Would Crowds Increase If Speedway Was Not On Television
Hunty replied to cityrebel's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Take SKY away and you take the money away which basically means the better riders will leave and the quality of speedway will be lower which wont be as intresting as a result the crowds will not INCREASE they will DECREASE! At first armchair supporters may go back to local tracks but it loosing SKY (unless the BSPA sort it out) will make speedway even more obscure and less people will know about it! One more point, British Final and other events like this the attendances might rise however! -
If your going to do this series you have got to sell it and make it the best you can. In my opinon the website is proberbly the key selling point for this organisation because its doing all its promotion through the social media! The website looks terrible and you shouldnt judge a book by its cover but it is so simple these days to make a very snazy website that will attract alot more attention! I under stand that Heathens wont bring alot to the table as is riders or wages but we have a very good support and I know alot of our fans travel simple as that really! And theres nothing wrong with supporting a third tier side, we put most of the bigger clubs to shame with support from fans and to be quite frank once we have found a site (if it ever happens) for a new track then you could see us rise up the leagues.

Also rules out the Heathens as we ride of Tuesdays!

''16 Speedway Superstars will do battle for the inaugural UKSpeedwaySeries Title over 6 rounds on some of the UK's top Speedway circuits. Racers will contest 16 qualifying heat races throughout the evening, culminating in an exclusive to the UKSpeedwaySeries "Main Event". The UKSpeedwaySeries promises to provide an action packed evening of entertainment packaged for Bike fans of all ages, offering a brand new and spectacular show for 2013!!! Upcoming Dates, Venues and Rider Roster will be unveiled in the very near future.'' Anyone heard anything of this! Seems a good idea but only if they get a high quality of riders and to be quite frank the website is very simple and cheap looking so im expecting it to be a premier league thing? An annoucement is being made a 5pm tonight, on there Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ukspeedwayseries/473680072670000 and there website is http://www.ukspeedwayseries.com/

-
Is there anywhere you can get more details of the AGM?
-
Coventry Strom v Dudley Heathens on 22nd March 2013 Dudley Heathens v Coventry Storm on 9th April 2013 First Fixtures of new season! What you think about that, Coventry Strom will have bigger attendance than the Bees in the first meeting of the season...Good Derby Match and a nice fixture for the fans of the good old days!

He has stated what many have stated on here, the biggest imput is that he belives that riders could mount legal action against the system becuase it hinders there right to find work! We need to sort these problems out or start to introduce a new system! Its rules and systems like this that make speedway in Britain unactractive and difficult to understand.

Dudley Heathens 2013 Team 1. Ashley Morris (8.51) 2. Dan Greenwood (5.90) 3. Gareth Isherwood (5.03) 4. Paul Starke (5.70) 5. Lewis Blackbird (7.01) 6. Max Clegg (4.54) 7. Nathan Greave (3.00) I think we have the right balance we have riders who could all improve their averages and we have a team that is well balanced and has strength all over! We have a 8pt, 7pt almost a 6pt two 5pts and the reserves. Going to a be a closer season this year for sure!
-
If they had contracts with length of time in then they could leave free of will when they expiered! These riders are stuck, they dont want to ride for the Parent clubs no more and other clubs cannot afford the transfer fees that they have stated!
-
First Dibs, Loan Fees and Potential Transfer Fees...Another rule thats perplexed me! So Brummies have signed Covatti (not saying he will) who could become a next superstar, so they sign him for nothing but next year they could get a healthly transfer fee if they sold him if he turned out to a brilliant rider! So by just finding a rider and him becoming an asset they could make money easily!
-
Very good idea, whats the point of having assets and not using them! To be quite frank its a money making scheme to have riders as assets, you have provide a loan fee to a rider to join your club. Is there any riders currently in the top two leagues who have not represented there parent club for the past five years? Be intresting to see!

Just read the the post on SpeedwayGP.com about Niels-Kristian Iversen stating he belives the Asset System is flawed. Im in total agreement with him, the amount of problems it has caused this year is beyond a joke and has left us fans questioning it ourselfs! We have Niels-Kristian Iversen who is struggling the get a ride elsewhere because Peterborough who he hasnt even rode for in the last two seasons wont release him to talk! Ben Barker is in a right mess at the moment as neither Birmingham or Coventry know what is what. Hans Andersen and Troy Batchelor are both caught up in it aswell! The post dose go on to say that alot of clubs have invested heavily in assets and it wouldnt be right to scrap it completly but surely to stop all this cofuision and bickering no more riders should be signed as assets from now on and they become there own agents just like in football where they find rides. The other thing it may lead to is a bit of stability in riders staying at clubs and not moving every season which is one of my biggest fustrations with the sport. Its a difficult one but somthing has to be done surley!
-
This fixture is going to be the highlight of next year no doubt about that! Should be a bostin clash!
-
Just what the NL needs, teams that are strong all over the country and actually makes the racing and meetings better! Last year there were too many 60-30 odd victories for Heathens and Mildenhall.....Dont see that this year! Going to be special!
-
They have just confirmed that Max and Nathan will both be reserves however Nathan has not signed as an asset as they didnt wnt him to have any pressure at 15 about commiting!
-
Max Clegg turns 16 in April? Im a bit confused on which position Clegg with ride?
-
So another signing for the Heathens who was been chased by others! So we have Nathan (3.00) and Max Clegg (4.79) at reserve, they will both be 15 when the season starts and we have double british champion in our ranks....Winning Mentality. Very happy with this signing, another positive we only have 2 signings left and 11.04 to play with!
-
He could be a suprise little package if he signs for Heathens, he was plagued by injury last year and the fixtures were to and far between but he looked to have hit a purple patch towards the end of the season. Would come in on a 5.25 average, and for a lad who is 20 he has a bit of experiance and is coming into the right sort of age in his national league career! Would leave 8.79 to play with which could see a 5.79 and a 3.00. The team would be strong all over if you get the 5 and 6 pointers to increase there averages a tad to 7's!
-
We have 14.04 remaining to play with! I dont know which route we will take but if we have two 3.00 pointers at reserve we could get an 8.04 into the main body of the team and have what would look to be a very very strong team! But i dont know where Clegg will race, is he most likely to be a reserve himself? Im a bit stuck on what we need to still get and where the current riders will position?

Scunthorpe Saints - Not Entering N L 2013 :(
Hunty replied to bigred's topic in National League Speedway
They have dropped out of the NL, they hope its only for a year! Shame this league needs the most amount of teams it could have to make it work znd get the most talant! http://www.scunthorpespeedway.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1353573250&archive=&start_from=&ucat=7& -
If think with Coventry starting a NL team that many of the lads who are local will have a choice to make! Tom has to stay for me, he has that average for a reason and him being at #1 will only be a asset to us!
-
People will say there is no British rider good enough so theres no point having one in the series! The FIM will always put a Brit in because we plow the most money into the series, and if you were going to choose a British rider for next year in my honest opinion Tai was the only option! He was the only rider in the SWC who looked like he could even keep up with the big boys! Harris will never recapture the form of 2010 when he came 6th, Nicholls is not going to do much more than Harris would! Tai is 22 and know what the GP's are all about after one of the weridest wildcard choices in 2010!
-
What more can he do? Hes rides for Britain in the SWC he was our best performer this year! Hes British...he can never change that now (even though he may want to)! He made that choice and he has to stick with it and we should support him!
-
Is he?
