I seriously doubt that Terry or Rosco are in the loop at all. I've suspected this since 2006 and I still suspect it now. And Terry really does have egg all over his face with his recent protestations about rumour mongers! And Alun needs to seriously up his game on this too and be brave enough to pull his boss to one side and tell him that they are taking the piss out of the clubs supporters.

Swindon End Of Era Meeting.

Does anybody want to help me put Orion's fears at rest and do a spot of Fire-watching. Here is a training video that I just knocked up... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzFdvnE8v0Y We don't want any errant rockets from Penhill taking the old girl out, do we. You take the refs box and I'll watch the beer taps. -

Ok, thanks for clarifying for me. I'm happy to see there is a bit of wiggle room and your doubts about it being built at all aren't 100%. Personally I don't care if it isn't finished until the summer just so long as its built. -

There isn't one person out there who trusts Stadia UK. But most don't feel the need to relish the predicament with LOL's on their posts and such like. Its a odd situation for a fan to laugh at the situation I think. As I've said before, mystifying. And, by the by, nobody is right yet. There is a couple of big differences between Swindon and Reading. At Swindon the stadium is and has always been linked to a greater development that has been given consent as a whole. Indeed, the houses were only given consent on the back of the stadium going in. Also, Swindon has a Promotion that is viable and wishes to carry on. So your point is just that the stadium won't be built by, well, lets say May. I've always understood you to be saying it will never be built. -

I think you have always been one of the few to consistently talk sense about all of this, Orlov. You certainly don't need to be reminding me mate. Parking was always my biggest bugbear. Even after all building work has finished its going to be at a premium. -

But they will paint it as a turn of events. However, the events may not turn out as has previously worked for them. Terry has already made it clear he intends to run. He has said that money is not an issue. That has removed the excuse that 'speedway isn't viable' from the stadium owners. Now he is saying he will be more than happy to return to the Abbey while they finish the new one. Again, backing the owners into a corner. The council are well aware of history in places like Reading. So its to be hoped they will stay one step ahead. No, I'm feeling pretty good that Stadia UK has met its match. There is no reason why not. -

It does all feel like a game of chess. Each side manoeuvring and trying to back the other into a corner. This time the developers may just have met their match. We've seen the antics that they've pulled before so there is no reason why we can't be one step ahead. I hope!! -

That's the thing, Wacks, you knew where you stood. No doubt it sucked terribly, but there was no doubts. Anyway, it looks as if the farewell was more of a 'see ya next season'........ http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/13842393.New_stadium_held_at_the_red_tapes/ -
It annoys me that Rosco calls people questioning things 'negative'. Its not negative to want to see the Stadium owners come good on their promises and agreement. If Rosco is so bloody confident why doesn't he share the reason why with us? Why has he been singularly unable to settle nerves so far? I suspect the reason is he isn't in the loop one iota. He'd like to give the impression that he is but can't back it up. So, come on Alun, if you are in the know, as you'd like us all to think, when is construction starting?

I will excuse you though as Reading fan I'd have thought that you'd have understood why it was flat, It wasn't exactly a lottery win that we were celebrating. It was the end of Speedway in an old stadium that has been such a big part of Swindon life over many, many decades. It was nothing to do with Batchelor, trust me. As I say, I'm surprised you aren't grasping it but there it is. I guess you needed to be a Robins fan to feel it. If only they'd have got the new stadium started before yesterday I'm sure it would have been a different matter. Still sad, of course, but at least there would have been something other than promises to look to. -

Sorry we couldn't entertain you. As a Robins supporter It was all just very sad. As such the atmosphere was muted. Please forgive us. What is really sad is that we have a Promotion who wants to keep the sport going and a core support just about strong enough to sustain it here. Unlike in some town's there is no reason why speedway in Swindon needs to wither and die. -
I'd heard it was going to be similar to Somerset! I'd also heard the bends would be as now but much shorter straights. I reckon they have no idea what it will be till they come to mark it out! As Kirky says, whatever the size or shape lets get some banking back in. The Abbey was never the same when they razed some of the brilliant banking it used to have.

Oh Rosco always gets upset if people don't trot the line. Sorry, but he hasn't managed to calm nerves given there is no indication of a stadium going in, has he. And it really is his job to do so. Even correspondence from the Council says that they are concerned at the lack of progress. So I would say its Rossiter that is out of step on this one. I would hope he'll forgive us for being doubtful until we see construction work starting.

Matt Ford - One Of The Greats?
BuzzCagney replied to BWitcher's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
A modern great? Of course he is. An all time great? Well, that's harder to judge, isn't it. Speedway isn't the sport it once was, tragically, so how he would have fared in the 50's, 60's and into the following couple of decades when there were more teams is somewhat harder to judge. He has been great for Poole but probably less good for the sport as a whole. But that's hardly his fault. -

I seem to remember that John Davis guested for Hackney and got an unexpectedly low score one time. Not that there was any suggestion of anything underhand. Never! -
