  1. Steady drizzle with Watt and Schlein due to ride is always a concern!
  2. ... and luckily I was at Ipswich and then Coventry .
  3. Sounds like Tony Steele was in charge!
  4. An enjoyable meeting despite the cold! Well done the Bees who are still difficult to beat even when they are not at their best! Hard luck to Richard Lawson in heat 14 but had the race not been stopped in the first place he would not have won it anyway! The biggest stroke of fortune for the Bees was Lakeside putting Fredrik Lindgren in heat 15!
  5. Remember first seeing him ride at Wembley in 1971. R.I.P.
  6. I agree Tony - a trip to the Showground rarely disappoints!
  7. I am not a fan of his but fair play to Jim he kept things moving along nicely this evening.
  8. I agree and as one who attended the meeting I thought Coventry made a perfectly reasonable selection for heat 15 albeit there probably wasn't that much to choose between four riders.
  9. Hi Tim - Success as I have managed to order tickets. I found appropriate usage of google translate helped the process! Do BSI ever check out these ticketing systems? I think I know the answer to that! Look forward to seeing you on your SGP travels!
  10. Just pointing out that if Zagar had scored another 6 points (giving him 10 overall) from the three rides he did not win he would have had to take points off his team mates so it would still have been a victory, albeit a narrower one, to Coventry.
  11. As is sometimes the case with Polish GP's the ordering of tickets is a little challenging! Torun in 2013 was a nightmare but after 11 attempts I finally made it! For 2014 it was plain sailing though so well done to them for getting it sorted! The latest challenge is now Gorzow but I think I have cracked the registration process so maybe I'll be able to order some tickets soon! Looking forward to it and Pila on the Sunday for the Silver Helmet!
  12. I agree about Lawrence - I was saying last season he should be banned from officiating in British Speedway. Does anyone ever assess the performances of these refs or do they just get jobs because they have mates in high places?
  13. Glad to hear these comments from you Phil although I think you would have a job covering backs to the extent you did in Riga!
  14. I have for sometime considered Jim Lawrence to be a poor referee but then again I think the same about Tony Steele. It seems to me that they just get themselves into these cosy positions at the top of International Speedway based more on who they know rather than any ability they might have.
  15. Ellis Perks rode in heat 15 for Cradley vs Coventry last week but he was one of the three top scorers.
  16. I have been to a few Ice Hockey matches at Swindon and Coventry which were very enjoyable. Years ago I got dragged along to watch a game of cricket which thankfully I have never had to suffer again. I did a few Greyhound meetings in the 70's which were tolerable. And finally some football games where I have been invited along as a guest as there is no way I would pay to watch. Don't mind watching Match of the Day though! Thank goodness for Speedway.
  17. Agreed she continues to be absolutely awful. What on earth was she thinking about with heat 2. She then amends the result a few races later but I thought once a race result was declared it couldn't be amended during the meeting. I have seen a few exceptions to this though but never a race result being amended after subsequent races have taken place.
  18. Good point - I pretty much ignore the over pessimistic BBC weather forecasting if I find several others are indicating a different story as was the case today.
  19. I was rather hoping that I might find one or two of the missing riders walking round with a collection bucket given they cannot ride but as yet I have not spotted any of them.
  20. Whilst it is very disappointing to hear about riders who declined and the so called top riders, who don't seem to be that bothered a big well done to all those riders who have committed to the Ben Fund meeting and in particular Ben Barker who year after year is willing to take part. I will certainly be there to support them.
  21. I really enjoyed the trip to Berlin and the two races between the Russians and Austrians were excellent. I certainly hope to be able to fit in another ice meeting next winter.
  22. Looking forward to a trip to Berlin this weekend. Anyone else travelling out to see the World Team Championships?
  23. Quite agree and as has been often said no club in the UK owns any riders although some seem to think they do when it suits and have even been daft enough to pay transfer fees to other clubs. That's just given me a great idea - maybe I could sell my window cleaner to my next door neighbour?
