Because as the latest statement says, it still hasn’t been completed yet due to stadium related issues. They’re clearly a professionally run outfit unlike the cowboys who run other clubs in this Country and won’t be making a full, detailed announcement until all legalities have been completed. And rightly so. On the team, again the statement says only five of the team have actually signed, two close. Perhaps they want to announce the full team, together with their announcement of the purchase of the club, in one go? That again makes total sense.
-
Nicholls would be a better signing for Ipswich than anyone else. Struggles for pace on the bigger tracks these days, but will still score consistently well around Foxhall. Important to win your home fixtures.
-
Have the rest of the BSPL hacked Louis off that much, that he’s now doing this on purpose to be as disruptive to them as possible? He knows they need Ipswich. People may scoff at that idea, but it’s entirely possible.
-
Not sure on that personally. They’ve come in late when all the best options would have been snapped up. Coupled with riders that gave up waiting and committed elsewhere in Europe instead so it’s a bit harsh to judge them on their first team announcement. Next winter you’ll get a better idea of what they’re about and how ambitious they are. They might actually have had nothing to do with building this particular team. That may have been Louis’ work.

We know a team manager is in place and I’m led to believe that the full team of riders is now in place also. And yet nothing has leaked on either which is quite unusual. Relatives, mechanics, sponsors, friends, there’s usually loose lips everywhere and it usually ends up on here one way or another before the official confirmations but in Ipswich’ case, nada.
-
So not a confirmation of the sale then? Are we perhaps looking at a scenario where Louis is going to reluctantly run the Witches for a further year? Could explain Brennan being number 1 and a cheap team has been assembled. If @PhilTheAce is correct of course.

There’s FIVE guaranteed Premiership teams, but you already knew that didn’t you Mike? https://britishspeedway.co.uk/rowe-motor-oil-premiership/2026-premiership-update/ Just to to jog your memory incase you’ve developed a severe case of amnesia.

What about Northampton?

And you know that how? Because Dickson said so in the Star? Funny how you and Iain are more than happy to Believe every word your Team manager says, but when riders openly state they can’t afford to ride in one league and would retire if one league came to pass, you’re all quick to disbelieve them and rip the pi$$ out of them! -
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02362212/filing-history Change of details for Chris Louis filed on January 29th. When you view the PDF though, nothing is viewed in the “new details”.

You really are one miserable bugger aren’t you? Never known someone to moan, whinge, and see the negative side of just about everything. Glass half empty doesn’t even begin to cover it. I feel sorry for your significant other.

You’ve already bored everybody to death on another thread with your scare stories about Mayfield sports and the lack of a full GP Calendar and their credentials to present one. You then strangely disappeared when they subsequently announced a full GP Calendar a week or so later. Pipe down.
-
Think you should do a little more research. As far as a British Speedway club ownership goes, it’s pretty huge. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if they don’t just stop at Ipswich in the near future either.
-
That all but confirms Mayfield Sports are the new owners. That’s pretty huge and Louis has played a blinder there to be fair. I get you’re frustrated, everyone on here has been. But they released their AGM statement confirming five clubs, and talks were ongoing to grab a 6th. They’ve clearly been waiting on both Ipswich, and getting Northampton up and running. But until those two get completed, what can the BSPL say in the meantime? I get it. We all want regular updates, but if there’s nothing further to report then it’s pointless them coming out with a weekly “update”, that the update is there’s no further update!
-
In the same boat. Moved down to Bury St Edmunds last year so any speedway I do watch now, is at Ipswich. Not a regular though by any means. Woffinden is a difficult one to judge. He did far better than I thought he would for Sheffield with a near 9 point average. Another horrible accident since then though but Woffinden is not your average rider. Incredibly strong character and mentality as tough as they come. I wouldn’t bet against him coming back and hitting the big scores again.

It’s difficult to imagine that with the contacts and influence Mayfield undoubtedly has in the sport right now, that they don’t announce their purchase of a Premiership club with an eye catching number 1 signing. They’ll get one of the GP boys in surely.
-
What makes you say that? You’ve hinted that you’ve heard something, care to share?

You said back in December they’d already signed one Flagrag. What happened?
-
The new owners are going to want to make a statement of intent. They’ll know full well the Ipswich supporters have been used to watching Doyle and Emil lead the team the last few years, and having Brennan (with all due respect to him) leading the team at 1 isn’t going to cut the mustard. If it’s Mayfield, that gives them a huge advantage over every other club when it comes to attracting a big hitter over. Especially those GP riders who might not make the cut, and will rely on a wildcard to remain in the series…
-
That’s what I saw too but I remember his average being a bone of contention back then, especially when it came to his eligibility to guest. Cant see this one happening for a few reasons, but if it does it’ll be interesting to see what average he’s given and whether it’ll be reassessed.
-
What would Robert Lambert’s average be out of interest?
-
That all goes out the window when you’re offered enough $$$$ Think it would actually do him the world of good personally. Looked to go backwards a little last year and could do with being sharpened up.
-
Surely that’s a complete conflict of interest? You can’t have two owners/promotors run their own clubs, and also own/run a second club between them in the same league. That’s just nuts. Glad Louis turned that particular proposal down! Wouldn’t think the Ipswich supporters would have been too thrilled either to be frank. The two promoters would naturally put their clubs first, and Ipswich would end up with the scraps just to get them running so their own clubs had a viable league to compete in. Assuming one was Chapman, he’s hardly going to help build a better team than his beloved Kings Lynn is he? Terrible idea, and pure desperation.
-
No offence intended but that’s not new news is it? Louis himself issued a statement over a fortnight ago now saying the same thing. Sale all agreed, just DD and paperwork to get through.
