  1. Have to say I am surprised at the haste of this decision. However, I'm sure Rosco knows what he's doing. At least I think i'm sure!
  2. Oh dear, you are sounding a bit desperate there. Its almost as if you are arguing the point even after you've realised you are wrong. In case you still haven't grasped it i'll explain again. As SteveO has said above, an e/f for an opposition rider removes a possible threat, even if the threat isn't, apparently, there at that precise moment. A threat removed is often going to excite a response from fans. If you are still struggling with the concept the next time you get along to a meeting just ask the person standing next to you, they'll happily explain how it works.
  3. Well, unlike at some tracks, there is always the possibility of being passed at Swindon. E/F equals chance removed. It ain't rocket science Bit early to be ringing the alarm bells on the team, but lets hope for an improvement soon! Not much used to this losing lark of late, are we!
  4. Chris, at his best, is a gutsy, heroic rider. Chris at his less good is something considerably below that. I think he is still young enough to make a considerable contribution to the sport but he needs to get his machinery consistently good and that will help with his confidence. And as with any sport confidence is such a big factor. I agree with the posters above who think he should accept he isn't a top class world beater. He should be happy to be a solid Team rider. Once he has done that life should be easier for him.
  5. Don't see any joke there. Its as its been said from the get-go. No knocking down of the old stadium until the new one is in place. If that doesn't happen the whole development will be halted. The Council put that in as a stipulation after representations from fans who had witnessed other stadiums being razed on the simple promise of a new one. That won't be happening here.
  6. I think Nick is going to have a cracking season. His talent is without doubt and now he has a bit of experience under his belt he is going to fly.
  7. Indeed. The best place to park is across the flyover down what was the old 419.
  8. That isn't what I read Orlov as saying. But then I noted his use of the word 'IF' which you appeared to ignore.
  9. Hate to say it but Reading were in such a hole financially its highly doubtful they could have gone on. And I equally hate to say it but we need to get behind our Club as a town too for fear it'll go the same way as our much missed chums from along the M4. It honestly saddens me that we'll not go to Smallmead ever again. Due to the good job done by fans in 2006 the Council were made very aware of the need to see a new Stadium built before all the houses are allowed to go ahead. I believe they will be allowed to build some before the new Stadium in order to part fund the new Abbey, but they certainly won't be building them all. As to noise, well, the Council very much see it as part and parcel of the towns recreation and sports amenities so I wouldn't worry too much about any noise complaints.
  10. Fear not I know exactly how they did those rolls. Take a bread roll. Slice in in half and spread butter. Get some very cheap cheese and slice liberally. Take one onion and slice into generous chunks. Place contents in roll and close the bread around it. There you go.
  11. Its quite simple really- We would all like him at Swindon but its very much up to him isn't it. As he says, he has to do whats right for him. And all this talk of contracts, well, its speedway so we know that they are by and large worthless.
  12. I remember seeing Chris win, as I recall, the Intercontinental Final on World Of Sport in around 80 or 81 I think. He was breathtaking when at full chat, as he was that day.
  13. Its been very easy to feel disappointed with the management of the Club this year. Personally i'd not have gone with Ashley given that horrible injury but they did- and now they've gone back on their word. Not impressive.
  14. You are welcome as regards Jason, sorry he's not coming back next year. As for Mads thank you!
  15. Mads always starts the season well and tails off at Swindon. We can do better i think. He would feel like a big step into a mediocre past to me.
  16. Unfortunately guys this is the upshot of a sport that can't pay its way. It is doing this, it seems, with the best of intentions. One, to quite simply survive and two, to bring kids on and create a pool of home riders that will make the sport more sustainable in the future. To wish for things to stay as they have been with every team fielding multiple big names is simply not realistic and would only hasten the demise of Clubs. Of course its not ideal, but its definitely preferable to losing more Clubs. Now its up to the fans to get behind it.
  17. Ouch, that actually made me wince. I really feel for you guys, I honestly do. I'm sure we all do. Fingers crossed for a good buyer to come along.
  18. I'd wanted to see Hans as a Robin for years- he didn't disappoint in any way! Good luck Hans, its been a privilege.
  19. I think Rosco has come on tremendously as a person and a manager over the last couple of years, He did, at times, get over defensive and did get a bit caught up with his ego at times. He has also learnt that he is part of the team, win OR lose, which was not something that came easily to him. He did have the habit of holding his hands up and saying 'i don't ride the bikes'. Ok, thats fine. Then stand back when the plaudits are being handed out for success. As I say, that was how he used to be. He's come on since then. The Team GB job? Sure, why not.
  20. I remember Pete buying me a pint at Brandon one time! He didn't know me from Adam! Top bloke- and not just cos he bought me a pint. Though that definitely helped!
  21. Welcome back Pete! Top bloke and a good promoter imo. I'm delighted he's back. Given the mess some clubs are currently in we can class ourselves very lucky indeed.
  22. Hard to know what to say about a sport that is in such a mess that Peterborough has come to this. I would say the Promotion does have a bit of a 'silly buggers' reputation and does play games but even for them this is extreme. My hopes are with you Pathers fans. This is when we are all, rivalry aside, fans of a sport on its knees and it isn't at all good to see.
  23. This is Mads Korneliussen we are talking about yea? :?
  24. And thats exactly what he likes about it. I'm sure Rosco feels he could get the best out of him! lol
