It’s called making a mistake. They just don’t know it yet ;-) -

Understand that. My point is that the young riders coming out of Poland/Denmark/Sweden and to a lesser extent, Australia, just seem to step on a speedway bike, turn up in Polska and instantly start scoring points. There are some that don’t, but the entry level ability is so much higher than ours and I find that very hard to compute. We don’t have this issue in other dirt or motorsport. -

I have no explanation. It’s like a virus. It just plagues British riders on the continent. It’s weird because we don’t have this issue across other motorsports. Poland/Sweden/Denmark just produce top quality kids who seem to compete as soon as they are put in a situation where they have to. It’s a natural ability to just crack on which we don’t seem to have. Rob Lambert is the closest but still not good enough. -

He was as timid pre the crash. When I listen to him, I think he is past those injuries now. He will fall out if he doesn’t grow a pair, to put it politely. It is what it is. For whatever reason, we just can’t get one of our own to do anything out there consistently outside of Tai. It’s been this way for about 15 years. Rico (RIP) was the last one who had any type of consistency. -

For those on the same IPTV as me, premier sports is working fine. This is usually a paid service so it’s not the end of the world. I have emailed the bloke to have a look at his polish part because quite a few are defunct. N sport isn’t working and that is the 2nd channel for the speedway. -

It’s not bizarre. I have the same IPTV service. The stream he is showing is not Polish, it’s German I think. Ive just emailed him to sort it out. -

I think he will get a few more meetings yet. The expectation today, even from the Poles, would have been zero. If he doesn’t improve in the next meeting then his 3rd could well be do or die. And when I say improve, I think 3/4 points will buy him time. -

Agree with it all apart from speed. Imo he is quick enough. Hes always been timid. Tai called it not long ago on BT. He’s soft. Naturally the crash will have played a part but it was happening previous. If he can grow his bollox and get amongst it in the first bend he will score points. He actually trapped well in his first two races but backed off and doesn’t have brain to make those first bend decisions. Last race was better and you can see he is actually quick enough, which has always been the brits issue on the continent. -

He will be out very quickly. I don’t doubt that. The point still remains though. He did ok. For a Brit. -

Dan has done ok. He’s never ridden in the top league there and the step up from Britain is just massive. Absolutely massive. Chogonov a real sniper down at reserve -

Weather not looking hopeful for the first meeting, rainfall pretty much throughout. 2nd meeting looks ok. Assuming covers will be down. -

Says who? At this moment, nobody knows when it will recommence. Appreciate your input but put down it’s your opinion. That comes across like fact. -

1 home and 1 away. Play offs. 12 fixtures per club, 4 months to complete then a month for the play offs. June to October. Now obviously there will be clashes with other countries and at the moment, I have no clue how we would negotiate that. The top leagues in this country are bloated and it is conceivable that we can fully complete with in those 5 months. The main league season doesn't get going until may anyway and we complete by October and that's doing twice the fixtures I proposed. If clubs do 1 home fixture a week that means every one will essentially ride twice a week, assuming those who clash on race nights move to their reserve race night. It could even be done in less than 5 months. -

It’s not just about jobs. There are many aspects to the loan and whilst I accept that speedway may well have a difficult sell, it’s also got a chance. I would imagine that clubs will make individual applications and some will be better placed than others. I’d also argue the state of clubs finances may not have as big an impact as you seem to think. I’m sure the loan will be to cover loss of revenue and there is no question that the sport has lost some as a result of this virus. There will be many large and well established business that will apply and be successful, and I can guarantee many will be carrying debt. At the very least this is a situation that should be explored and it offers some light in what is a pretty dark place for the sport here. -

The deal in question is not relative to any of the above. Pecking order will play no part. The sport will have as much right to claim as any other. This is good news. -
Will the premiership start on time?
acef replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Announcement today was expected. I disagree with Godfrey that this has 'come out of nowhere'. It hasnt. It's been going on for the last 4 months and done nothing but gradually worsen. What needs to happen next is planning. Long term planning. Not the sad face in an interview. What I want to hear is that the association are actively beginning to put steps in place that could potentially safeguard the future of the sport. At this moment in time I don't see a leader in this sport who has the acumen to take us through to the other side. That is my biggest concern. -

When you look at what this virus is doing to stable and large industries, it leaves little hope for what is essentially a semi pro sport, that has next to no cash and little cash flow on top of it. There is enough here to believe that speedway may well not survive this. I think the thread title goes without saying, the real question is whether or not the sport will survive. -

Genuine question to anyone who knows. How do I block someone? For the life of me I can't figure it out! Time to delete our resident troll so I can get on with some normal conversation. Edit: did it. Peace at last!
