  1. Disagree when it comes to league racing. NKI had a few years as the top rider in the Polish league. Never won a world title granted but prime league NKI is as good as any of those riders have been ij league racing .
  2. In all fairness, by that comment then Poole deserved to win it in about 2011 when Coventry were 20 odd points behind in the league table and won the playoffs at Poole?
  3. And people think Shovlar is bad for Poole Speedway. Skidmark twice as bad IMO.
  4. An absolute farce how we are in the final week of October, in fact the final two days of October, and there are various meetings that are still to take place. To be honest, each year since Newport folded my interest has faded more and more but have still had a quick browse on here a few times a week and find it baffling how so many clubs had empty race nights during the hottest and driest UK summer for some time yet there is a big scramble to try and complete meetings now. Another huge subject to discuss and attempt to sort out at the AGM this winter.
  5. He done consecutive seasons with Exeter and Trelawny in the second tier.
  6. Great shame to think Swindon wont be back. Absolutely bonkers to think Swindon, Newport, Reading, Exeter, Somerset and Trelawny all gone. Used to love my visits to Swindon, from giving them a pasting in 1999 twice in the league and cup , watching Glenn Cunningham get 5-1d twice in 13 and 15 by Wato and Smarty and having a tantrum, to the 2000/2001 days when the Robins spanked us, to the year we won with Ashley Jones in the side at number 3... great days. Always a great atmosphere on the home straight. Will always remember Phil Morris wiping out Fryer and Fryer getting up and headbutting him . Moggo guesting for Newport and getting an 18 pointer beating Fryer 3 times. Bjarne Pedersen and Fryer having a 4 lap superb side by side race.
  7. Not sure on Flint but Brennan will easily surpass the likes of King and Lawson. Pretty comfortably.
  8. Complete farce. I reckon Bellers is bang on the money, Plymouth aren't fit to be a second tier club.
  9. Iversen was a Newport rider in 2003, Nilsson and Doyle were 2011. And even then , Nilsson was sacked and replaced with Doyle. but good on him getting through on merit, shame the Poole Prat wont just congratulate him on it rather than slate him especially as the likes of Lindback and KK got in year on year and were absolute dross. Guess now Steve Worrall is the star attraction each week at Poole, that seems like a distant memory.
  10. Belle Vue still look title favs to me. Way stronger than Ipswich IMO.
  11. Frank Smart held his hands up, served an 18 month ban and came back after it. And arguably had his best ever season the year he came back. Lobb denied it I think and also got banned but came back and done pretty well I think. Bird didn't ever pay the fine as far as I remember.
  12. George English was a fine promoter at Newcastle , his record proves that. Having met him years ago at Newcastle (around 2009ish) , you could tell he lived and breathed Newcastle Speedway. However after reading posts since coinciding with his departure , things seem to of gone sour. Either way, Newcastle ran year in year out whilst he was involved and since he departed the club, its gone downhill rapidly.
  13. Hans Andersen used to do this on a weekly basis. If the ref lets it go thats his problem, not Ostergaards.
  14. Anyone would think Glasgow has been the mecca of speedway for years on end - can remember some awful meetings there over the years just like any track. Talk about sour grapes.
  15. Its another in a long list of reasons why the sport isnt taken seriously anymore and why the crowds are so embarrassingly low. The new generation of riders just don't give a toss about the fans , simple as that.
  16. Grant Jr was always a total knob as a speedway rider as well.
  17. Surely not big Garry who was kauko niemienens mechanic??
  18. Certain events in many sports have a spiritual home, in Speedways case the home of the PLRC is Sheffield. Enjoyed some great Sunday afternoons/ evenings back in the day there watching Anders and Wato. Always a huge crowd and great atmosphere. They were the days. When Stoney was Mr Workington, Wilson for Sheffield, Carr for Edinburgh, Pickering for Stoke , Wato for Newport, Coles for Exeter, Lanham for Arena, Thorp for Hull etc…. When clubs had proper, loyal , long term number ones. So sad to see how low the sport in the UK has fallen.
  19. It must be bad if their choosing Berwick over Newcastle. Really bad.
  20. This could be worse than the infamous Mildenhall season. Ok, they have won a meeting but recent performances are absolutely diabolical. cant see them finishing the season and certainly cant see them being at the tapes next year
  21. On various videos I watched years ago from Edinburgh, I always remember the commentator being so biased it was unreal. Any time a home rider was passed or beaten, there was always a "valid"excuse.
  22. Said it elsewhere, think was Poole Vs Leicester thread that got deleted. This Glasgow team needed Cook to be banging in huge scores week in week out and Ostergaard to be a strong second heatleader to allow Basso and Brennan to kick on a bit. It isn't happening at the moment. Cook seems to still be a half decent number one but not the major force he was for so many years whilst Ostergaard is 40 coming back from a serious injury. Still look a decent team but can't see them up there with Poole and Leicester.
  23. Crowds are always a disaster on tv unless a play off meeting etc, it is baffling why they constantly show the empty terraces and stands. Just looks horrendous.
