  1. Feel sorry for the Panthers fans and for their riders who can be bothered. Ged says he is open and always tells it as it is so it would be good to hear what he has to say about the missing Panthers riders!
  2. Ricky Wells is self employed - no UK Speedway club owns him or any other rider for that matter, as Tsunami has explained.
  3. Luxury - we used to have to get out of the lake at three o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of hot gravel, go to work at the mill every day for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would beat us around the head and neck with a broken bottle, if we were LUCKY!
  4. I am looking at going there on Sunday 3 December for the Best Pairs meeting which will probably contain about half-a-dozen Speedway races in the wider programme of events. Just wondered if anyone else has ever visited the track (or South Africa itself) that has any useful tips. I am of course aware that it is ranked the 41st most dangerous country in the world, but not the most dangerous country that stages Speedway! https://www.atlasandboots.com/most-dangerous-countries-in-the-world-ranked/ Any feedback would be most appreciated.
  5. Well done Swindon but the Pirates certainly made them work for it until the latter stages of the meeting. Please can someone confirm the race time of heat 15 for me? I made a Hans Andersen type departure from the Stadium and missed it!
  6. When arriving at a track and finding out Frank was in charge always made me feel we would get a well run meeting and rarely did Frank disappoint. It is a great shame that in all the years I have been going to Speedway he is one of the few refs who seemed to appreciate the benefits of a smooth running show.
  7. I agree although it's a pity that the shameful actions of a few (most notably Watt, Batchelor, Holder and Schlein) have dragged their fellow countrymen into this debate.
  8. In a season that we have managed to rid ourselves of Watt, Batchelor and Holder could we really be fortunate enough to see the back of Schlein as well? We can only hope!
  9. Apart from the Witches injury concerns presumably Nathan Greaves will be unavailable as he'll be riding for Wolves at Swindon.
  10. Surely seeing off Watt, Holder and Batchelor in one season is more than most of us could have dreamed of!
  11. I can understand how the deal may have be beneficial to Torun and certainly Holder and although Rathbone seems to have received/ been promised money from Torun I wonder how he has calculated the offset of this money against the potential loss of revenue as a result of fans who may not now bother turning up to watch the Panthers or has he just assumed there will be insufficient impact on any future attendances?
  12. Many Panthers fans were unhappy with Robert Lambert when he was putting his own interests before that of the club so Holder's actions will presumably be met with the same disapproval. I cannot believe though how the Peterborough promotion think it is ok to shaft their own fans tomorrow and for the rest of the season.
  13. Gelsenkirchen year two The Riga SGP that never took place The first Warsaw SGP
  14. Agreed - that is indeed one of the most pleasing aspects of this sorry saga!
  15. Quite agree - UK Speedway clubs do not of course actually 'own' self-employed riders! Maybe I could claim that I own my self-employed window cleaner and try to transfer him (for an undisclosed fee) to my neighbour! As Tsunami says it would be more appropriate to refer to them as holding rider registrations.
  16. Quite agree Batchelor and Holder out Watt retired Happy Days!
  17. and that would be if it were dry and sunny with no rain at all in the forecast!
