  1. I'd truly like to get up there with a shaker can and rework that Coming Soon advertising. Just remember, at the next election, on the unlikely off chance you are struggling to find a reason not to vote Conservative, Justin Tomlimson completely failed us despite all his chat. I once told him we wouldn't forget if he messed this up. Well, mess it up he did.
  2. And, just to rub salt into the wounds, they would appear to be calling the estate built on the grounds Robin Gardens. Talk about taking the piss.
  3. Tomlinson was given those warnings in 2006 mate, but well done.
  4. Why does people having hope so bother you that you could get physical about it? Having hope and being positive never hurt anybody. They arent the ones letting you down. You need to be directing your anger at the developers and this awful council.
  5. For the promised £6m I need to be impressed. We've been fobbed off for too long. I want to see an investment in the future not some slapdash job. Swindon as a town deserves something nice. God knows the council aren't interested.
  6. And I can't see that happening. They've got a few artic trailers that they'd have us believe is going to be the new stand. It doesn't look impressive to me.
  7. I see they've scraped all of the banking away, which made for a perfect view of the action. And a noise barrier too. Their motivations still seem to be suspect to me.
  8. And still no sign of action as we move toward autumn. It seems we've just given up now. Where's the fan club that was so vocal back in the day? Are they just resigned to losing the Robins? Why aren't the Adver trying to get answers? I realise they lift most of their "news" from Facebook these days but there must still be one old fashioned reporter up there with a pencil behind his ear? Between the useless SBC, who care for little but more houses, and the stadium owners, who truly speak with fork tongue, it seems they've truly played a blinder. And being lied to is an even more bitter pill to swallow than the loss of the speedway. But then our hand was pretty weak against people who are more interested in money than being honest and doing what they've said all along that they would do.
  9. Where did I say I believed them? No, quite the opposite. I'm attempting to hold them accountable. For all the good it'll do. Where is the passion that was shown in 2006? Why aren't we fighting the council and developers? We appear to have rolled over and given up. The long game we always knew they were playing appears to have been successful. It might help if the Robins owners could convince us that they really do wish to run next year and there after. Because it really does look as if they've given up too.
  10. And we have a council who, despite being told how it would all play out given the past form of the stadium owners, allowed the houses to be built with zero progress on the stadium. SBC have been played for complete amateurs. Or are complicit in what has gone on. Either way they've had a hand in Swindon losing yet another amenity and source of entertainment. Without shared experiences and reasons for the town to have an identity we are diminished as a community. And it seems to me that the council are just fine with that. Shame on them. And shame on the stadium owners if all of their talk comes to nought but so many lies.
  11. I'm thrilled that we doubters were able to inspire the team! Well done lads. (I still hate that logo though!)
  12. Wolves have it. The Robin logo with the surrendering wings needs to be changed for next season!
  13. I wonder if Rosco is still tired of hearing the team he has put together isn't strong enough? I suggests he starts listening.
  14. Very sad. As others have said he was great on the roving mic back in the day. Always entertaining he very much wanted to let the fans know what was going on in the pits. That is sadly lacking these days. He was forthright but fair in his commentaries. I only met him once when introduced to him when I was a youngster. He got a personally signed picture of Phil Crump to me. I still have that some 36 years later. That was a great kindness that I've never forgotten.
  15. Without teams to compete against I think you will find even BV and Poole are screwed. And as for 20 years- that is incredibly generous. Under 10 I'd say. Heartbreaking really but the writing has been on the wall for the last couple of decades now. Its just lurched along despite the people who control it rather than because of.
  16. Forgive me if I cling on a little longer. This isn't now just about potentially losing the speedway, this is about being lied to and used. That takes some digesting.
  17. I had an email from Justin Tomlinson MP today. Both Justin and Councillor Elliot have been "repeatedly chasing". "The issue seems to be that they are still waiting on the drainage to be sorted to allow work to commence. We have checked this with the planning department and they are aware. We have offered to help chase Wessex Water and will do what we can to try and get this moving asap. The owner has made it clear to us that he is very frustrated". Clinging to hope that we aren't being played here.
  18. Who can blame them. The sport is a shambles. Its heartbreaking to watch this slow demise of this once great sport.
  19. They won't be knocking the old one down until the new one is up.
  20. I've seen worse stadiums than your picture shows! At least there is seating!
  21. I realise some are keen, despite their protestations to the contrary, that the stadium doesn't go ahead (mostly for no other reason than they are keen to be proven right) but its happening. Sorry.
  22. And a fine club it has been over the years. We really can't lose it.
  23. Remember, Christmas lasts a whole bloody month in this country nowadays. They are winding down for the holiday!
  24. First person to make some crack about being able to see their helmets can go and stand in the corner!
  25. Great showman and a helluva promoter at Reading. I still remember how he dismissed a great June Robins win at Smallmead. Reading had gone on to eventually win the league that season of the famed £40,000 bet and Swindon were down there the night they brought the trophy back to Reading. Lannings programme notes read thus: "The home banana skin against Swindon was just one of those things that happens against a side whose season has given little else to enthuse over". Ouch. RIP
