Just shows how far the standard of the younger generation has dropped. i went to the 2003 u21 final at Sheffield which Stead won, Harris was a 9 point number 1 for Trelawny and didnt even make the final. Lee Richardson in 99 won the world under 21 final in a stellar line up. You now have second tier reserves on the podium. what on earth has happened to junior speedway in the uk?

Klindt has taken the p""s for years now, why anyone bothers signing him is a mystery.

Workington v Scunthorpe 30/05/26 Championship 6pm.
Pinny replied to topaz325's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You could easily of set this system up ten years ago with the technology around then. Stop talking bollocks as usual. -
The main let down for this team has been Harris so far without a doubt. Pedersen probably hasnt lived up to the hype as much as people hoped and Hausl has been poor but they both came in on 5 point averages. The days of signing a Bjerre, a Bjarne, a Zagar, an Iversen etc to come in as unknown foreigners and average 9 in their first season are long gone sadly.

Oxford vs Poole KOC QF 13/05/26 1st leg
Pinny replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
You can say what you like about Poole, despite having fans like Shovlar who still chats to that dirty paedo Shawn, they win trophys. There is no doubt they would still be competing at the top end at least if they were still in the top tier. They dropped a league and shred bucket loads on outgoings yet have still maintained the same crowds each week. -
Despite having disagreements with his father over the years, its sad to see a rider of his caliber not riding in the UK leagues this year. He seems to fall in the same category as Roynon, always in the wrong place at wrong time.

Poole Pirates Vs Redcar Bears 6th May Championship
Pinny replied to Shaleshifter's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
We all know Shovlar is full of nonsense and lies. Ward could ride any track and despite his off track antics, was a genuine superstar on a bike. Its sad that after returning from his ban and clearly maturing, he suffered that shocking injury that finished him. Arena for me was a great track but preferred it before they made changes to it. Think around 03 they widened it or something. Its what makes me laugh about people who used to call the likes of Lanham and Colin White one track ponys. They could ride any track but stepped it up a notch around Arena. its a much missed track. -
Sorry for your loss. Had a few run ins with him on here but at least he was no snowflake running off to the admins and mods every five minutes. Hope he gets a good send off.

Glasgow v Edinburgh, BSN, Sunday 3 May 3pm

Agree, the days of seeing Henriksson stuff Morris into the turn 1 fence three times in one afternoon or Compton shoving Mullet over the fence are long gone. -

Glasgow showing that top heavy teams with gash reserves very rarely work. -

Poole fans whinging about a track lmao. How comical. -
You would think an air fence thats 100 percent fixed down with no movement in it would see riders bouncing back into the track way more than they do now. It would be interesting to see if the number of injuries have decreased or increased since introducing air fences as well.

Back in the day, I remember you often had top riders missing in the premier league for stuff at weekends but legit things like world longtrack series, world under 21 qualis etc. I remember Newport missing Glenn Cunningham on a few Sundays for world long track events and Wato, you don't mind if its a couple of times for a legit reason. As years have progressed the absences have become more ridiculous, missing a meeting for your club as your Polish club wants you at a photo shoot and press and practice and what have you. Its pathetic. It really is gutting to see what a laughing stock the sport is nowadays. I'm not sure if such a slump has happened before in the 60s, 70s or 80s but the state of the sport now compared to the years I followed (90s and 00s) is something that I can't see a way back from. Promoters are mostly to blame, when things started slipping in the winter instead of nipping those issues in the bud there and then, they buried the heads in the sand and this is the result of it.

Poole v Scunthorpe 8/4/26 KO cup
Pinny replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It was a daft decision to bring Pickering in from the clown at Scunny. Pickering is class and a brilliant rider but to waste such a chunk of team building on him as well as presumably the amount he is being paid? Bonkers decision. The rest of the team is rubbish and Harrison is expected to ride as third heatleader when he should be second string paired with a heatleader to develop more.
