  1. Doesn't Lawson work as a plasterer as well? If so good on him for earning a living away from the sport. At least he isn't one of these teenager prima donnas who get everything top of the range and turn up and span yet do sod all on track.

  3. That meeting had it all. Heat 14 and we were about 6 points down and we brought in Emil Lindqvist as a tac sub for one of the reserves and Wato as a golden double tac from 15 metres back. Glasgow gated on a 5-1 but Lindqvist dived under one of the Glasgow riders on turn 2 and the Glasgow rider come down. By the time Emil got back to the pits there was a crowd of Glasgow riders , management and mechanics waiting for him at the pits gate and he was pulled from his bike and stamped on on the floor. That tosser Beveridge was the one to cause his shoulder to pop out which effectively ended his career. in the rerun Smart replaced Lindqvist and we got the 8-1 and won the meeting. Wato was sensational that day, possibly the best performance I ever seen from him in a Newport race jacket. Superb. Think he got 19. i have said it before but Lindqvist would of gone on to become a top rider. He came over with Sweden under 21s and got the most faultless 15 point maximum I have witnessed at Newport against the Wasps. Beat Wato from the back three times and wiped the floor with Henriksson three times. When he signed for us a few weeks later his team riding was another level for such a young rider. He could gate, pass and team ride. That shoulder injury finished him, he did come back that season but i think his shoulder popped out mid race and he crashed again. Tim Stone told us that the plan was for him and Anders to spearhead the 2000 side the following season and he was going to bring his top gear and set ups over. Obviously never happened. i seen iversen come over and he was impressive to say the least but Lindqvist, for me, would of been better.
  4. He really is pathetic. Bigger gating tart than Adam Allott and Brent Werner combined.
  5. The best thing Sam ever done was giving paedo Shawn a slap in the car park. Shame he didn't stamp all over his head now looking back. 😂 Does anyone remember the 99 PLRC at Sheffield and former rider Derrol Keats glassing a fan in the bar? Sure he got banged up for it.

  7. Fair enough but even so the line up is hardly top quality. Harris has quite obviously been off it this year and without looking at his average I would say its well down on last season.
  8. Could argue that Rickardsson wouldnt of won it in 99 if Loram had raced a full season and was it 05/06 when Andersen was on fire and would probably of won it had he raced all season?
  9. Will always be a controversial guy but can't fault his three world titles. I remember watching him get a maximum at Newport for Rye in his debut season and you just knew he was going to be good, he stagnated for a year or so at Wolves and looked a million miles away from being a world champion but fair play to him. He has the same amount of titles as Crump and Pedersen. Would you rate him as highly as them? Not for me. But for people to compare the likes of Andy Smith and Gary Havelock to him is a joke and shows how thick the poster must be.
  10. I would hazard a guess that were the pairs or the riders championship to be held at BV, the crowd would be even lower than what they get for a league match. Plus, Sheffield is the home of the second tier riders championship IMO. Its good that they are bringing the events back though. The old riders championship at Sheffield used to be a fantastic day out as were the fours at Peterborough and the pairs at Workington.
  11. i would not pay him a penny after that performance. there are some riders you don't ask to guest and he is one of them. Its like teams who would ask Bjarne Pedersen to guest for them vs Poole. Why would you bother? R/R giving everyone a ride would of been a much better decision and probably would of given Glasgow the win. Glasgow have improved ten fold, great track , great fans, great stadium but whoever makes the team decisions needs the boot.
  12. You have just completely contradicted yourself massively. The fact Castagna is also just as close to the GPs as Harris shows what an easy route it was to get there. Harris has been poor this season and is getting on in age, so yes I think its fair to say he has lost his edge.
  13. Give the boy a break, he had just trebled his highest wage of the season he was probably excited. 😅 Seriously though, must be encouraging to see Hausl start to find some form. The side was built poorly from the off IMO with two poor reserves. It relied on both Hausl and Pedersen to hit the ground running and make light work of their assessed averages which neither have done. Next year though with both on real averages, a good side could be built. You have to wonder if you would bother retaining Harris again though, has lost his edge this year.
  14. He has showed up year after year and you very rarely see him let his British team down. Remember him coming to the UK in about 2003/4 ish and you would never of thought he would be a world champion. He rode for my side in our final year with a badly knackered shoulder and held off surgery until we had won the KO cup and will always think a lot of him for that. He has come back from many nasty injurys that would end most careers as well. Top rider and top guy.
  15. i agree. i have always liked Doyle, gives it nothing but 100 percent and has been more committed to the UK than the likes of Woffinden and Lambert down the years. the sport will miss him when he retires.
  16. What happened? Glasgow missing Howarth badly. That is a pathetic performance from the guest.
  17. Glasgow deserve to lose this picking Kemp to ride at number 1. A pathetic rider with a piss poor attitude.

  21. Correct. losing home and away every week at rock bottom of the table is not being competitive. i should know, i was a Newport fan and apart from one memorable season in 1999 and a decent last season in 2011, i seen us win about 8 wooden spoons and lose at home most weeks. The crowd levels hit rock bottom and i cannot count the amount of times the racing was great and it was a last heat decider. as I said before, home wins are absolutely essential to maintain a decent fan base and Exeter are proof of that. The experience of the venue and track was superb in being so close to the action and it being a big, fast daunting track but the racing was absolutely dire but they won at home every week and kept a great fanbase because of that.
  22. They are rock bottom and have won one match all season. If you call that competitive then good luck to you.
  23. Riders missing for pathetic reasons and going unpunished is a much bigger issue that needs fixing. Teams being allowed to sign riders knowing full well they will only ride in about 50-60 percent of fixtures (Klindt) is another and there are dozens of other rules and regs that need sorting. The guest facility has been around the whole near 30 years I have followed speedway, it sometimes works for teams other times not its the way it goes. Same as R/R. I kind of see your point, I am one of those that think in football that if a player has gone off genuinely injured they should be allowed to bring a sub on to replace him when they have already used all 5 of the allocated subs but that wont ever happen.
