  1. Completely agree with the start time being earlier (although I would have to drive a bit faster to get there in time!). Meeting duration on a school night is a good point too, need to be done and dusted by 9.15-9.30 IMO. Less laps of Buster in his tractor please! If the meetings finished earlier, maybe more people (without kids) would stick around afterwards for a beer rather than shooting off too. Get the riders to come in for a bit too? Make everyone feel like it's "one club" again.
  2. Need to think big picture, the U16's are going to spend money in the arena on food and drink etc which all adds up. They might even buy an airhorn to improve the atmosphere!? Also, they are most likely to be with a full paying adult who may have other wise been put off from going because the cost of taking the whole family. Decent night out for a parent taking their kid IMO, who knows they may even take one of their kids little mates too, and then one week the kids mates parent comes along as well...
  3. More important to find new fans, maintain the current fan base isn't enough to maintain the sport. Especially without a TV deal.
  4. Looking forward to the new season ahead now that Niels and Robert are back. Let's give the new promotion a chance before writing them off and questioning their pricing strategy which i think is OK - a £1 increase to cover the free entry to Under 16's. Need to attract a new crowd, hopefully this pricing strategy and the work they are doing with local schools will work. Robin knows more about the business side of things than most. People are entitled to an opinion sure, but if you don't want to go anymore then don't go!
  5. Yeah, because getting rid of our best riders worked out so well last season?!? After the shambles of last season, you cannot blame any rider for thinking twice about riding for Stars in 2018. I'll be honest, I have considered not going to watch them - last season was THAT bad. Let's hope that after a successful season in a well run and well supported team that Robert WANTS to sign up again for the Stars in 2019. That would be a result for all concerned.
  6. It read to me as if this was a young, ambitious sportsman, keen to be all that he could be in his career. Give the guy a break! Nothing out of order in that article at all. I found it refreshingly honest, clear and considered. Look forward to watching him entertain us again in 2018.
  7. Good point. Only Lynn fans could try and find a negative in the potential signing of the WORLD CHAMPION?!? The whole Holder debacle was regrettable, but we shouldn't let the actions of one rider (who was struggling for form) ruin any excitement about future big name signings.
  8. Is the Rye House meeting going to be arranged? If not, then Buster should put on an invitational meeting at the AFA before the end of the season. Need something to end the season on a positive leading into the long cold winter. Even if it's a mixed field, lets just have a well run meeting. £10 admission obviously.
  9. Firstly, thanks to BT Sport for covering Speedway in the UK - without them..... well it doesn't bear thinking about. It is noticeable how much less equipment BT bring for an outside broadcast compared to the millions of lorries and trucks Sky used to bring along. Maybe this is a cost cutting measure, maybe they are a little more efficient? What I do know is last night was one of the best run meetings at Lynn for a while. In the past, meetings which were on Sky seemed to take FOREVER. Last night was done and dusted by 9.15. Well done to all concerned.
  10. People make their own choices, and I'm not going to tell people what they should/shouldn't do. BUT with all the trouble from the last few weeks, if Stars fans don't show up for the rest of this season we might not have a team next year to support. The management have made their changes to the team, the riders are nailed on to give 100% effort, now it's down to us the supporters. Tonight is a big night in many ways.
  11. Stars need their supporters more than ever at the moment. I know it's on TV BUT if ever there was a time to go and cheer on your team in person it's tonight. I'll be there. C'MON THE STARS!
  12. Another twist and turn to the Stars season. Wonder who we're bringing in as a Number 1?
  13. I'm bored of negative, cynical comments when a team tries to do something to PROMOTE the sport. You get the sport you deserve, and some fans are only happy when they moan. The Stars are in a pretty bad place at the moment, and the fact they are trying to do something to attract crowds should be applauded - reduced admission for TV meetings is NOT something Stars have done in the past. I hope many fans will come along, and treat this as a bit of a clean slate. Something to move forward from..... The amount of times I've read something like 'speedway is a £10 a ticket sport' on here, and as soon a team tries to run a promotion people start looking for a sinister reason why they are doing it?! Maybe it's to get punters through the gate so it looks good/exciting/fun on TV, which you know, might encourage someone watching it on TV to actually go and watch a meeting live in the future? TV is the best form of promotion for the sport, get it out there to a wider audience and attract new fans.
  14. Meeting postponed according to Wolves Speedway tweet. Probably just as well.
  15. He started the year on a 7.36 average. His latest average is 7.94. He's not the problem at Lynn. It's a personality thing, some people don't like him. As long as over the course of season, he improves his average, isn't he doing his job? What do some fans want? Hound him out like they did to Bjerre only to see him come back and score heavily for another team?
  16. Not sure tonight will be as straightforward for the Stars as last night. I can't remember seeing KK drop a point at Lynn! He was one of the few No.1's to give Niels a race over the past few seasons.
  17. We should be grateful Robert chooses to ride for Lynn, no doubt he could make more £££ elsewhere. His entertaining riding is one of the few reasons many people like myself still go along on a Wednesday night. Give the kid a break blimey! No pun intended.
  18. Here Here! It's getting like the speedway equivalent of ArsenalFanTv on here sometimes.
  19. Don't think Dale can be blamed for 2 of our riders being injured elsewhere, one of our riders choosing to prioritize an international meeting, Robert Lambert having an off night nor both our Aussies making similar mistakes and throwing away wins. I personally don't think the role of team manager is that much of a big deal. Riders all race for themselves anyway. My big problem with how things are going this season is the entertainment level on offer. Last night cost me almost £50 all in with refreshments/fuel/programme etc and I left feeling mugged off. Our team isn't good enough to win every week, we know this, but at least get track ready to produce close racing then the result doesn't really matter.
  20. Wind will drop from 20mph to 13mph by 7pm. Rain not forecast until 11pm and then it's an 11% chance of 'light rain'. Only a 50% chance of light rain from 1am Thursday morning until 9am. It doesn't look 'good'. Oh well, shall we get back to banging on about the good old days and how Britain would be Great again if we reverted back to the 1960's?!?
  21. 60% chance of rain from noon until 10pm on Monday. Doubt this will go ahead and with Wolves without Fast Freddie I anticipate an early postponement. Shame as I fancy Stars to win this tie over 2 legs if Wolves were to be without FF.
  22. Here's hoping for a 15pt Max for Robert Lambert. AND a Hat-trick from Kasper Dolberg
  23. Well done Panthers promotion on getting this meeting sorted as part of the MCN Festival of Motorcycling this weekend at the Showground. A great opportunity for a wider audience to engage with Speedway on one of the best tracks in the country. 2 strong teams on show, let's hope for a cracking meeting! Looking forward to seeing Robert Lambert race around the Showground, he was phenomenal at Lynn last night.
