  1. Have been told that If they have a pl ave over 3 they can't be #7 so we will need around 21 NL riders between elite and PL with clubs that own riders having first choice of there rider so think Liam Carr will be Berwicks and Danny Phillips will be at Peterborough
  2. REPORT FOR THE MEETING Yesterday saw the 2015 NJL Riders Championship take place at The Peugeot Ashfield Stadium Glasgow. From the original line up we lost Luke Ruddick who discovered bike problems during the warm up with reserve Northsides Kev Whelan stepping in. Heat 1 had the first mishap of the day with Josh Embleton flipping his bike doing a practice start on the back straight. He then failed to beat the 2 minutes. Ht 2 saw Ben Basford fall while leading but remounted to secure a point as George Rothery threw a chain. The next incident was heat 4 with Rothery taking a tumble and Kev Whelan laying down to try and avoid the fallen rider. Both riders were ruled out from the rest of the meeting George with broken fingers and Kev with damaged machinery. In between the mishaps there were a few good races in particular a tussle between Smith and McKenna in Heat 1 and a tremendous pass by MacDonald on Douglas in Heat 6. The scores after the qualifying heats were Josh Embleton 3 Blair Smith 5 Ryan MacDonald 9 Luke Mckenna 3 Kev Whelan 3 Ben Basford 7 George Rothery 0 Kieran Douglas 5 The final was initially led by Ben Basford with MacDonald doing the chasing when Basford suddenly slowed going in to the first bend in lap 2. The chasing MacDonald took avoiding action that caused him to slide off with the race being stopped. It was then discovered that Ben had slowed when he saw the red brake lights of a van leaving the stadium. The referee ordered a rerun with all 4 riders. MacDonald gated next time round and stayed in front till the chequered flag. Final result 1st Ryan MacDonald 2nd Ben Basford 3rd Kieran Douglas 4th Blair Smith Once again thank you to Glasgow speedway for allowing this to go ahead and to track photographer Ian Adam for the photograph.
  3. Good team management by Somerset putting Luke chessals in HT 13 for his third ride giving Jensen and worrell HT 14 which won the match great meeting
  4. Eastbourne and Birmingham both moved to NL this year and there crowds are well up and have made money from what I am told the racing is really good and berwick would or could have 3/4 locals in their team can't get any better publicity than that really or is it something about having 7 Brits each team give them a decent team and the crowds will come
  5. At 17 it should really be a hobby along side a full time job like it used to be years ago when nearly every rider had a full time job and worked there speedway around it, it's now become a full time job for most riders now so they demand top wages for it
  6. The thing is do the promotors really promote it right these days looking at Glasgow now changed days since last year every social media sight has info regards results next matches riders they are even on trip adviser it needs to be put out there for people to see and there attendances have about tripled and there 3 hospitality cabins are pretty much full every week it needs to be marketed right
  7. It's always on till it's off at Armadale lol got its own mini climate
  8. Qualifying was postponed yesterday dew to heavy rain and will be on today
  9. Don't think you get a lot of traveling support in NL but think there would be less to pay out no flights big points money or vans etc and it's still speedway and it would keep the door opened rather than have to close it
  10. Would they not be better going NL , Eastbourne did it this year and have had better crowds than they did in the elite league and from what you read it's affordable and the racing seems to be better
  11. Pretty sure john also bought 2 new full chassis at the start of the year as well as 2 new engines and being a number 1 you need pretty good equipment even to ride in the NL normal blow ups big or small end bearings going can be fixed pretty easy but when you have to basically chuck most of the main parts in the bin with johns first blow up the the rod broke only after 13 heats and then went throught casings also went throught the barrel and cracked it and the piston flipped and went into the head and done the valves not much left after that ,and when you start the season your hoping to make enough throught the year to recoup what you spend at the start but most never do and his van also chucked it a month back and had to get another one also ,you don't do this sport at NL level to make money you do it for the love and the adrenalin rush for 1 minute every race only a racer will know about that
  12. The tracks looks ten times times better than last year anybody can see that
  13. Ryan Mac Donald was njl riders champion last year ahead of Luke ruddick and this year has been dropped by Stoke only because the rider they brought in to replace the other injured reserve was scoring more than ryan so made team sence to keep higher scorer but he is still racing in MDL and NJL
  14. Rider has been agreed but some hic up with bspa with his and James Sarjeants new average seemingly or someone putting spanner in the works with a old ruling
  15. Could always head over to Kings lynn see kings lynn v Stoke in the NL
  16. if you give the NL riders a decent track to race on you will always get decent racing was there on Sunday and the racing was good even when Stoke riders made a gate Eastbourne riders found a way past them by the first lap inside and outside great home advantage track will take a good team to beat them
  17. The league will not be decided with away matches against Edinburgh Richard and Kozza will do just fine
