  1. Just pointing out that if Zagar had scored another 6 points (giving him 10 overall) from the three rides he did not win he would have had to take points off his team mates so it would still have been a victory, albeit a narrower one, to Coventry.
  2. As is sometimes the case with Polish GP's the ordering of tickets is a little challenging! Torun in 2013 was a nightmare but after 11 attempts I finally made it! For 2014 it was plain sailing though so well done to them for getting it sorted! The latest challenge is now Gorzow but I think I have cracked the registration process so maybe I'll be able to order some tickets soon! Looking forward to it and Pila on the Sunday for the Silver Helmet!
  3. I agree about Lawrence - I was saying last season he should be banned from officiating in British Speedway. Does anyone ever assess the performances of these refs or do they just get jobs because they have mates in high places?
  4. Glad to hear these comments from you Phil although I think you would have a job covering backs to the extent you did in Riga!
  5. I have for sometime considered Jim Lawrence to be a poor referee but then again I think the same about Tony Steele. It seems to me that they just get themselves into these cosy positions at the top of International Speedway based more on who they know rather than any ability they might have.
  6. Ellis Perks rode in heat 15 for Cradley vs Coventry last week but he was one of the three top scorers.
  7. I have been to a few Ice Hockey matches at Swindon and Coventry which were very enjoyable. Years ago I got dragged along to watch a game of cricket which thankfully I have never had to suffer again. I did a few Greyhound meetings in the 70's which were tolerable. And finally some football games where I have been invited along as a guest as there is no way I would pay to watch. Don't mind watching Match of the Day though! Thank goodness for Speedway.
  8. Agreed she continues to be absolutely awful. What on earth was she thinking about with heat 2. She then amends the result a few races later but I thought once a race result was declared it couldn't be amended during the meeting. I have seen a few exceptions to this though but never a race result being amended after subsequent races have taken place.
  9. I really enjoyed the trip to Berlin and the two races between the Russians and Austrians were excellent. I certainly hope to be able to fit in another ice meeting next winter.
  10. Looking forward to a trip to Berlin this weekend. Anyone else travelling out to see the World Team Championships?
  11. Trevor Heath(row) George Green(wood) Trevor Hedge(rley)
  12. Trent Leverington Edward Kennett Olly Allen Oh I give up - must be in Seine joining in this!!
  13. No confusion Ghostie. As you say the tracks are at opposite ends of the city and the Hammarby meeting was actually the night before the 2013 SGP. The less said about 2014 the better though! Anyway the meeting at Veddestavallen started at 11am on the day of the Stockholm SGP in 2013. I nearly went but didn't think I would get there in time from Skavsta airport on the Saturday morning. Others I know did chance it and missed a few races. Check out the Svemo calendar as it is on again this year on the day of the SGP of course and at 11am again!
  14. No teams own any riders although some seem to think they do when it suits them.
  15. I believe they have staged meetings there on the day of the Stockholm GP's for the last two years. Certainly did in 2013 as I know a few people who went before watching the GP.
  16. Apart from the spelling of his surname!
  17. Three titles for Greg Hancock and the fact he has ridden at the highest level for so long should not be overlooked!
  18. That is indeed where I went to school tonyd - 1971 to 1974 before moving up to Stanley Ave! Also started doing Wimbledon and Hackney in 1972 and now have visited 136 different tracks in total. Going to Speedway at Wembley certainly set me off on what has become a huge part of my life for 45 years!
  19. I first discovered Speedway in 70/71 when I lived in Wembley. My routine was much the same as you tonyd although my connection with Alperton was that I went to school there! I agree with cityrebel about the second halfs at Wembley as they were so much better than anything I ever saw elsewhere. I also well remember the one and two lap flying starts - happy days!
  20. I believe there was also a Workington rider (Steve Watson?) who only had one eye.
  21. I wonder how many tickets they have really sold direct to Speedway fans who intend going to watch the meeting?
