  1. Maybe best to leave things as they are. The likes of Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris have been doing a great job at no.1 and Ipswich should comfortably finish in the top four. When it comes to the play offs and KOC final the Witches could presumably use Freddie Lindgren as a guest as he may well be happy to do a few extra meetings in September as the Brummies should be finished by then!
  2. Last night we saw the huge difference between a team of riders who were totally committed and are clearly going somewhere this season against another team who have no team spirit and contains some riders who don’t appear to be that interested and riding for their team means absolutely nothing to them. Dickson hasn’t been slow to make changes previously, albeit questionable in several cases but surely time is up for at least one of the top five with Becker the most likely candidate. So well done to the Witches who were excellent once again. If I were a Leicester fan though I would be hugely disappointed at what happened last night.
  3. Admittedly it’s rare but I found a moan free zone for you on the Leicester v King’s Lynn thread where I could not find anyone complaining about the early decision they took on Thursday.
  4. Agreed - there aren’t any forecasts that look remotely promising but Oxford often leave decisions until the situation is beyond doubt.
  5. I guess that based on previous history Oxford will probably wait until much later in the day before taking such a decision. Sometimes they get away with it but often they just annoy their fans by making very late call offs. We’ll just have to wait and see.
  6. Good point - that strategy seems to work well for Pawlicki also.
  7. The Witches had a comfortable win in the end. Bomber was excellent and Rew likewise. How on earth Pawlicki has survived so long in the Brummies team really baffles me.
  8. A very good meeting with another close finish with the Spires just coming out on top helped by several great outside passes.
  9. Looks like they have dumped some extra dirt on it for heat 5! Let’s see if it pays off!
  10. Yes indeed Tai clearly moved before the start in the Super Heat which went unpunished. A very exciting finale to the meeting all the same!
  11. I would also be surprised if the very astute team manager at KL was not aware of the clash and up until last Thursday I suspect all concerned were happy at the thought of someone like Simon Lambert standing in. 17+1points later they had second thoughts! This time though it wasn’t blamed on the KL micro climate, pit gates, dodgy electrics, stock cars…
  12. Spot on Arnie and I guess the answer is that as a consequence of Patryk Wojdylo scoring 17+1 last Thursday Buster is less confident about guest cover!
  13. Buster has had a number of dubious call offs in recent seasons and although he is more up front about this one it will be interesting to see the outcome of the enquiry! Anyone got a large piece of carpet and a broom spare?
  14. So Tarasenko quit on Tuesday! I wonder if he was planning to turn up on Monday before it was called off?
  15. Agreed - a clued up TM would have a plan in place before the first race. The plan may of course have to change but it should be constantly under review throughout the meeting. How on earth one can get to heat 14 and it has still never occurred to them is quite shocking.
  16. My all time favourite rider. I was fortunate enough to be able to be in attendance to watch three of his finest individual achievements:- 1975 British Champion at Coventry. 1975 Third place in the World Final at Wembley after a run off with the great Ivan Mauger. 1979 Winner of the BLRC at Belle Vue following a truly memorable race with Bruce Penhall. Tiger was a fantastic team man as well and led the Witches to back to back titles in 1975 and 1976. A true legend of the sport. My condolences to Chris and all the Louis family. R.I.P. Tiger Louis!
  17. Before the day itself I don’t think there is a forecaster that is more reliable than any of the others. The BBC seem to be very pessimistic with sometimes rain nearly all day, everyday. Of course given the current weather they will be right a fair bit of the time. I would say the Met Office is a bit less pessimistic and they seem to forecast less rain than the BBC. On the day itself I use AccuWeather as I find a combination of their rainfall radar and minutecast to be quite useful.
  18. Yes quite right, just like at Oxford, where a poor start for the Tigers cost them dearly. Last night they got the two points but it was far closer than it should have been. The way the Tigers team is constructed the heat leaders need to perform consistently well especially away from home.
  19. Tai clearly has a very limited range of vocabulary to call on and expletives are a fundamental part of his rudimentary language skills. I’m not sure he has the ability to behave much differently.
  20. It goes from bad to worse at the Hotel. The Manager’s Van has broken down so he cannot get there this evening. The new Russian Chef they have hired has gone down with food poisoning. Two employees tested positive for excess alcohol in their system last night. They should be ok though as they have just carried out further tests this evening, at their own expense and are clear. I’m so glad we don’t get any of this kind of nonsense at Speedway.
  21. Agreed. Maybe no club can accommodate Steve’s holiday requirements?
  22. Agreed it was (once again) a total shambles yesterday. One look at the track and it was obvious there would be no Speedway. It was also of great concern that young and inexperienced riders were allowed to prove it! Goodness only knows what would have happened with four of them on the track at the same time. The shambles continues today with nobody knowing whether there is going to be a restaging (obviously not at Leicester) or precisely what significance is to be placed on the meeting at Oxford tomorrow should that go ahead. I just get the feeling that fans apart nobody is in the slightest bit bothered by all of this.
  23. Over the years there is also plenty of precedence for not completing competitions so I guess they’ll make up whatever suits them at the time.
  24. I doubt many of us were too surprised at what happened today even though we possibly still retain a capacity for being disappointed. Unfortunately there are not so many of us fans left now to take advantage of as so many have been driven away over the years. I think the KO Cup should be awarded to Mildenhall as Leicester presumably will have to be sanctioned in some way for failing to complete their fixtures. As for the Grand Final I guess that it will be over one leg at Oxford on Tuesday. If that doesn’t take place then I suspect it will go to Leicester for finishing top of the league. Maybe though they’ll do rock, paper, scissors, best of three!
