Your the only one proving to be a fool here Sidney... You make steve brum look intelligent!! Your point was you thought no rider had retained a world title since penhall which in fact proved to be wrong as a least two riders have done it. Why would i want to research riders from the 80s? I wasnt even born until 89 so have little interest in riders from a past era that i wasnt around to watch. Know they were good riders and good on them but it really is irrelevent. Quite what Holder possibly retaining a title has to do with bruce penhall and erik gundersen who raced in a different era under a different format, i do not know
-
I have no intention of looking Penhall up. I know exactly how good a rider he was. You said itd be tough for Holder to win back to back world titles and that you thought Penhall was the last to do so " recently" despite being in the early 80s, over 30 years ago! Just admit you got it wrong instead of digging a hole and making yourself look a fool.

Why would Penhalls defence of a one off world final have anything to do with holder defending a title in a gp series, if you meant they were totally different?! So yes you were wrong and your knowledge of yhe sgp series must be poor if you cant remember pedersens back to back world titles or rickardssons Your making yourself look more of a fool by trying to talk yourself out of that post

Darcy Showing What A Pro He Is Again
Pinny replied to speedibee's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The only people Ward would bump into in a park at 4 in the morning would be a couple of doggers who, as it happens, would be breaking the law themselves. Unprofessional and wrong yes but what an over the top reaction from some on here I was wondering, did Ward admit to taking drugs before a test? I thought drug tests were completely different from booze ones... Its very rare you get tested for drugs by a copper in this country. -
Really like Boxall and hope one day he returns to the PL and becomes a heatleader once again. Spoke with him a few times at Newport and Somerset in the past, a top guy

Wasnt speaking of expierience Jacques although have had a few nervy trips through customs due to a long term unpaid fine issued by the courts followed by a warrant for my arrest. Finally paid it up in the winter! Despite people hoping it doesnt happen, Darcy will be fine unless as said theres something else we dont know of -

There is just no way he will be stopped coming in. He may be detained and searched but unless they find something else on him, he will be fine -

Mike Tyson had no trouble in entering the country for boxing after being convicted and jailed for rape and drug charges as well as being done for numerous other things so i should doubt Ward will get refused entry. Although he last boxed here about eight years ago. May get stopped and searched/checked over etc but cant imagine he will be refused entry. -

I am not condoning what Darcy has done for one second... Its unprofessional what he has done and he must face up to it. He has been punished in his homeland. I wouldnt imagine his visa will be a problem. Look at some of todays music stars who perform here! It wasnt long ago Snoop Dogg faced drug and gun charges (a lot worse) and was found guilty altho escaped prison... He still plays concerts in the UK. And as someone pointed out to me yesterdays, some of the boxers who fly in to the UK have a list of convictions as long as their arm!!! Hes been a very silly boy for sure but people mentioning the likes of Lee are off the mark. He was growing and selling drugs which is another level. Havelock and Bird got found with it in them whilst racing and so did Frank Smart and Roger Lobb. Darcy has not been found with it in him whilst racing . Hes been a silly boy but hes young and talented enough to go on and be a world champ and get over this. -
I think Edinburgh look superb this season
-
That evening at Swindon was superb. I remember in one of the opening meetings in a challenge, Swindon came here at beat us quite convincingly . Cunningham was superb with a 15 point maximum, think Watson got a hatful that day including a 6 pointer from 15 metres with Peglar in heat 14. But he couldnt get near Cunningham. And I think we got pasted in the return at Swindon that night. But then we murdered them at home twice in meaningful meetings and won up there twice as well, including the Trophy quarter finals I think. Great days.

Oh aye Henriksson would dish it out as would Lindqvist and even NKI was hard as nails for Newport.
-
No doubting Pickering and Staechmann were a fine top duo, but were never the best in the league. Smart and Watson, Stoney and Karlsson (later then Stead), Wilson and Compton (previously Stead), Bird/Shields/Morton, Harris & Zagar are just a few that stand out as being that bit better. Pickering was always a fine visitor to Newport, even if he did like to throw it about a bit... I remember him stuffing Lindqvist in the fourth bend fence at Newport ending his season and was reminded the other day of him completely stuffing Ben Howe into the first bend fence after Howe had beaten him twice going into the last heat. where the incident happened. A damn good rider though.
-
Wilson didnt like anyone who beat him... refused to shake the hands of Watson and Henriksson many times at Newport when they beat him.
-
Olsen was a class act in 1999... some of his tussles at Newport with Watson were thrilling to watch, and the PLRC at Sheffield. He never seemed to be the same powerful figure after 1999 though.
-
Stumbled on some old scorecards whilst having a clear out on my PC... what has happened to the following riders? Jesper Olsen Neville Tatum Paul Bentley Scott Swain Phillipe Berge Robert Eriksson Scott Lamb Steve Masters Peter Jeffrey Paul Pickering Dave Mullett Petri Kokko Mario Jirout All were superb riders at PL level on their day, most of them true number ones who were in action when I first started going to speedway in the late 90s. What are they doing now?
-
But from good sources, the switch to Rodney Parade for the County has proved very successful. Would be brilliant if someone did look into taking speedway to the former County stadium, would be a very good venue and if as is said the council are keen to get the sport back to the city, then they may look at this.

Roads Named After Speedway Riders ?

Gjedde Avenue in Berwick -
And of course, youve never gone off topic on a thread before?
-
Riders go where their offered the best deals its as simple as that, anyone who thinks they chose their club because of "the benefits" are wrong. You can be sure the SRBF meeting was sod all to do with any rider signing for Berwick.... otherwise you'd have the likes of Harris, Barker, Korneliussen etc on the phone to Anderson begging for a team place. Although I am sure the Berwick PR guru will find a paragraph or two stating they'd love to ride there if it was an EL club! There is no doubt the Andersons have made Berwick a more attractive place to ride since Waite's reign but like the Malletts with Newport, are the crowds any better or even as good as when the previous promoter was in charge?
-
All three are streets ahead of Tai out of EL racing.
-
Or maybe they were just simply offered good points money and deals for 2013? TBH its 99.999% the reason why riders sign for a club

Yet again one rule for one and one rule for another... what a total effing joke the powers that be are in this country.
