Plymouth v Newcastle Tuesday 31st August
Pinny replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fully applaud the Plymouth promotion this year , have just got on with things despite some expected poor results and seem to be thriving. If they can get Barker back as well , they have a superb basis for a team next year. I am sure if hes banging in huge scores at home each week, his away form will improve as well. What average would Crump be on next season? -
CARDIFF to be or not to be?
Pinny replied to lbw's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Mad to think its been over 8 years since I attended a GP in Cardiff but would be mad to move it. Bang in the middle of the city , brilliant day out and usually pretty good event as a whole. -
Exactly right, people thinking the current crop are set for huge things because their beating eachother in the UK leagues are dreaming. Fair play to Lambert and Bewley, they went abroad and stuck at it and are reaping the rewards. Staying in the UK with the odd under 21's meeting abroad will do nothing to improve them.

I remember the likes of Stead, Howe, Neath, Brady, Appleton, Allen to name a few being much more competitive in a stronger second tier and all having much more ability than the current crop and how many of them went on to be better than at best a good second string in the top tier? Thats not a dig at any of them either before anyone starts. Just what people expected of them . Then you have Kennett and Bridger too. I actually agree with Daniel Smith… our future on the world stage looks very bleak.

If the beer is watered down then yes youd hundred percent want to pay less.

Nicholls still absolute class even at his age, what an absolute credit to Uk speedway he has been. A fair few of these Aussies could take a leaf out of his book Be a very sad day when he calls it a day.

How clubs thought crowds would rocket after covid is a madness, surely theyd know fans pockets would be tighter than ever after a world wide crisis?

Gjedde brilliant for Newport too. Superb. Dont think Chris Holder would be the answer for Sheffield either. Shadow of the rider he was

The changing of heats/laps etc is a typical BSPA change... changing something that doesn't need thinking. A completely new governing body full of young, enthusiastic people with visions of making the sport value for money is what is needed to replace that berk Godfrey and his following. Where you find these people I do not know.

Stonehewer, Nicki Pedersen, Henriksson, Wato , Iversen. As said by others though, could be different if asked tomorrow.

It has of course but he is still beating the top boys in both leagues. What is his actual 2021 championship average, anybody know?
-
I remember around 5 years ago he was reserve for Poole and was awful , could only really beat the graded reserves at the time. Very impressive how hes bounced back and become one of the top championship riders again. Will he retire or do one more season I wonder?

Bjarne Pedersen maximum anyone? -
If it wasnt for Mole , Workington would never of returned when they did and Birmingham wouldnt of in the mid 2000’s either.

And to think a couple of years ago, I was having a discussion on here with people regarding the strength of the Premier League/Championnship and how it was much stronger back in the day than these days. I was then laughed at and told Kyle Howarth , Ricky Wells et all would of averaged 10 point figures in the company of Wilson, Stonehewer, Carr, Watson, Schott etc Be interesting if someone could drag that thread back up.

Gollob was nowhere near good enough and consistent enough during the Rickardsson/Crump/Pedersen era to get close to dominating. Put him on a big wide track with rockets underneath him and he was superb to watch, however as proven season upon season, he wasn't consistent enough to win a world title until Rickardsson had retired, Crump and Pedersen were passed their peak and the overall quality in the line up was well below the standards of previous seasons. I actually liked Gollob a lot, in full flight a joy to watch and had that aura about him. But to consider him in the same breath as the likes of Ricko, Pedersen, Crump, Hancock is ridiculous.

Awesome. Even better after his ban than before too.
