anyone asks the "where's the improvement coming from" question.
