The F1 in march in Australia has been cancelled already . Its held in Melbourne where we have no active cases. So what chance have around 500-1000 people got of gathering at a third rate sport (as thats essentially what it is to joe public) in March in the UK? Where there are a huge amount of cases. It wont be happening. And the promoters know it so i dont see why they are pretending only to let fans down at the last minute. The season will be pushed back and back and before you know it will be October.

In all honesty , whoever is saying forget 2021 is right. The virus is miles away from going down to 0 cases , and even when it does they wont allow fans to flock back to stadiums. Its being realistic to think 2022 is the earliest crowds will be back in

The end of Swindon Speedway. Another Southern track gone. No way will a new stadium ever be built, this virus is the perfect excuse to close the place down once and for all. Used to love my trips to Swindon with the Wasps , watching on the fourth bend. Quality.

Seems I replied to the wrong thread , was meant to reply to the one with the list of British riders with someone with an idea for a league structure. My bad.

Victoria for the last 3 months or so, maybe less, has seen a slow return to normal life. Masks no longer compulsory outdoors , social distancing relaxed etc. Up until two weeks ago, masks weren't compulsory inside either. We had 60 days of no new cases and 0 active cases but just before christmas a couple came over from Sydney with the virus so a small spread started again but it was stamped on pretty quick. Anyone coming from overseas has to isolate in a hotel for two weeks on arrival , costing around $3500. So still far from normal and whilst most of the rest of the world is still suffering big cases and numbers, that isnt going to change. I remember back in March/April 2020 some said this virus could be causing carnage well into 2022 and at the moment that looks like being the case. my old man was due to come this Christmas just gone and obviously had to cancel. We said dont worry as next year would be better with the Ashes being held in Australia. Now its looking increasingly likely he wont be able to come this christmas either.

It shows how poor a standard the country has slipped to when you have riders like Ellis as heat leaders. What a sorry state the sport is in. Its on its death bed for sure , in the UK at least.

Have to disagree. Doyle has always doubled up and rode as often as he can. Before settling with a family and after. Its that constant determination that seen him become a world champ. Everybody knows he probably has less skill than most former world champions but he worked his balls off and reaped the rewards. I remember him at Newport, he was only about 50 percent fit during the bulk of his spell there yet tried his nuts off in every race. Compare his attitude to Lamberts and there is no comparison I am afraid. The theory that Lambert has it all to prove now and Doyle is proven is also nonsense, it would make sense riding more often at a younger age. If he wasnt a Lynn rider I am sure attitudes would be a whole lot different off their fans.

You can say what you like , Doyle flat out rides here and always has , before he had a family here. Tai and Lambert now both dont ride here.
-
So what? Doyle has been one of the most committed riders I have seen on UK shores in 20 odd years. He has given nothing but 100 percent in every race he goes out in, never misses a meeting because he can''t be arsed and is pure entertainment. Has not once considered ducking the UK and would ride every day of the year if he could. You would struggle to find a rider past or present or future who puts a club before their family. Lambert is just a prima donna, big sulking baby and your probably better off without him long term.

Extremely odd ... there will without doubt be more to this.

Chapman and especially Godfrey are a pair of absolute clowns. Sad to see Rye go. So many southern based sides gone in the past 15 years. Exeter, Trelawny, Reading, Oxford, Newport, Arena , Rye. Sad.

Briggs, Fundin, Mauger , Crump, Rickardsson, Roll of honour.
Pinny replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Years Gone By
Rickardsson certainly the best ive seen in my era (1999-2020). Superb. Nicki P , Crump, Woffy and Hancock would complete my top 5 . Before anyone starts, thats my era. Not counting anyone before hand. -
Antonio Lindbäck has decided to retire

Superb talent and remember him bursting onto the scene well. I think it would be fair to say with his talent at a young age , he should of ended up with a world championship medal. was arguably the most exciting rider in the world around 2004/5/6ish. -
Stoke looks no different now to what it did 20 years ago

Is the first paragraph referring to who I think it is ?

Sure it was JBJ around 2005

Theres putting money into riders and theres showing off on here about it. Its not the first time he has done it on here and wont be the last.
-
Why? Its as if your after suck up messages . Who cares how much you sponsor riders. Its like your trying to seek attention. i have no reason to PM you , i couldnt careless if you sponsor a rider or not.

What do you want, a medal?

Cracking sentencing by the judge. You can even see by his photo on that article that drugs have started to get a grip of him. An utter scumbag and is locked up where he belongs. Hopefully never seen on the speedway scene again. Addiction must of been pretty bad to be robbing people at knifepoint for cash and cards. Then again, he always has been a scumbag.

The blokes always been a bell to be honest.

Birmingham Brummies 2020
Pinny replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Didn't you actually post an email on here first? So in affect, you made it public first. The whole season ticket thing is something that baffles me. Over a season, how much do you actually save? Just pay for the meetings you attend, so what if a season ticket saves you 50 quid a season. Stinks of tightness to me. -
I have thought for a long time that online streaming would be nothing other than a positive for speedway clubs. It can''t cost all that much to set up, and I seriously don't think it would hamper crowds that much either. Even if it did, you would have plenty of neutrals tuning in to watch. I know i would watch a couple of meetings a week. Put it this way, I struggle to believe all incomings for a home meeting would be less than if they didn't stream them. Even if you only got 2-300 people streaming, at a tenner a meeting thats an extra 3 grand. I have just used random figures before anyone jumps on that. Times are changing, the world is moving on. Get with the times and provide online streaming. Lets be honest, a proper Swindon fan for example wouldn't not go to a home meeting just because he can watch it at home for a few quid cheaper. For the ones who do go, 99 percent attend for the company, the presence, the smell and the part of a night or afternoon out. Many people can't afford to attend with their two kids, mrs and mate. And thats why they arent going anymore. But they can sure as hell afford to stream it in their living room for the five of them for about a tenner. It would obviously take some work to plan, price and launch but if done properly and not by a few buffoons then it can only be a success.

Zmarzlik is head and shoulders above, who cares if he has the fastest bikes, the same could be said for Woffy numerous times he won it. His straight line speed was way faster than anyone else. Rickardsson looked his bike was 1000cc at times. It happens. Zmarzlik without a doubt the best rider in the world right now, absolutely superb.
