Not being able to squeeze in 10 home league fixtures in the best part of six months is truly shocking although it is not that surprising given the way Speedway is run these days!
-
Assuming the FIM rule is the same did Jim Lawrence chose to ignore it in the second GP at Horsens because he was incapable of deciding who was the primary cause in the back straight collision involving Pedersen, Zagar and Kildemand?

Yes that’s the one! -

Sheffield must be after Stoke’s record for regularity of call offs. I seem to recall BV had the book thrown at them for a dodgy call off v Poole some years ago. If memory serves me correctly they were no longer allowed to call off meetings themselves. Surely Sheffield (and others) need more scrutiny as these situations continue to do untold damage to a sport already on its knees. -
They could have staged that last night! :)

Hopefully they will make an early decision to call it off tomorrow rather than go through this again!

Oceania 2022
WembleyLion replied to longmeadow's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That’s given me a great idea Arnie. Let’s start flogging tickets for the Oceanic round (any venue in that part of the world will do) and then (with a few weeks to spare) move it to Vojens for a November staging! -

Knowing the way Speedway runs it might not be confirmed (as not happening) until after Torun. -
I generally aim for about 60-90 minutes before start time. The time goes very quickly catching up with others who do the same.

The missing test match is 07/06/34. Happy to buy it off you if you have a spare. Many thanks

Thank you - yes I’m missing a few Star Finals and one Test match. If I can get them I’ll have every single Speedway programme from Wembley Stadium.

My entire collection of Wembley Lions home programmes which is complete from 1929 to 1939, 1946 to 1956 and finally 1970/71. My favourite is probably the first one dated 16 May 1929!

Oxford v Poole 20/4/22
WembleyLion replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I enjoyed my first visit to Oxford in the new era. Nice to see a good crowd. The track wasn’t at its best but Poole still deservedly won. Peter York didn’t seem to have a clue what was going on. Interviewed Josh Macdonald thinking it was Cameron Heeps, announced Batchelor and Nicholls as the ‘Coventry’ pairing. The ref and the announcer also seemed to be unaware who was in some of the races when changes were made. -
Panthers v Stars 18/04/22 5pm
WembleyLion replied to Bagpuss's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Another fine example of how not to run a Speedway meeting. Two and a half hours for 15 (well 16 thanks to Babs) races is not a great advert. Well said Buster when he came on the mike. Well done also to King’s Lynn who deserved to win. Hope MPT is ok after a nasty fall. -
A truly great supporter of Speedway. RIP Nigel

French league 2023 fixtures, teams , news
WembleyLion replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
I made my first visit to Marmande today where they won 56 - 42. Good to see some riders that we don’t see much in the UK. The famous grass track (that surrounds the Speedway track) looked pretty impressive also with three distinct straights! Might return for the grass track one day! -
Agreed Arnie but my concern is that there are many who might be inclined to take it out on a someone they perceive as Russian without being that interested in firstly finding out the precise views held by that individual. My point remains the same it is probably not safe for Emil and Artem to be riding at the moment and that has little to do with whether or not they denounce anything.

Agreed but I'm afraid many who might be inclined to take it out on a someone they perceive as Russian may not spend too much time carrying out any prior detailed research into the precise views held by that individual. My point remains the same it is probably not safe for Emil and Artem to be riding at the moment and that has little to do with whether they denounce anything.
