Kings Lynn vs Ipswich KOC April 13th 7.30pm
Steve Irving replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If my Aunt had a pair of b0llocks and all that. IF Musielak repeated his 17 pointer haul on one of his visits last year (capable) Lynn would have been obliterated. IF Bangs had more time to settle in to racing in this Country it wouldn’t have even gone to the last heat etc etc. The fact is Lynn never looked like winning either meeting and had to use a tactical on their own track against a team many has tipped for the Wooden Spoon! They’ll improve and get better results as the season goes on sure, but they’re not even close to competing for that elusive title you’ve never won. -

I’ll just repost this from page one of this thread. They started with Fricke and then got it all wrong. Only two trophies available and they’re already out of one of them. They’re going to have to change one of the middle men and either Rushen, or move Rushen to rising star and remove Scott and find a couple of 4-5 pointers. Do nothing and they won’t even make the play offs. -

I’m not a “Witches” fan. Why would I be worried? I couldn’t really care less if Ipswich win lose or draw! My team closed many moons ago. -

I had to laugh listening to that Kings Lynn podcast that Bagpuss linked up where Lyon said they “really pushed for TWO rising stars this year”. Yeah I bet they did!! It wouldn’t have anything to do with the fact the team building average had been reduced and they’d signed the statistically top rider in the league saddled with a near 10 point average, meaning having to go weak at reserve with two inexperienced riders would it? Of course not. They were thinking in the best interests of the sport long term! 🙄 We all know self interest rules the roost and it’s plainly evident again here. They finally had the top end strength they’d craved for years, and also wanted to negate any disadvantage they’d have from that at reserve by trying to force everyone else to go with two out of their depth kids as well. They may have failed with Their requests this time, but we all know the influence certain people have and their threats to close their clubs if certain demands aren’t met have been successful in the past. People wonder why this Sport in this country is in the mess that it is when it’s run by the very people who will ALL try and pull these stunts to gain an advantage for their own clubs. It will continue to happen until someone comes in to set the rules and regulations, and runs the Sport in this Country who doesn’t have ANY association with one particular club. -

I’m sure someone will point to the fact that this isn’t against the rules, but it should be. There’s always an element of home advantage regardless of track conditions, but it’s a fact track conditions can vary from meeting to meeting. A home team shouldn’t be allowed to spend a whole afternoon fine tuning the perfect set ups on the actual day of a meeting. It may not exactly be “cheating”, but it’s definitely off. -

There’s home advantage, and then there’s this! Should this be allowed on the actual day of a meeting? Home riders having all afternoon to practice and fine tune their setup to suit the track conditions on the day? Seems a bit off to me. -

A lot will depend on what Musielak turns up. The one who scored 17 on his first visit here last year, or the one who scored 2 on his second! That just about sums his last couple of years up over here. Wildly inconsistent. -

Stand corrected! Had more experience than the two here though. Point still stands, they should have picked one of them and gone for a more experienced number 6. Those two along with Castagna gives them far too long a tail. -

You don’t win things by going with two rising stars at reserve, you just don’t. Lynn have got their strategy all wrong here, again. No issue with signing Fricke, although saddled with such a high average in a league that reduced it total team building average obviously comes with issues in building the rest of the team, but they needed to be far smarter. They should have left out one of Harris, Cook or Kvech and gone for a couple of 4-5 pointers giving them a bit more scoring power and experience in the senior reserve position. They won’t win a bean with this team. -

Golden. Sign up. -
Who else wants to sign for Ipswich under this new management? Please join an orderly queue.
-
Crikey. I wondered why the “official” British Speedway social media uploaded all the other Premiership clubs’ press and practice activity and excluded Ipswich. Now we know why 😂 Good luck Mayfield, you’ll bloody well need it!! Isn’t this refreshing though? Out with the old, in with the new!
-
Good lad. Don’t let it put you off posting what you “hear” either whether it’s right or wrong. End of the day very few people give a sh!t 😉

Why not? If you’re going to put it out there, face the consequences and own it when it turns out to be bullsh!t.

Ipswich vs Kings Lynn Thursday April 9th 7.30pm KOC
Steve Irving replied to Aries's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
With respect to the youngsters that night, it’s night and day compared to what he’ll meet on Thursdays. Worlds apart. Rushen was beaten that night by Trigger, Loftus, and twice by Mulford who he didn’t look close to competing with. Let’s not forget Mulford has a Championship average over two points LESS than Ipswich #7 and rising star, Edwards, let alone a Swedish U21 Champion. That’s the scale of what he’ll be up against. I’m not saying he won’t get in amongst them as he’s clearly a talented boy, but he shouldn’t be expected to beat either at this moment but as I say, that doesn’t mean he won’t. He’ll have better opportunities on the horizon against weaker reserve pairings but he’ll be up against IMO the strongest reserve pairing in the league currently. Having said that, he’d do well to stay completely clear of Bangs while he’s getting to grips with Foxhall! Could be a very interesting spectacle watching his early heats on Thursday which is the main reason I’m taking the trip across to give him a look. -
We all know exactly who that is 🙄 Hint: The same promotion who couldn’t even be @rsed to have a press and practice session this year, instead will do the “team photo” at the first meeting. Unfortunately some promotions are a cancer to the sport in this country. They’re old, stuck in their ways, have no fresh ideas, and want to just get by every year by doing the absolute bare minimum. Until they’ve all retired or buggered off, nothing will change and neither will they let it. The ideas you’ve suggested Phil wanted to implement sound exactly like the ideas Mayfield have for the sport not just at Ipswich, but for British Speedway in general. But they’ll also find out soon enough that any ideas they have will fall on deaf ears and they’ll get absolutely nowhere with them. Would anyone be at all surprised if Mayfield went exactly the same way as Chris Louis in 12 months time? I wouldn’t.

“ Lawson admits he didn’t have to think too hard about joining the Witches when new co-promoters Richard Coleman and Andrew Chisholm approached him. He said: “They have some great ideas, and I think Ipswich is in a good place. It’s good to be part of that. “The new owners got in touch pretty much straight away when things were gathering momentum. Straight away, I said I was very interested – let’s get the deal done. Within no time, we thrashed it out over a cup of coffee. “I am excited for the club in general. The new promotion is stepping things up in a really positive way. The fans will see some really good things come of it.” The new owners do seem to have made a good early impression on various people. Interested to see what good things the fans will see, and what they have planned.

Have sneaky feeling Musielak is going to sparkle this year. Ipswich a similar kind of set up as Sheffield and the last time he was at such a club he was a 9 pointer. -

Ipswich should be dominating the reserve area. Edwards should have the beating of both Lynn reserves let alone Bangs. It MAY be the best time to face them while Bangs gets to grips with a notoriously tricky Foxhall but with his pedigree, he should still be coming out on top. The more I look at Ipswich’ team the more I think they’ll go unbeaten at home. They’ve collected a group of Foxhall specialists and you can’t see any of the top five having a really duff meeting there. 50-40. -

Still stings, clearly 🙄 And we’ve STILL to see the resurrection of @AceBelle 😲😂 -
I’d say Coleman has already pi$$ed them off and been ostracised. Three clubs held their press and practice Thursday..

What about Northampton?
Steve Irving replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
And they were correct. At the time of your whinging that no promoting was going on, no deal was struck! So you were whinging for the sake of it. You’re like an old bloody woman with your constant bleating! Ok, now a deal has been done questions can be asked, but if you take the time to read the press release in the Speedway Star, it’s quite obviously a huge rush job to get everything up and running in time for tapes up. There’s an awful lot to do, and very little time to do it but things ARE going on in the background. You were exactly the same on the Ipswich stuff. Demanding updates and answers on a regular basis, until Richard Coleman explained fully why those updates weren’t forthcoming much to his own frustrations. I bet you were one of those kids that hunted around the house for Christmas presents because you couldn’t wait until the big day to see what you’d actually got 🙄 Calm down ffs. -
I bet there would have been. Ipswich get that for run of the mill League meetings with nothing at stake. It’s a shame every club isn’t as well supported, the sport wouldn’t be in half the mess it currently is in this Country. Your GP Star was certainly wowed by the occasion! Scenes he’s never experienced at the wonderful NSS 😉 Every supporter of every club thinks it’s worth winning, until they have no chance of the play offs or get knocked out of them. Then it’s suddenly all worthless and not worth winning. We all know the drill. Even this years shambles is worth winning. The winners will have a title win etched on to their honours list. It won’t have an asterisk accompanying it.
