It's because certain riders still qualify for a 2.5% reduction to their average; A Rider who has participated in the National Development League will receive a 2.5% reduction on their MA once he has achieved an established EL / PL MA, for the next 3 Seasons taking regard of any season where the Rider did not appear in a PL / EL Team Declaration.

My understanding is that the Elite League club only have priority if they actually own the rider in question. If a double-up rider is on loan to the Elite League club, as in your Josh Auty scenario above, then the PL club will have priority.

The initial tallying up of numbers through the gate would indicate that it was not a poor turn-out, so it would appear that not many shared your views on reasons as to why they should not have attended the match.

Somerset tonight! As far as I am aware, James as not been a member of a team, but has consistently been used by clubs needing a guest or number 8 when visiting the Scottish tracks, and scored some points when used in this capacity. He is currently riding in the Northern Junior League and I believe he is the current Northern Junior League Champion, though I stand to be corrected on that.

But Newcastle couldn't have picked Scunthorpe last year as Scunthorpe finished 2nd in the PL and the team finishing top of the table cannot select the team that finished 2nd in the league table, so Scunthorpe were never an option for Newcastle to select........

He had bike problems in the first race and did not complete the race He won heat 2 His chain snapped when he was in a points scoring position in his 3rd ride. He finished behind his team-mate in his last ride. So he scored 4+1 from the 2 races that he finished, and had mechanical issues in his other two rides that stopped him from scoring any points.

A guest 'assumes' the average of the rider he is replacing.

So why is Adam missing? Because he is riding in an FIM World Championship Meeting. What does rule 18.1.2.4 say? When the ACU nominate an ACU licensed Rider to an FIM Speedway Championship, or is selected to ride Speedway for Team GB, GB U21, then irrespective of the Rider’s MA a choice of Guest or Rider Replacement facility is available. So that covers the situation with Adam…it is quite straightforward, it doesn’t matter if a rider is number 1 or 7 in the averages, so long as he is ACU nominated or ACU licenced. If he were absent for any other reason e.g. injury then rule 18.2.2 (In the Premier League e) Absent #7: NL G* : a Rider eligible for a NL Team who has never achieved an actual PL MA of 4.00 or above) would apply. In any case if it were a case of rule 18.2.2 applying Lewis Blackbird wouldn’t be eligible as he is in a declared PL 1-7 and the guest must be solely riding in the NL….the NL team declarations on the BSPA website indicate the riders in NL who are not eligible to guest under rule 18.2.2 and Lewis Blackbird is one of them

My understanding is that the 'Golden Heats' are 3 additional heats where team managers have a 'free hand' in to what 2 riders they put out in each of the 3 heats, the only proviso being that each rider is restricted to 1 ride each...at the end of the 3 heats team with most points wins the tie, but if still level then it 'sudden death' with as many additional heats being run until one side gets a heat advantage, the team managers once again having a 'free hand' as to who they put out in each additional heat, but again each rider can only have 1 additional ride, not sure what situation is if one team already running R/R or if a team down to less than 6 riders due to rider withdrawal's due to injuries sustained during the match. From memory I think that 'Golden Heats' have only been used once to decide a tie, Edinburgh v Newcastle from a few years ago springs to mind, so maybe someone from either of these clubs (if indeed it was them), might be able to confirm actual format used......

I think you might find that in the event of a tie on aggregate then it is the 'Golden Heats' that is used to determine a winner (16.4.1)

Nope…to put it simply they can only use a National League rider who is not doubling up with a Premier League club and would not command a Premier League average of more than 3.00.

Given that I believe he was refused a British passport when King's Lynn first brought him over to the UK, hence reason that he was given a 5.00 average and not a 3.00 one and ended up joining Newport instead of King's Lynn, the fact he is an Australian National and that he has already represented Australia on a number of occasions and ridden in their National Championship at various levels, there is no chance of him representing GB.
