I see on twitter that Poole have replaced Kyle with Paul Starke, must be worrying times for him as he's been struggling for us as well. As he only has one team now to earn from I wonder if that might be a gee up he needs to get his season going.

I know there are track prep bodies on this forum who could answer your question but when they've posted in the past all sorts of interesting discussions have taken place. So you'll probably not get them to respond unless they want to open themselves up to an in depth debate on why tracks are so good or bad?

If covers were used all over the leagues I'm sure a lot of meetings would be saved, however as has been said the manpower would be extensive, time consuming and would require some sort of reciprocal gestures from the promotions involved (like free admission for the helpers) and as we all know they don't like giving anything away! At Ipswich if a season ticket holder can't make a meeting they won't even let someone else use their ticket which I think is disgusting PR. However back to original thread I think they are a great idea that should be in much wider use!

Ipswich V Edinburgh Ch 8-6-17@7-30pm

Well after much thought I've decided that Edinburgh are actually better than I gave them credit for at the start of the season and I believed that they were going to take the win last night after 7 heats especially considering the subsequent withdrawal of Nathan Greaves from the meeting. However with some grit and determination the Witches managed to turn it around for a good win in the end. The whole meeting was much better than previous week against Newcastle and hopefully will continue to be better in the coming weeks. Rory's heat 13 was just what the doctor ordered after Danny's exclusion and shows it is possible to make passes at Foxhall. Connor stepped up nicely to score a few vital points and every one else chipped in after one or two had dodgy starts to the meeting. On the Edinburgh side I echo others comments about Pickering and Eric Riss although I do believe that the latter got away with a couple of real flyers from the gate. But it's all about opinions so onwards and upwards as they say. -

Dull but dry around Ipswich at the moment for anyone planning travelling to Foxhall. I think there's a chance of some wet stuff but it depends on which weather forecast you look at. -

At least the track should dry out after yesterday's rain as it's pretty bright and breezy around Ipswich at the moment. -

I'm glad we've got Justin Sedgmen then and not this other guy you're talking about. -

Fair comment, typo, date changed thanks. -
As it's a big one I thought I'd get this underway. Can the Witches keep up their 100% home record and deny the high flying Monarchs anything from the meeting? I believe we can. Edinburgh currently sit on top of the table and have pretty impressive form on the road this season but most of the other teams below are playing catch-up on both meetings and points. For me the result of the meeting could well depend on 2 areas within the Witches current team line-up. Firstly the current low ebb that seems to have hit the Sedgmen/Newman partnership, I like others have said believe they need splitting up and be paired with King and Heeps who are currently in very good form at home. Secondly can Mountain build on the points he scored last week and also when riding for Mildenhall at the weekend? I think that Edinburgh are currently doing alot better than most people thought they would this season (including myself) and will probably provide very tough opposition on Thursday. So here's to a good safe night for all concerned and hopefully we'll get some better racing than last week against Newcastle!

Well it is Edinburgh coming to town so at least should be another 3 league points in the bag. -

Must admit that last night's meeting was a shocker, delayed start, excessive falls and reruns and pretty poor racing. Not really what we pay hard earned money to go and watch! God knows what they need to do with the track to make more passing possible, I don't know but that's not my job. Hopefully things will improve and we see a decent meeting next week. -

The weather forecast isn't looking good for Worky later, saw national one on TV and its looking very doubtful. -
Was nice to read on updates of a last heat decider actually going our way for a change. Mind you I was hoping for a 4pt to help the league campaign. To actually get the win though when a couple of our top 5 were a tad off the boil was also quite pleasing. A few vital points earned by Nathan Greaves and the job was done, Just! The Witches have struggled a bit on the road so far so a win is always welcome.

A race point or 2? League points a bit tougher to come by as we're not a team of gating tarts! -

At least the promised rain has arrived in Ipswich, not particularly heavy yet but here nevertheless. A good call was made me thinks. -

After a sh1te start to the day it's been lovely, I would imagine that the track was in a bad way after last night though. Oh well, no speedway for a couple of weeks now. -

I've spent some time trying to find a positive weather forecast for tomorrow night and I'm drawing a blank. Most saying varying chances of rain during the day but evening not good, heavy rain. Probably another late call off while sitting in the car park 😠 -

You have to think Josh Grajczonek will score more than 6 this time around but will rr score the 8 Lasse got last time? Will Mountain score more than Shuttleworth? Will Sedgy score more than the 7 Nico got? Mind you, we used rr for Kyle and he could well get more than 5, so plenty of ifs and buts for Wednesday. -

On Wednesday we welcome again the Sheffield Tiggers for the 2nd Championship fixture long before we've even ridden half of the other teams once! It's weird having a home meeting on a Wednesday if it happens as so far the weather forecast is not looking good. Anyway, onto the meeting, I personally see no reason why the outcome of this one will be any different to their last visit but I'm always open to reasoned discussion. Both sides have differences this time around, who will be more effected I've no idea. For me The Witches look just as strong but for Sheffield RR for Lasse could work for or against them. Reserves wise Nathan seemed to settle in well last week so hopefully we'll at least be on par with the Tigers pair although they are forced into an injury replacement themselves at no7. So if it goes ahead, opinions?

My biggest concern at the moment with the team is the lack of confidence that young Connor Mountain has. He's definitely a talented lad but just can't get in right so far this year. As I said on the Scunthorpe meeting thread it seems to be a mindset thing, he's shutting off halfway down the straights and there's no attacking the bends at all, if anything he seems to be straightening up as he goes in. Somehow somebody has got to find a way to get him back to rider he was last season before his injury. Lets hope a solution can be found asap as assuming we get in the playoffs we can't have a non or very low scoring reserve being carried.
