Looking from a business side of this if Glasgow run this event and Edinburgh decided to run their match on the Saturday which is there alternative day you would think the diehard speedway fans would maybe stay up and go to Armadale and make a weekend of it both teams win
-
Workington did not own there track and from what the bspa say they have only got a objection it will be up to them to give the final say
-
Why build a new purpose built speedway stadium in Manchester and not use it home advantage is minimal I think in these top events and with it being a new track will take the home riders a while to get it right

Some of these figures costs are way out, a service from a tuner that we use is normally around the £300 mark £150 labour the rest is parts which includes mains ,pin , and rings reseat valves new gaskets ect and thorough check of everything else which is pretty standard and he tells us to do around 50/55 hts before he wants it back so we keep a note of what we do and try to get it back to him When it's dew , most riders will do that but a lot will just estimate what they have done . not many NL riders will buy new engines they will buy from decent pl/elite riders who they trust and these riders normally give you paperwork with what it's had done last time like when it last had piston rod ect most major failures that I have seen are the piston breaking/turning and basically wrecking the complete top end which then costs excess of £1000++ got one away at the moment for service and tuner said that we should put a new piston as it must be over 2 seasons old (that's how long he has been looking after it and don't really know how long it's been in there ) but it still looks ok , ok it's £200 extra but for piece of mind I do it a spending a little extra saves in the long run in this sport I think but a lot of riders and some tuners will say if it looks ok just leave it and keep their money in their pocket false economy I think .t As for clubs buying engines that's got no chance lol even if you bought 7 standard new engines you would get a couple that were faster than others and a few that would be slower than the rest never get 2 the same
-
So every engine that's out now could be obsolete unless they can be made to standardisation regs how many NL riders could afford to buy a couple new standard engines how many riders will cheat who will check engines if anybody follows PJR on Facebook he basically says bad maintainance causes most failures this is what he says good read Our engines are STD a very high STD and when looked after they last a long time. We use the best parts that go the distance. I was not sure about the use of titanium when the rules were changed 3 years ago but I can't believe how long these parts last and the amount of races you can do with no power loss. We have had guys doing > 80 races between services. Educating people to look after engines would be a lot more cost effective. The biggest killer of engines is DIRT, closely followed by over revving. This over revving normally HAPPENS IN THE PITS! why rev engines to > 14k on the warm up? corrosion of parts due to water ingress, when bikes are washed is another problem. These issues will affect any engine and are quite easily avoided. Engines being used in the UK should last forever. The tracks are small and we have no extreme ambient temperatures like you get in Poland. For an example of running costs we had one of our higher profile customers do 52 races on a engine from new before service. This included 2 18 point maximums in > 35 degrees heat in Poland, a GP win & rostrum place. The Total cost for the service was less than £400. You can't get better value than that.! Speedway is a simple, cheap motorsport.

Yes it's the same track for speedway loads more pictures on the Stoke potters Facebook page think all the major work has been done with just the track to sort out
-
Ben will travel up Saturday same as Danny ayres and will stay Saturday nights rather than have to drive up on the race days
-
Pretty sure these 3 point reserves will have no problem stepping up to the PL even think there might even be a few taking some second string and a few heat leader scalps for sure
-
His pl ave sorry would double to ride in NL But as he has not ridden in it he would be given an accessed average and if was over 6 he would not qualify to ride reserve
-
Would depend what average He would be given if he was to ride in NL and double that would give him his pl average
-
maybe Edinburgh were not willing to part with Any money signing on fee as they new they would drop whoever it was and bring in Mitchell when he got his visa Pretty sure that has been scrapped this year
-
A bit off thread but Wonder if Mitchell Davy gets in at Edinburgh on a 3 ave and on a British passport will he now be eligible to ride NL and as he has not ever ridden in NL will he come in on a 3 and will he slot in at Stoke as last reserve???
-
Team Spiller will not be racing till middle of the year as he is sitting exams back in Germany and will probably slot back into Eastbourne and can't see any pl team paying his flights back and forward from Germany
-
Stoke is the only team left looking for a 3 pointer in the NL wonder if Dave Tatum has his number on speed dial lol mind you jade mudgway has a British passport and will ride in the NL this year
-
will he be eligible to ride nl or pl as no one really knows until he gets his passport and the powers that be give him the ok to do, so what will his ave for nl be if he is eligible or will they give him the same as BWD
-
Pretty sure BWD has a NZ passport but came in on a 5 NL ave because his parents were British and that loophole has been closed hence why he has to ride PL with a 5 ave so does not qualify for NL any more and only people with British passports are able to ride in it so if Mitch gets in on a PL 3 ave his NL ave will be three also lol
-
What other reserve rider has changed nationality SH none that I can see
-
People will need to wait and see if and when he gets his passport then Edinburgh will have to submit him to scb what if they knock him back don't think it will be as simple as get passport straight onto team
-
Wonder what ave he will get in the NL 3 maybe lol as I am sure there will be a few teams willing to take a put on him too
-
Chris widman signs just one more reserve to go
-
Pretty sure each promotion will want the best revenue maker and if Glasgow bring up belle vue or a polish,Swedish,Danish team sure there is one polish team meeting against kings lynn on a Friday at the start of March and maybe fancy a trip up north maybe and wonder how many fans Edinburgh fans would come cheer cookie and Max racing against Glasgow, although do both teams need each other to survive up here
-
Defo great little rider
-
David holt and Daniel Bewley from Cumbria signed tonight Daniel is a top class motocross rider 16/17 I think and has Just moved over to speedway last year for a bit of fun and took to it like a duck to water he has been coached by Steve Lawson since he started and will be a good one i have seen him riding Glasgow at practice days and looks as if he has been riding for a lot more years than he has
-
Think that will be the same in every team in every league top dog will always be the number 1 in the team
-
Leagues are won on the track over a season not on paper a lot of last years riders are on false high averages gong to be a lot harder this year for these guys to put much on there averages don't count out any team for a few shock results
