Hi Tim I went to Braila in July for rounds one and two of the Romanian Championships. Seven riders riding each other twice with 3 riders per race. Adrian Gheorge won on both days but the second day was curtailed from 14 heats to 7. I was made very welcome in Braila and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

I have been to Zarnovica Tim but not Nagyhalasz as yet. You probably watch more Speedway than any of us! -

Hi Tim I feel sure Tai will come back stronger next year. Eight more tracks this year including Rivne in The Ukraine and Braila in Romania! Hope all is good with you. -

Likening Tai to a lavatory is a bit harsh! -
I went to a meeting at Welland in 2017 which was billed as Canada v USA but was basically a 9 race individual for 7 riders (4 from Canada and 3 from USA). There were 45 races in total, mostly Flattrack and Speedway getting 9 races was as good as it gets. The Speedway event was won by Jeff Orosz who had come out of retirement. I was fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time in the company of Canadian riders Kyle Legault (who rode for many years in the UK) and Nic Fafard who both told me just how Canadian Speedway has declined in recent times, so much so that the only racing in Canada in 2017 was the 9 races I saw - I was very lucky to be able to plan a trip to coincide with this event! I don’t believe any Speedway racing took place in 2018 although there was some Speedway (a few races at one meeting) at Welland this summer. In 2017 I also went to Walkerville in South Africa and experienced much the same as I had done in Canada with Flattrack again dominating the scene. The decline in Speedway against Flattrack is happening much closer to home as well - Holland and Austria in particular!

Never in Speedway to my knowledge but has happened in horse racing and greyhound racing a fair bit! In Speedway we rarely get dead heats given these days. I have seen about 15 in 49 years of watching of which all but one were over 25 years ago!

Sorry for not responding sooner but I see several others have already adequately answered your question. -

Actually based on other accounts he probably should not have been riding his bike at all at that point! My original comment was only relating to the behaviour of the marshall which is the only aspect I can comment on as it is the only aspect I have seen footage of. -

There are still many things to clear up but to my mind having seen the video of Cook and the marshall I would blame the marshall for that particular incident. I appreciate there are many other aspects to this as to what happened both beforehand and afterwards. Good job the marshall didn't do it to Martin Dugard back in the day as I reckon he (the marshall) might have ended up a lot worse off! -

What matches had the biggest attendance in Speedway history?
WembleyLion replied to Kempol's topic in Years Gone By
I was at the Coventry v Hull league decider in 1979 and I think the attendance was given as 23,000. It was certainly a huge crowd and I remember having to park about a mile away from the stadium. -
Very sad - I am fortunate enough to have seen Speedway at Walkerville but when I went in 2017 it was clear that it was struggling to survive and that Flat Track and Quads were much more viable options. Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times with Speedway pretty much worldwide as the same could be said of Canada and even some European countries much closer to home. I'm glad I went when I did as I don't anticipate be able to watch Speedway in South Africa again.

National Supporters Club Group
WembleyLion replied to Trees's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
This seems to be the case although a large number of Speedway fans I know are not attached to any particular club (often because a club they once followed has long since folded) but they regularly attend a number of different tracks. -
I don't think there will be anything at Champex-Lac as they couldn't get enough people to take an interest in trying to run it! Not sure about Flims though!

Anyone remember Dalle Andersen?
