  1. True . Out of all declared riders so far thought, Doyle would be my number one choice. Full of effort, entertaining , points machine and actually enjoys riding in the UK. Loved him in his half season at Newport.
  2. Even if Doyle isn't his once dominant self, he should still ease to an 8.5 average in this league at least. Also, you know that he will never give anything other than 100 percent.
  3. Are people really arguing over 0.01? Despite the team being officially confirmed with the BSPA? Jesus.
  4. Think we done it as well with Neath and Appleton in 1999
  5. In all fairness , in I think 2007 , some of the racing at Newport was superb. We had a rubbish side on paper , Rajkowski had replaced Craig Watson during the winter, but ended up being half decent for us. I think we ended up about 10th but there was plenty of last heat deciders and some awesome racing. That said, I would still of preferred poorer racing and better results as would the majority of people.
  6. Wouldnt of been a certain Mr Gjedde your talking about, would it?
  7. Elkins I thought wasnt too bad a rider , just had more engine failures than every other combined but when he completed four laps he didnt seem too bad. I remember him coming out in heat 15 one year at Newport and ruining either Wato or Anders maximum and done pretty well that night in the return leg back at Reading.
  8. People constantly give Shovlar stick and say he is the main embarrassment to the promotion and club in general, but I would say Lisa Collette and Starman are by far and away the worst two.
  9. Shovvy gives far more to this forum than you do to be honest. Has been on here since before you were born probably . Hes quality.
  10. What strikes me as quite alarming, is the fact that the internet and social media in particular have gained in popularity over the years whilst this forum is getting quieter and quieter by the month. The winter months on here used to be full of discussions, anticipation for the new season and new signings etc... nowadays it really is flat on here barring a few threads.
  11. Not many were better out the gate than Anders. He had a right set of elbows on him into the first bend as well, as Phil Morris will confirm. Thats one of the things about him every one liked , all the so called dirty riders would come to Newport and he would sort them straight out. in his later years at Newport he progressed to being more than just a gater too and would often miss the gate and pick the opposition apart. Great days , the sport could do with more like him now for sure.
  12. Think you got that wrong , Anders wiped Stoney out at Sheffield and Stoney chased him with a shovel. i remember the 1999 season anders and frank smart ended up 3&4 for newport and Anders out gated Stoney. Stoney was all over him like a rash but the minute hed of made a move, Smartey would of been through. Superb action. Always loved Anders as a Wasp fan but Stoney was awesome entertainment. i will add , in my long time as a Wasp fan, Stoney was prob the opponent i always looked forward to riding at newport as far as opponents go. Superb style , awesome rider, panto villain and a top bloke. Awesome stuff
  13. If he is half as good as his Dad was he will be doing well , superb ambassador for the PL in its day.
  14. Didnt Poole get peeved off cos they said they'd work around his foreign commitments? He left cos Glasgow offered a big wad of cash , and cant blame either side. Glasgow have cash to offer and want an almost certain bargain averaged rider and Basso wants as much money as poss. No problem . But don’t come on here dressing it up as something else though .
  15. What, BV were looking at signing Adams as well as Crump?! Wasnt John Perrin the BV promoter at the time? I very much doubt he would of stumped up for Crump and Adams in the same side !
  16. Poole over the years have offered riders way more than anyone else to get them so its a bit of karma seeing one of their riders head elsewhere for more money! Reading some of their fans meltdowns on here has been quality.
  17. Complin a huge risk in my opinion. Always enjoyed watching him ride and he nearly joined Newport in 2009 when the Malletts first took over but we went with Lemon instead. But he was only ever a 7 pointer in his peak and after 10 years away, getting anywhere remotely near that is going to be a huge ask to say the least. He had a 4/5 year retirement before but was a lot younger back then, being absent from his mid twenties to mid thirties and being expected to come back and score decent points seems unrealistic. That said, he was superb to watch and pure entertainment and I absolutely hope he can come back and do well. The whole make up of the Newcastle team IMO looks iffy. Is Wilson Dean really an 8 point number 1? Will the other Kiwi manage anything above 2.5/3.00?
  18. Kemp is probably one of the most over rated British riders for a long time.
  19. I just remember in 2002 and 2003 his league form was blistering until he had his big serious crash which completely ruined his career and turned him from a world star with a big likelihood of winning a world title into an average 6 point league rider. edit - i stand corrected. His 2002 league form dipped on his 2001 form but he went to Poole and averaged nearly 9.00 in 2003 , baring in mind that was when all the top riders raced in the uk too. He was also joint top of the gps until his nasty crash i think.
  20. Remember that crash however think your wrong to say Dryml was never the same rider again - in 2002 and 2003 he was absolutely flying.
  21. Bridger would of been one rider i would of despised riding for Newport. Wouldnt of ever gone to watch him.
  22. Bombers always on a guarantee, like most of the current top UK riders. good signing for Berwick
