  1. For a stadium that was due to be up and running next month it is still looking distinctly un-stadium like over in that little corner while yet more and more of the rest of the build is looking extremely advanced verging on finished. Some comments from those who would have us believe are in the know- i'm thinking of you Rosco- are due. Tomorrows meeting might be an ideal time.
  2. Only when things go well. When things go badly, incredibly, its nothing much to do with him.
  3. Good grief, the negativity! Lets get at least one more match under our belts before we write the whole season off, eh? !
  4. They deserve credit for the magnificent stadium, definitely, but wow, what a massive balls up they made of actually putting it to use!
  5. Its speedway so, to borrow a phrase from above, par for the course. Oh look, a speedway meeting ended in an embarrassing shambles. Really? Anyway, crap weather we've been having......
  6. It doesn't really feel like much of a new era. More like the same old, same old.
  7. Good find, Orlov, and thanks for the heads up. Personally I'm relieved the only difficulty appears to be parking so far. I was convinced they were going to engineer in all sorts of glitches! How did we get so mistrustful and cynical?!
  8. No, Rosco has trotted a line for months now that was patently wrong. He has to stop misleading the supporters with his wishful thinking. I'm embarrassed for him to be honest. Yea, Smallmead was so great with all its seats. So good they knocked it........... Oh, my heart isn't really in taking on the supporter of a long lost team with a long lost stadium. It wasn't fair of me really. Sorry.
  9. Smallmead an eyesore and a dumping ground? Never stopped them racing there before did it To be honest this reads like the most honest piece ever on the whole saga. CO seems to get it at last! And poor Rosco must be feeling a bit of a chump this morning. He doesn't know what is going on and can't appear to logically think it through for himself. I'd prefer he left his comments to talking team.
  10. But they aren't designed for a 20 year life never mind 70. Look at how bad Reading became quite quickly for proof of that. Its cheap and cheerful. Not built for a long life. Like so many buildings these day. Very quickly they become scruffy and expensive to upkeep.
  11. Bricks? There won't be anything so old fashioned as a brick to be seen. Remember, its "state of the art" latest thinking in building techniques. Its modular in design and assembled elsewhere and then transported to site and nailed together. As we used to call them, portakabins. With an extra plug for the TV camera guy. £6000,000? Yea, sure.
  12. Nice idea and good luck with that. But if all they want to do is bitch then its still pretty much just screw 'em. EDIT: Swindon, indeed speedway as a whole, needs to cut prices to attract fans back who have deserted the sport. Giving reduced admission to placate a few whiney neighbours isn't really the Big Plan the sport needs. In fact it might only serve to piss of long standing supporters who have been there through thick and thin. And thinner. And thinner again.
  13. Screw the neighbours. The speedway was there long before they were. Suck it up or move.
  14. We just have to hope the plans are genuinely designed to address the requirements and not another attempt to buy more time and ultimately just lay blame at the councils door.
  15. Indeed, he's going to want to get a wiggle on. At the rate things are moving its going to end up being called The Clarke Osborne Memorial Stadium. That would be very sad, after all of his hard work, to not actually be around to see it built.
  16. I have to laugh (well, more of a bemused shake of the head actually) at anybody who scores needless, unhelpful cheap points off fellow fans as if they are the enemy. The enemy here is the developers. It might help some to remember that.
  17. Week 1 of 2016 gone by and no news of any application having gone in. No doubt the houses are still being sold..........
  18. I'm sure Rosco will be the first to let us know. Whilst being the last to actually know anything himself.
  19. Looks like another deadline has gone by- didn't they say the paperwork would be in by the end of December? As far as I know it hasn't. I hope that doesn't come across as impatient! I know they've only had nearly 10 years now to get this done.
  20. I see they are using the, fully expected, old chestnut- the delays are not our fault! How original.
  21. We are aware of all of this. I'm sure you think you are being helpful, but........
  22. They certainly are taking their time getting the relevant applications in. If Osborne wasn't so very honest and keen about getting a new stadium one might almost begin to think he's a lying bulls hitter. Luckily we know that isn't the case. I mean nobody who is honest and upright would do such a duplicitous thing as to pocket all that money from the sale of the houses and not make good on their end of the agreement re: a new stadium. They'd not be able to sleep at night, would they. Maybe Osborne's dog chewed the paperwork up? I'm guessing its something just as embarrassing as that. Maybe his secretary forgot to post the forms off to the council. Yes, that will be it. Oh how they'll laugh when they realise why the council hasn't been in touch with them. They must be chomping at the bit to get that stadium started. I can picture the builders just standing outside Clarke's office, shovel in hand, waiting for the Big Man to give the word. "The Council have said yes boys- now lets get the stadium we've promised the town built". Osborne must be so excited to get his new stadium. I mean he's worked so hard to get it over the last 9 years, hasn't he. It will be the realisation of a dream for him. Maybe it should be called the Osborne Arena? Its the least we could do for a man who has promised us so much. Luckily the whole situation isn't making me cynical.
  23. Poole will be next. No track is safe from Stadia UK. A nice bit of housing land there.
