  1. Well done Chris Holder - the first of several GP wins I feel! Hard luck Tomasz Gollob but he still has a great chance of being World Champion this year. I've never been a great fan of Jarek Hampel but he is certainly a much better rider than the often disinterested one who turned out for Ipswich so well done to him for raising his game and showing us what he can do. Having said that I seem to recall he came close to winning at Cardiff once before - 2006 I think!
  2. Excellent work Tom and I look forward to the final version!
  3. I once read Jason Crump has done just that - has his own starting gate as well!
  4. I seem to recall it being announced one year that he was in attendance although sometimes it can be difficult to understand clearly what is being said over the PA system! As an aside I did spot Freddie at Rye House on Saturday, sat next to Uncle Len!
  5. ... and given that most of our tracks stage considerably more meetings than many tracks in other countries quite a chunk of World Speedway takes place in the UK!
  6. Given that the Islanders were missing Nick Simmons I feel they did well to score 40 against the Tigers who have a good chance of finishing in the top four.
  7. Hi David I visited Linkoping a few weeks ago and very much enjoyed the meeting there - viewing from high up on the terracing added to the spectacle I felt! Also the standard of racing was very good for third tier Speedway. I'm sure you'll enjoy Motala too. I managed to see a Wednesday night Elite league meeting there a couple of years ago and thought it was a very good race track. Next on my Swedish hitlist are Vargarna and Griparna both within easy reach of Stockholm Skavasta airport! Good luck with your travels. Regards Eddie
  8. Well done Tomasz - it could well be the season that he is World Champion and given his efforts throughout his GP career I don't think many would deny him that.
  9. http://www.aktuellspeedway.se/liveupdate/0_1_Live_I-20-16.php?id=45&liveid=45 Try this one for more regular updates from Italy!
  10. I also recall Scott and Bomber met in heat one of the 2008 final at Swindon. Scott was at #2 and Chris at #4(the reverse of their riding numbers at Wolverhampton). Scott won the race and went on to win the meeting.
  11. Although I was not at the Wick that fateful night I do remember Vic riding for Weymouth and Hackney and will not forget him. R.I.P Vic
  12. Just completed a mini break in Sweden with a meeting at Hammarby this evening. I was very impressed with the standard of racing with Pawel Miesiac, Ronnie Jamrozy and Dennis Andersson particularly exciting to watch. Ornarna ran out winners by 50 v 45. Last night at Linkoping was also very enjoyable where Filbyterna lost at home to Ikaros Smederna. There were a number of up and coming young Swedish riders who looked very promising. On Tuesday I went to Kumla to see Indianerna against Vargarna. Back to England tomorrow but hopefully it'll not be too long before I return to visit a few more tracks in Sweden. I would recommend a trip here for anyone who likes to travel to watch a bit of Speedway - it's very easy to find your way around.
  13. Thanks as always Anders. I'm currently in Sweden for three days and on my way to Kumla and really looking forward to the match between Indianerna and Vargarna. There were a fair few Speedway fans (and riders of course) on the 06.05 from Stansted this morning.
  14. I well remember hearing the tragic news on LBC radio - R.I.P Tommy
  15. The old World Championship qualifying rounds often were dealt with in just the way you suggest but with the top four meeting in heat 19!
  16. As you know Sandie you couldn't wish to meet a nicer chap than Pete. However, it is probably true to say that I would go with anyone (to watch Speedway of course)!!
  17. Good to meet you at Swindon on Thursday Pete, sounds like a great trip. I've just booked the flights and look forward joining up with you in Trieste.
  18. Bryn, I have often heard it announced that there is a delay in the decision making because that's exactly what the ref was doing so I think it happens more often than you might believe!
  19. Yes and the same one who failed to ensure Swindon v Ipswich got through to heat 12 last month.
  20. I wonder if he had to learn to speak Swedish? (was said at one time he couldn't sign for Eastbourne because his English was not good enough!)
