  1. Looks like ideal sound deadening. Or a great (free) vantage point!
  2. Yes, they don't get it still and probably never will. The problem (if problem is the correct word) is that there is a basic and all important difference between how we view the EU and how most (certainly the politicians) on the continent view it. They are sworn to ever closer political union where as to us it has always been about economics. They just can't seem to grasp that becoming part of a United States of Europe is, at a very basic level, simply wrong to most Brits. And those that did vote remain are in denial about where the EU is, was, trying to drag us.
  3. Was it Orion that had it at a 1 in 100 chance of happening? I wish I'd put a few quid on it at those odds! I told you that we'd cling to that 1%. It was the deciding factor by the looks of it!
  4. The real winners this year are Belle Vue (ignore the last 2 meetings against a side with a circus sideshow track). Great stadium, what an achievement and a brilliant season too. Well done Aces.
  5. Lego would be closer to real bricks than they are actually gona get me thinks.
  6. Come on BV! And as a neutral I just hope for some entertainment because Monday was dire- unless you were a Wolves fan I guess. The usual joke "racing". I'd lost interest by mid point.
  7. £6m has been bandied about but I think not somehow. I don't see it being anything like as much. I see it being something akin to how Smallmead was. Obsolescent within 5 years. Derelict within 10.
  8. Lets face it we knew from the get go that the team wasn't strong enough (and the doubters took stick off the guy who selected the team when those doubts were aired!) to merit a play-off spot. To be honest they did well to push it as far as they did. Rosco will have to do better in his choices next year because a new stadium will attract fresh interest and hopefully new support so a winning team is a must. Its all about Jason now. He's more than capable to land the top prize. He'd make a great World Champion and having one committed to British racing would make a pleasant change.
  9. For me the racing hasn't been the same since they introduced the slimmer tyre profile, razed some of the banking and fell out of love with actually putting dirt down. So that rather shows my age, don't it!
  10. It is indeed great news (and a relief). How did we ever doubt it would happen!!
  11. I thought that a most enjoyable meeting. Well done Robins. As for Wolverhampton's track, sorry, but to me that ain't SPEEDway. Yes, its entertaining in an end of the pier novelty value kind of a way but it isn't what I want from speedway. Its like watching dodgem car's when you'd rather be watching F1.
  12. Are we having our annual Farewell to the Abbey match?! At least that will extend the season a bit!
  13. Well done to Coventry. Well deserved. As to my team, well, Rosco told the doubters at the start of the season that he knew this team, he knew what they were all about. So presumably he saw all of this coming. Which does rather beg the question: Why did he select this team!
  14. My god you have to wonder how bad the places are that finished below!
  15. I don't see it being a major problem mate. Nobody will ever venture to that sorry part of town ever again I reckon. In fact the whole of the town centre is a shambles. How can we trust the people who are responsible for that to pass off sensible plans for a new stadium.
  16. I'm loving watching Belle Vue on the TV. The track seems to be settling nicely and producing some very entertaining racing.
  17. Ah, cheers mate. It does make me chuckle that the council don't want cars and people in the same place. Not long ago they thought it was a rip-roaring idea around the new development at Regents Circus.
  18. Surely water provision/hydrants isn't an insurmountable problem? And its sounds as if the parking situation, which was a council objection, has been overcome? It does hurt to click on that link to be confronted by an old picture of the Abbey with loads of space around it. Its bloody hideous up there now with all those vile rabbit hutches.
  19. I was hoping someone could tell me! That said we aren't powerless. Unless we roll over and just give in. Its the long game strategy the bas**rds always had and if we do just shrug and say "whats the point" then we really only have ourselves to blame.
  20. They were always going to be dragged kicking and screaming to build a new stadium and we were always concerned about inadequate plans being submitted. The council were warned on plenty of occasions about not letting them build before a new stadium was in- it seems they didn't really take us seriously. How messy is this going to get?
  21. The team has done well but perhaps punched a bit above their weight there for a while. Certainly Rosco's assertion that the doubters were wrong after the sluggish start to the season must be coming back to haunt him a little now. The play-off's are still well achievable in this woeful Elite League but the boys are going to have to dig deeper than this.
  22. We have a good bunch of lads who have done well, very well, over the last few weeks- and indeed they did so yesterday- but I think that was probably the reality check that was coming our way. More worrying for me was just how dreary the meeting was. How amateur it all seemed. I took a friend along who hadn't been for 4 or 5 years and he was shocked at it. The track was slick as, well, as slick as Poole (why so shy with the watering?) and the presentation dull. And how embarrasing to go to all the trouble of having a live band to kick them off after one song! They attracted a decent crowd then forgot all about entertaining them. No wonder speedway is in the parlous state that it is.
