  1. It comes to something when Belle Vue fans are lecturing other teams about their fans bad behaviour . Might be an idea to put your own house in order first before pontificating over the rest of us
  2. Well done everyone on BT sport tonight for some oscar winning performances . Trying to make us believe we have been watching a team who were genuily trying to get promoted. Sheffield have had 15 years to move up to the top division and have declined every time although this year was different and they actually wanted to move up ,yeah right Sheffield Unbeaten at home all year and going through the tapes like rabbits in the headlights , very convenient, an absolute walloping. But well done to Natalie, Nigel and Kelvin for keeping it going when we were watching nothing more than a pantomime, roll on the 2nd leg next week. Only problem for Sheffield is finding a new race night for next year. Tonight was a further embarrassment to the sport Very Much So
  3. It will be interesting to see how BT treat this meeting tonight. I suspect that they will try to pull fans into the drama of a season defying promotion / relegation decider although we all know this meaning is a complete farce. I suppose Pearson will tow the party line although some honesty wouldn't go a miss explaining that even if Sheffield win they may still not get promoted if they don't fancy it which would mean Leicester would stay up if they chose to even if they lost and lastly Lakeside will probably move up to the top division even though they are currently in the 3rd tier and not involved in any promotion / relegation tie, clear as mud but will probably be bypassed by BT and Pearson to save the sport looking a farce. No matter what problems exist in British speedway BT sport does not seem a vehicle to mention them
  4. It will always be the organisers random picks to suit the quota system , which insures there are riders from all the major speedway nations , GB, Poland, Sweden and Denmark in the series regardless of whether they are the best 15 riders in the world or not
  5. Big blow for Wolves losing Thorsell, showed his class at Belle Vue in the Premiership riders final. Less than 12 from Lindgren and I thonk Belle Vue will take the win on aggregate .Despately need Mark Riss and Greaves to contribute at reserve and avoid those last places.
  6. Must admit I always want to go to Germany for the GP but Teterow is a country mile from anywhere if you're travelling Independently. Driving abroad is not part of my remit for a GP weekend but it seems for this GP driving or Travel Plus is the only option. Surely there must be a better option, can the speedway cub in Berlin not be upgraded with temporary seating for a GP. Feel many more fans from outside Germany would travel if the venue was more accessible.
  7. Like yourself have been lucky enough to see both one off World Finals and GP series. As good as the GP series is it rarely matches the one off final for pure tension .It's easy in the GP series to write off a bad night , in the old World Championship a bad night meant elimination and the end of your challenge ,every meeting mattered ,hear some riders now get 10 points in a night and claim they are happy with the nights work, 10 points in a World Final used to leave you bitterly disappointed at a near miss. People on here seem to think there was no good racing in the one off final, I've just watched the highlights of the 1973 final from Chorzow on youtube, absolutely fantastic racing , my only regret in speedway not been born in the right era to go to Katowice in 73 or 76, jealous of all those Brits who went in that era. Just imagine if the round at Torun this year was a one off, all on the night ,winner takes all final, mouth-watering !
  8. Must admit I'm in the losing interest category . I've watched as many meetings in Poland this year (4) as I have at Monmore Green. Weak visiting teams, rider replacement, guests, double headers ,having to share Mondays with Cradley, lack of decent racing, no atmosphere , 18 quid to get in, something had to give. Been going to Wolves every week for 30 years, had a shift change at work requiring me to have more time off to watch speedway and just couldn't justify it, never thought that I would say that I would stop going but this year has been the year.
  9. Didn't seem like Kelvin Tatum was against ditching the double points rule after his comments tonight. " adds spice to the meeting"
  10. That's a bit rich. Why is nobody on here or on BT sport prepared to say what we all know , that the wildcards are picked mostly on a quota basis, always have been always will be. Look at the statistics , since the series went to a 15 man permanent series there have always been 2 Danes and 2 Swedes. Why should this be any different next year.? For all the romantics out there who are picking Hancock, Holder, Iversen and Zagar , Ill bet it will be 2 Danes plus Lindback plus an other probably Hancock. Why seed Zagar when he can serve his purpose to BSI by being slotted in as wildcard in his home GP, similarly Milik, what riders bring to the series financially in viewers and ticket sales has long outweighed the actual ability of riders. I feel the romantics will be disappointed again this year, similarly those same romantics on the SGP venues 2018 thread suggesting Amsterdam Arena, try Vojens instead .
  11. Every year at the conference the collective BSPA have the power to do away with averages but every year they vote to retain them
  12. What will Doyle do when his Polish team decide they want to rearrange one of their fixtures as they have done this season on any day of the week they choose except Tuesdays.as not to upset the Polish riders who ride in Sweden. My guess is he will toddle off back Poland when called making the set race nights he called for look ridiculous. Lets not shy away from it ,Poland will do as they like. set race nights or not and so will the top riders
  13. If they are lucky enough to win promotion this season that is
  14. Think we will need another Swede as a wildcard to add to the 2 Danes . Have a feeling young Pawlicki will take 8th spot in the series to leave us needing 2 Danes and 1 Swede to for fill the usual quota system . Could be bad news for Holder if Hancock wants a wildcard. Imagine 5 Poles in the series proper plus 1 wildcard making 6 for the Polish rounds
  15. Good of Pearson to mention the race for the Championship between the 2 Scottish clubs, Sheffield and Ipswich but no mention of the word promotion . What's going on, is promotion / relegation on or are we just not going to mention it again on TV and hope the viewers forget it ever existed ?
  16. Which clown sanctioned that, an experiment of new shale before the biggest meeting of the year at Gorzow. Felt pretty sure, as is the norm that the locals would cop the blame for a duff GP
  17. Well after the rigours of the GP challenge we still have 2 Dane's to find for wild card picks. Think they will go for the safe option of Pedersen and Iversen should Nicki wish to continue. Hancock and Holder for the other 2 should they not make the top 8
  18. Well done Craig Cook. Terrific performance away from home in a World Class field and with a first ride zero. Hopefully Craig can now attract some more British sponsors to give him a package equipped for the competition of the GP series
  19. Against a team with the currently the 2 weakest reserves in the league and r/r for one of their top 5. Looking good
  20. The meeting could have easily been run through swiftly last night . Even when it was raining it was only very light, Dodgy forecasts put people off, promoters cannot afford that on the crowds that currently attend
  21. Think we all need to wait for the results of the challenge this weekend, this will have a big say on the wildcards.
  22. The problem he had was that there was no obvious candidate for the black and white in the next 2 heats. It was worth a gamble with the best gates, even a 4-4 wouldn't have been the end of the world. You could see in the interviews later that he knew he had made an error. The tactical ride window is shorter than ever you have to use it preferably when you are only 10 behind if your ambition is to win the meeting. I could understand him waiting if he was only targeting a point which is of little use to Leicester
  23. Well its 9.15 and two miles away from the track the rain expected did not arrive. Just a bit of light rain , nothing to threaten the meeting. This would not have happened at Wolverhampton years ago but unfortunately Wolves are in the same boat as most clubs in British speedway suffering from low crowds and the margins are that tight that if a hundred people decide its an iffy forecast and decide to stay on the sofa then it bites the club in the pocket big time and clubs in Britain just can't or won't take the risk to run a meeting if there is any potential rain around. Run swiftly tonight's meeting could have been run through easily.
  24. I think you mean pick the Dane's . Denmark like Sweden has always been afforded 2 permanent riders in the GP field since it was revamped to a 15 rider format plus 1 wildcard Do the Dane's warrant 2 picks ?
  25. Not sure why the riders are chasing the dirt wide , the grip and the passing is happening up the inside
