  1. Im a firm beliver in the National League is a development league, it has to have a competative edge to it otherwide you may aswell just have open meetings and practise nights. The points limit needs to be addressed first and formost, from 40 to around 37.5. The two reserves should be 3.00 and the rest of the team has to be over 34 points. There should be a top end and a lower end limit as then you will have that level playing field that so many on this thread seem to be craving. If you build a team of 3.00's then what to people expect to happen when a full pointed side turns up, I understand what Scunthrope are trying to do but it actually hinders the league as for clubs like Cradley Mildenhall have to pay top points money on night when you will gaurentee a lower attendance. As for which Cradley are already planning somthing extra to keep the crowd up when Scunthorpe come to Monmore, not sure what it but this is why Cradley are sucsessful because they understand that its important to be well drilled on and off the track...A to be honest we get a bit to big for our boots in the National League as we seem to have a way with getting what we want and thats something that bothers me a little as the example of us being down to race good friday but we wouldnt have had a full strength team and swapped with Mildenhall who miss three heat leaders! No doubting even with a reduced points limit Cradley would still be very strong, and this is down to it being a sucsessful well run and supported club. Sponsership is key to any speedway rider and you are going to get those deals of you a riding for a club that is going to be seen and mentioned alot more than others. That is part and parcel to Cradleys sucsess, and if you look at tonights British under 21 final there are a third of the riders who have worn a Dudley or Cradley bib. We have developed riders, not to the extent of Scunthorpe who find these kids at grass roots but without the stand alone teams in the NL I dont think there would be one and certainly enough riders to form the fast track draft.
  2. Indeed, Williamson was still sat waiting for the tapes to be lowered for the next race he was there so long. However he was already in second place by on the back stright! As for moving up, I am in a minority of Cradley fans who do not actually want to. I pay £120 for my season ticket and its good value for money, I know exactly what im going to get each week and in most cases it will be a ommering. This dose not deter me at all, I really enjoy watching the young lads giving it a good go, yes it was a bit one sided but there were some good races and good heats like heat 15 where Perry was trying every line possible to pass Rose but he couldnt. Last week Coventry pushed us close, although we had a disater couple of heats that could have doubled the winning margin. The time to go PL is when we have our own track, simple as that really. We have good support, although the crowds are not as big as expected so far this season and we pay for what we get! We pay to watch the NL which main focus is to develop young riders, some Heathens fans forget that and its all about win win win. Its nice to win yes, and it will boost our profile and its already quite big at NL level but I am now watching NL riders in the EL and long may it continue!
  3. http://www.ommerum.co.uk/2014/04/heathens-69-young-stars-23-match-review.html Last nights action...Relive the Ommering!
  4. Did not expect that, really thought we would win around 12-18 points but it ended up an Ommering. R/R really did effect KL from the off but nothing could stop the force that came in 7 waves over 15 heats! Only 1 heat where a Heathen didnt win and no last places! Well done, a real statment to the rest of the league!
  5. http://www.ommerum.co.uk/2014/04/preview-cradley-heathens-v-kings-lynn.html My quick preview for tonights meeting, full heat by heat review tomorrow morning. Should be a good 2 leg fixture this!
  6. SCB STATEMENT Tuesday April 08, 2014 THE Speedway Control Bureau have issued a statement following an incident at the Scunthorpe v Redcar League Cup meeting on Sunday April 6. The statement reads: Premier League: SCUNTHORPE v REDCAR: Sunday 6th April 2014 A racing incident occurred in Heat 7 of the above Meeting in which Josh Auty (Scunthorpe) and Richard Hall (Redcar) collided and both fell on the track. The Meeting Referee, Peter Clarke immediately indicated the disqualification of Auty as being the primary cause. However, Hall after removing his bike from the Fence went over to Auty, who was lying on the track and kicked him in the stomach. As a consequence the Referee ordered that Hall be excluded from the remainder of the Meeting, imposed a fine and sent a report to the SCB. The SCB received a statement from Hall by email early on Monday morning which both admitted the incident and expressed deep regret at his actions and stated that he will be making a full, public apology to Josh Auty, the Scunthorpe public who witnessed his actions and his own Team mates. Taking everything into account the penalty is that Richard Hall’s SCB Registration will be suspended for 30 days with effect from Monday 7th April.
  7. Buy Batchelor 5 Buy Kasprzak 5 11 Neils K Iversen 6 Fredrik Lindgren 6 Andreas Jonsson 4 Martin Smolinski 25 pts = Holder / Batchelor
  8. Here my heat by heat review for anyone who was not able to make it or for anyone intrested in what happened! http://www.ommerum.co.uk/2014/04/heathens-48-storm-40-match-review.html OmmerUm!
  9. You serious! was a cracking meeting, we was winning then Coventry pulled it back and was leading! Heat 3 with Cleggy piping Ritchings on the line, Williamson going wheel to wheel with Nielsen in heat 11! Closest match at Monmore Wood for ages and you say it wasnt a good meeting! No-one came that close last season and I think were in for a few tough matches at home this year as Coventry looked very strong and pushed us all the way till the 5-1's in heat 11 and 12!
  10. Ive put my prediction on my website...www.ommerum.co.uk Should be a belter tonight!
  11. When i saw the scoreline I can honestly say I said to myself I might give that match a miss. However I pay my money to watch NL speedway and follow a National League team so I should give these guys a chance and actually support them by going to watch them. Its a problem that the NL will always have, stand alone teams and development squads together only mean a differnce in qaulity in some teams but if this EL draft works then it will create more opertunites for the young kids and a bright future for British Speedway
  12. Have to say I did enjoy watching speedway but it didnt really provide the best racing, and to be honest the rider who gave us the best entertainment was Smolinski who looks like he could score healthy 6-9's in the GP's with good machinery and riding. The comentator was poor, but someone needed to tell him that one team are in White and Yellow and the other Red and Blue and stop discribing the bikes. In some of the heats he was quite good, and in what seemed his first speedway meeting he seemed to enjoy himslef. If you listen to the final again he actually discribes the race quite well, its was a new pairing and give him his due if he has never comentated on speedway before he did quite a good job...If anyone was at Coventry last friday night then I know who I would rather have. #TerryRyan-Daley Turbo Twins at it again tho as they seemed the only team to be riding as a pair...Hence why they won a pairs meeting!
  13. Really would be funny if Lindgren wins it, which I think he might! He flew around the Selco Classic at Brum on Wednesday! The only rider who is not Elite League in the Rebranded Elite League Event goes out and takes victory! Im not going, watching it on SKY I was tempted but after Friday night I have lossed enough money to Coventry Speedway to warrent me giving them more!
  14. Not the way you want the season to start but to be frank the meeting was right to start in my opinion, Greaves flew around the track and looked at ease I was truely shocked at how fast he was going, heat two wasnt to bad but then you started to see the problems arrive with track. It just rutted up badley on the corners and the riders by heat 5-6 were going round the corners upright and when Worrall tried to race a speedway bike the way it was ment to be rode he ended up getting very dirty! The problems were the way it was handled, the wait for anything to happen with a tractor was stupid...nothing happened for 10mins and then it was annouced that it was about to begin but that was 25mins later and then there was no point in grading it as it just made the track slick in the corners and really soft after churning it up. Should never have got past heat 4 and if I dont get a return ticket I dont think I will ever see Brandon again because they have just taken the Micheal with how we have been treated
  15. Yes Confirmed by club, Paul Starke is away with Somerset for the weekend so Ashley Morris will be our guest at Brandon tomorrow! I know Starke isnt really racing but with Paul and Steve in all three leagues, Perry, Clegg and Williamson in PL and NL i can see us using R/R and guests alot this season...which could be a torn in our season!
  16. I think this win for the Kings really emphasises that they are going to be pushing for all the honours in 2014!
  17. www.ommerum.blogspot.com for my latest blog post which is the National League season preview! Dont think were going to win it this year...
  18. £200,000 is a figure ive read! He got paid half and then the rest was suposed to be paid in this coming year. He shouldnt be that bad off if he is earning that sort of money in Poland and now hes with Tourn surely they offer big money too. I think the manager has his hands tied and knows that the money from Russia sponsers is so vast and with there not being a GP or the SGP being televised in Russia he making sure that hes fit for SEC and no running the risk of injury or the huge expense from the GP series! All in all, he should look after number one!
  19. Turbo Twins...Surley, even now they are called Team Forkrent Racing!
  20. Too True and a Speedway rider who cares about £ over becoming World Champion is not one who I want to watch! (As much as he was fantastic last year) Its Crazy but the only thing that may give him some leeway with me is that he is still reported that he owed money by Czestochowa. So disapointed!
  21. Yes they have but he is on record saying that entering the GP's costs him much money and that the rewards he gets back from it are massively out favored but the cost.
  22. Be intresting to see how many meetings he would have missed untill his first ride in a league somewhere! I still think this has something to do with the cost of entering the SGP and what is returned. Even though a return could be becoming World Champion which he was close to last season!
