  1. Niels is riding for Lynn on Wednesday. Confirmed on twitter by Robin Brundle. C'MON THE STARS!!!!
  2. Well done to all concerned last night on getting both meetings through, a valuable 6 point night for the Stars...
  3. Both teams operating R/R for their No.1's on a Double Header... where can I sign up!?! I very much doubt they will run all 30 heats. Despite all the advertising saying '30 heats of action' etc. Maybe they should offer a £1 rebate for every heat under 30 they don't complete which can be used off the next meeting? This should be the exciting end of the season, the push for the playoffs etc, but the circumstances make it impossible not to feel 'meh'. Had we have had a full team out it would be different I guess. Hope it's a good meeting for those of you who are going, and all the riders perform well.
  4. If the Stars were sitting 4th in the table, 2 pts clear of Poole in 5th with a fixture against Poole to be re-arranged, why would Stars want to run the meeting and risk losing a play-off spot? This is just an example of what could (and let's face it knowing the level of self-interest which exists in our sport) and most probably will happen. It's a mockery.
  5. Choosing to not race in the Summer months (again) is coming back to bite the clubs (again). Until this changes, we'll always have that last minute rush to get meetings in. If you don't want to go, don't go! The promoters don't want to run double headers (but at this stage they have to), the riders don't want to race them (but they have to) and the supporters don't want them (but can choose not to go). Sensible approach for me would be for both clubs to agree beforehand to a reduced no. of heats per meeting (11 maybe?), and for the price to be capped at £20 for all punters. We're going to be there for an hour or two longer than usual so are going to buy more beers, snacks and coffee etc. And from a scoring perspective, the averages and results will still all be above board.
  6. What are you smoking?!?! Replace Niels after he has just won us 2 meetings and is obviously coming back into fitness and form (he did qualify for the SGP's again and win No. 7 recently)?!? That would be utter madness. Him and Robert are going to lead us all the way this season... Such a powerhouse top two!
  7. When it comes to the crunch, he delivers. Time and time again he's proved it. Remember the last corner swoop around the outside win the Danes the SWC in Poland? BOOM!
  8. Another enjoyable night at Lynn, it really got going towards the end! When you've got the best top 2 in the league coming in for big races at the end of a tight meeting you've always got to feel confident. Aces were very unlucky not to go home with a point which they deserved.
  9. Not being funny, but if I don't get free admission for last night's abandonment I will not be going to speedway again at Lynn this season.
  10. Very true, but that's how we end up with Brexit, and how the U.S.A. end up with Trump.
  11. Just as you start to get interested once again in the Stars, and get some momentum, this happens. Another meeting with almost half the riders missing. Can't be arsed with it anymore. I'll be happy when/if we win but gone are the days when I sit glued to updates/twitter awaiting heat by heat updates when we are riding away. I don't even care too much whether we win or lose at home either as long as it's entertaining. Poor management has done this to me, both at the club and in the wider sense of those that run the sport. The execution of the fixed race night policy just sums everything up for me. We select Danish riders who cannot ride on Wednesday's in the UK a lot of the time, and then we also have to ride on Thursday against teams when our riders are already doubling up with their Championship clubs.
  12. Just put an announcement out on the PA during the interval about the roadworks? Not hard is it?! Anyway, I got back from working in London just to get in before heat 1 and was pleasantly surprised to see how busy it was. The back car park was almost full. Why such a big crowd? Must have been the draw of the World Champion being in town and the prospect of our very own Robert Lambert beating him. It couldn't have been the crazy half term offer!?? "The King’s Lynn Tru Plant Stars £36 Family ticket gives you all a fun packed evening this Wednesday 30th May. A Family ticket gives you entry for 2 x adults and as many children U16 as you like for just £36. Parking is free." It's £18 to get in for adults and kids go in free anyhow? Looking forward to the next crazy value promotion - 1 coffee for £1.50 or a special offer of 3 for £.4.50?!? It made me laugh anyhow : )
  13. Sam Masters was awful last night, do guests get a flat fee or get paid by the point?
  14. Just because someone doesn't agree with you, it doesn't mean they are wrong?!?
  15. I thought the crowd was more than I expected, the back car park was pretty full when I got there at 7.15. And it was FREEZING! I think quite a few people left early as a result of the drubbing which ensued after the first round of heats and the cold conditions. My only gripe was the amount of time track grading. It was a bit ridiculous. Once again Buster had more track time than any rider did LOL. Grade after 5, grade after 10 (during interval) and get the meeting done by 9.15-9.30. I enjoyed the racing though, all our boys were giving it a go.
  16. Raving during the 30 minute track grading is the only way to keep occupied/warm LOL
  17. Nothing wrong with OAP's, if it wasn't for fans 'of a certain age' the terraces would be empty. As for the lad who got excluded for going across the centre green, well that was the most entertainment he provided all night!!! Very disappointed with his performance, thought he flew around Lynn?
  18. Reduced admission surely for this one? If not, it's a massive opportunity missed by the promotion to salvage some good will.
  19. Come on everyone, all together now... "WE ALL LOVE SPEEDWAY STARS IS OUR NAME....."
  20. Has it been confirmed that all the Danish lads are having to miss the meeting on Weds? If so, we need to know whether or not it's going to be an ongoing issue, and what meetings are affected. I'm prepared to give the promotion the benefit of the doubt for now, even after last years fiasco.
  21. Big night for King's Lynn tonight, IMO its more important for the evening to run smoothly than the result! Entertaining races, on a well prepared track, with 2 full teams of riders, and races run promptly will get crowds coming back even if Stars lose...
