  1. You could be blinded by a comprehensive win for your team. Likewise, the Witches fans could be negative because of the disappointment of their teams performance. Interestingly, two of the negative comments have come from supporters of neither team, that is telling.
  2. Popped along to this as a neutral and to be honest I've seen far worse meetings! I thought Cameron Heeps looked a real talent, certainly an EL rider in the not too distant future IMO. Would have had even more points to show for his efforts in heat 8, but Garrity did him no favours whatsoever.
  3. Lets call a spade a spade here, it's always risky signing either Adam Roynon or Oliver Allen as both have chronic injury records and history shows that both are more likely than not to be spending time on the sidelines each season. To sign both of them is a huge gamble. When you factor in the amount of meetings important riders will be missing through doubling up (see above), then despite the promotion getting the hump over their long odds to lift the title, you can understand where the bookies were coming from.
  4. Reading the post above they don't need one. The theory that all Visas were ripped up and new ones had to be applied for doesn't seem to be the case.
  5. It's definitely a put off that he'll miss meetings. I agree with you, he's better than all four of those mentioned and IMO has more potential and talent than all four of them put together, but riding for Lakeside on Friday's has definitely been a big problem for him. I think if he was riding for an EL club on a less busy PL night, then he'd probably have been back at Ipswich.
  6. What a bizarre post at no point in that posting has he/she inferred that Manzares should be an exception to the rule. You've even highlighted part of the posting where CardinalSin states that he doesn't seem to meet the criteria so "prepare for disappointment"!
  7. But you'll just get more utter dross like Palovaara, Konopka and Dilger filling spaces instead. Rules are rules, but if you can keep utter crap like those three riding here and lose the likes of Gino Manzares, Davies and Douglas then the PL will be a poorer place for it.
  8. Ipswich/Mildenhall/neither who cares. The important thing for Peterborough is that he isn't an asset of his EL club and won't be missing any fixtures. Good points made above though, the asset system is a nonsense that needs scrapping.
  9. You could argue that a fair few of those are already good at their jobs, but just fall short of the "criteria" to now suddenly get a visa. You're good enough to have a visa and ride over here if you averaged 7.00, come on over, but if you averaged 6.99 you're not good enough and stay away? Or is it that if you require a visa and don't have dual nationality/British passport, you won't get one no matter how good you are?
  10. That's a bit harsh isn't it? There may not be any on that list who could currently be labelled "world class", but there's one or two youngsters on there that certainly have the potential to be. I'm not sure the majority on that list "add very little" either. They offer a darn sight more than some of the crap Brits that will have to be shoehorned in to make up the numbers if these guys get refused Visa's! I do agree however that over the years, far too many overseas riders who were clearly not good enough were given Visa's and team places over here at the expense of Brits of a similar standard, that shouldn't have done.
  11. But going to two on the same day is a very expensive day out, especially if you're taking the kids. Going to one, one week, then another the following week when you've received another pay cheque is easier to manage. Your other point doesn't make much sense either. If you can only afford to do one meeting on the day, then you're going to choose one or the other. There are I'm sure, Peterborough supporters who were planning to go to Rory's big day, who'll now not go and watch their team instead. There'll be others who planned to watch Rory's testimonial, who still will and give the showground a miss. It wasn't a case of "Those that only wanted to go to Peterborough still will, those that only wanted to go to Lynn still will. Those that wanted to do both still can" because until today there wasn't a choice to make.
  12. Must admit long lease or not, it does seem a little strange. How long is the lease for?
  13. Lewis Blackbird and Oliver Rayson swapped clubs. Lewis was on the books of Kings Lynn, Oliver was on the books of Ipswich. I'm sure Chris Louis had every intention of building up Mildenhall whilst he was there, but he's since severed ties with them.
  14. I don't think it's money out as far as Ipswich are concerned with Covatti, more like money IN.
  15. The Ipswich fans will see a lot more of Covatti than Ellis though, and that's the problem Ellis has especially now he's signed on at Lakeside again on Fridays. I'd be very surprised if anyone turned their nose up at Nico Covatti at reserve on a 4 point average..
  16. That's a shame as a little birdie told me we were very interested in TJ. Next.
  17. Tungate is a very good rider, isn't he? I'd absolutely love him at Redcar! Only 7 riders in the whole league have a higher average than Tungate. They are, Cook, L Bjerre, King, Barker, Allen, Stead and Kennett (only just by 0.02). Most of those have ridden speedway for far longer than Rohan Tungate to boot. There is more to come from this lad, he's your asset, has improved each season and finished a full point clear of anyone else in the Ipswich averages. Have faith in the lad and stick by him!
  18. I find the apathy from a few of the Ipswich fans on here towards potentially having King as your number 1, baffling to say the least. King is every bit as good a rider as Simon Stead, Ben Barker, Edward Kennett and I'd even say Craig Cook at Elite league level (bar this season). If you don't want him, we'll gladly take him at Redcar!!
  19. I'd imagine King will be on most fans' shopping list to lead their team, but I've a feeling he is Ipswich bound.
  20. Then you'll absolutely love Ricky Wells. I hope you sign him.
  21. Well he has simple as that, and after only his third season in the sport. "Lost his way" as said above? Do me a favour. God you Ipswich fans are damn hard to please at times!
  22. Is that the same Tungate who has increased his average this year, and after only his third season in professional speedway has climbed up to number 1 in the team with an average above 8? I wish more of the Redcar riders would "lose their way" as badly as that... As for King, I think you'll be in a tiny minority there too. I can't see him being anything other than a cracking signing for anyone as a Premier League number 1, especially now he's on a more attractive average than the inflated one he joined Newcastle on. All about opinions obviously.
  23. That's a pretty natural reaction when such disappointment sets in though isn't it? It happens in all sports. How often do you see football supporters leaving after 80 minutes when their team is being stuffed at home?
  24. I'm sure he would Halifax, and I think that's exactly what Baldyman was saying above..
