Grant Jr was always a total knob as a speedway rider as well.

Certain events in many sports have a spiritual home, in Speedways case the home of the PLRC is Sheffield. Enjoyed some great Sunday afternoons/ evenings back in the day there watching Anders and Wato. Always a huge crowd and great atmosphere. They were the days. When Stoney was Mr Workington, Wilson for Sheffield, Carr for Edinburgh, Pickering for Stoke , Wato for Newport, Coles for Exeter, Lanham for Arena, Thorp for Hull etc…. When clubs had proper, loyal , long term number ones. So sad to see how low the sport in the UK has fallen.

It must be bad if their choosing Berwick over Newcastle. Really bad.

This could be worse than the infamous Mildenhall season. Ok, they have won a meeting but recent performances are absolutely diabolical. cant see them finishing the season and certainly cant see them being at the tapes next year

Monarchs vs Diamonds 7.30pm Friday 10th June

On various videos I watched years ago from Edinburgh, I always remember the commentator being so biased it was unreal. Any time a home rider was passed or beaten, there was always a "valid"excuse. -
10.6.22 - Scunny v Glasgow, League
Pinny replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Said it elsewhere, think was Poole Vs Leicester thread that got deleted. This Glasgow team needed Cook to be banging in huge scores week in week out and Ostergaard to be a strong second heatleader to allow Basso and Brennan to kick on a bit. It isn't happening at the moment. Cook seems to still be a half decent number one but not the major force he was for so many years whilst Ostergaard is 40 coming back from a serious injury. Still look a decent team but can't see them up there with Poole and Leicester. -
Belle Vue v Ipswich Monday June 6th Live on TV
Pinny replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Crowds are always a disaster on tv unless a play off meeting etc, it is baffling why they constantly show the empty terraces and stands. Just looks horrendous. -
Taken this long for Steve Brum to be confirmed as a fraud, most knew it years ago

Birmingham v Oxford Wed 18th May
Pinny replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Imagine 10-15 years ago being in a last heat decider. Your guest would always go out for you and try and get the win. Spineless management , youd offer Howarth extra to go out and try and get a result. -
4 blokes in charge and the only one whos been involved in promotion is Laurence Rogers. That spells disaster surely?

Newcastle vs Oxford SGB Championship Sun 24 Apr 4pm
Pinny replied to StevePark's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Newcastle wont last the season. Awful team building. And not sure i have any sympathy. -
Jirout rode about 6/8 meetings before being sacked didnt he? was a brainless signing, broke his back the season before and was never ever going to hit the heights he did at Somerset. Lund if i remember correctly came in and averaged around 6 and got sacked for Jason Lyons. Lund then came to Newport.

Absolutely horrible news. he was absolutely superb at his job - his passion for the sport was unrivalled. Watching live speedway on tv will never be the same again. RIP

Great to see Oxford back. Now for Swindon, Newport, Exeter, Reading etc

Have to admit the new Site is absolutely terrible - takes forever to load on phone, laptop and desktop and is hard to navigate imo. Since websites have been designed to be mobile friendly , a lot of websites in general have taken a downturn in standard but at least most of them load quick. This new BSPA site is just horrendous on every level. Surely needs sorting.

Plymouth v Poole KO Cup 1st leg 5/4/22
Pinny replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Agreed, Barker despite having his issues at times off track is pure box office on it and dirty he is not. -
If Auty is using old machinery at the moment , i doubt he is the only one! I do agree though that he has probably lost the bug for the sport. A year off through covid as well as a seperation / divorce will hit some hard for sure.

BERWICK v BIRMINGHAM (Championship) April 2nd 7pm

Harris is notorious for having engine failures galore in the opening months before finishing the year strongly . Ask Coventry fans. -

Redcar v Newcastle Tyne Tees Trophy 25/03/22
Pinny replied to Yearbyred's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So whats the go with Wilson Dean and Roynon? Wiping him out after the race has finished seems a bit low ? -
You never know. One suspects that if Iversen starts well for Lynn, it will be hard for both parties to replace him. Obviously we will see though. regarding Belle Vues mess of team building , even with Allen they still look a half decent side which could be worrying for other sides considering they have room to sign another top rider after a few weeks .

Plenty of young riders have dominated in the third tier/ conference league/ whatever its called these days , but not gone on to big things when moving up a league. Martin Williams and Barrie Evans are two that spring to mind. Evans as a 15/16 year old was touted as being a superstar and was poor at best in the PL. Kemp may well turn out to be better of course but has had a few seasons in the second tier now and his average hasnt improved a great deal

Birmingham need about a 1000 a week to keep going and look like fielding another awful side , struggling to see how they make the end of the season tbh.
-
Its up there though. Imagine a newbie attending BV and Woffy scoring a max , then newbie going to Ipswich a week later and asking why Woffy isnt there. “Because he can only be bothered to ride home matches”
