Nicholls V Sayfutdinov
WembleyLion replied to Cornishman's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I've no problem over Scott and Emil - it was heat of the moment stuff which they later regretted and apologised for. These things happen. However, the actions of Ashley Holloway is a different matter altogether and needs addressing. -
Nicholls V Sayfutdinov

Any news on the sanctions that must surely be taken against Holloway? -
Just back home and I would like to say well done Jason who was terrific. Hard luck to Bomber, on another day or if he had not been at the back, Hans might not have fallen. Whilst not condoning the actions of Scott I have been thinking for sometime now that sooner or later someone was going to lamp Sayfutdinov. I didn't actually realise how unpopular he (Sayfutdinov) is until attending the Copenhagen and Cardiff GP's. As for Ashley Holloway surely he must be banned from entering the pits area in future.

Yes he certainly looked better last night. It was my first visit to Copenhagen and although the racing might have been better I enjoyed being at Parken. Copenhagen is a most enjoyable place to visit for the weekend and it was also nice to see so many other fans travelling out yesterday and coming back this evening.

British Final
WembleyLion replied to SCB's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Could be the most open final for a good few years with several possible candidates for the title. -
Just back home in Bucks after a 3 hour journey. I was pleased to see a good turnout for a very worthy cause and it was nice to catch up with a number of friends from all over. Apart from the first couple of laps in his first race Adams looked very fast. Also impressed by Tai and Ben and young Marc Owen from the juniors.

Linlithgow for me - the only UK track that has staged league racing in the last 30 years that I missed out on visiting. The previous miss was Coatbridge. Also Landshut in Germany as I have been there (29 years ago) and it was postponed. Still a chance of getting back there though! Being either London/South East based since I started watching Speedway I'm sorry to have missed out on West Ham, Rayleigh, Romford and Reading Tilehurst.

I think Scott will be back simply because he is the best GP rider outside the top eight. He should be in it regardless of nationality. As for the rest like many of you I would be inclined to give Lindgren another go and bring in some new blood in Emil and Noddy.

Possibly Ellesmere Port because of the football pitch, but I'm not really sure as I only went there a few times and that was a long time ago.

New Year Classic 2008
WembleyLion replied to tanya's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
I enjoyed the day out with the family and I thought the attendance was up on some previous years. I was also well impressed with the nifty start made by Shadders as he left the Severn Bridge Toll - however my wife states there was definite movement before the barrier went up and that a re-start should have been ordered!! -
Hi Martin I'll attend on either a Saturday or Sunday but the Saturday would be my preference with school aged children to think about and a journey home of 100 miles or so. Also I agree with others who have said the Pairs format is looking a little jaded and perhaps time for an England v ROW match. Happy Christmas

Just finishing packing our bags and then we're off to Stansted for an overnight stop (well a few hours kip) before joining the Travel Plus Tour tomorrow am. Might also get Ipswich v Wolves in if the weather is kind to us. Really looking forward to it and to all those travelling out I hope you all have a safe journey and a great time in Prague.

Having watched Speedway for 36 years I guess I have become somewhat immune to the farcial events that all to regularly surround our 'great' sport. I attended on Sunday and would have to say that this latest sham has to be near to the very top in all time speedway farces, witnessed by myself. Time for all those involved to take a long hard look at themselves and the damage they are causing as I, along with many others, feel that this was a meeting that should never have been called off.

Canadian,african,austrian Riders In British League
WembleyLion replied to Puma23's topic in Years Gone By
Canada - Timmy Joe Shepherd (one meeting for Hackney in 1975) -
Kai Niemi being excluded at White City in 1976 - the reason - no crash helmet!! Two dead heats in one meeting! - a test match at Birmingham in 1975. An awarded dead heat at Rye House v Peterborough in 1974. This came about when both Rye riders were excluded and instaed of a second rerun the ref. awarded the Peterborough riders 2.5 points each. King's Lynn finishing bottom of the league mid 80's - 4 points I think from two away victories - no points from home fixtures!

Len Silver - Nel Revlis After his riding days I seem to recall Len promoted at Sunderland under the name of Nel Revlis (Len Silver backwards).
