Future Of The Gp Series?
New Science replied to CookieIpswich's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
And both personal friends. People have to respect that their style is not liked by everyone in speedway and they are entitled to that opinion -
Ask all those who have to stop at Newport,Bridgend,Caerphilly because they can't get a room in Cardiff if they would like to stay 5 minutes from the stadium and the answer would be yes The point I was making was the price, you can stay in Manchester a lot cheaper than Cardiff. Agree Cardiff is a better location overall with everything centrally located

Can't see why people are running Robert Lambert down. He has made rapid progress in a short space of time. Saturday was a big occasion for a young kid. Lets give the guy some credit and give him time to develop his potential to the full without comparing him with others who have gone before -
Manchester and Cardiff are chalk and cheese.Managed to stop 5 minutes walk from the stadium in Manchester for £65 a night. Impossible to do that in Cardiff. You can get a Travelodge in Cardiff most weekends for £35 ,your looking at £125 on GP weekend. No other city maybe Edinburgh inflates their prices for event weekends like Cardiff

Wolves V Coventry 01/08

4.15 just started raining. Probably the right decision considering all the forecasts say pretty much the same. Hope we have enough dates to get these fixtures in without having to stage another dreaded double header. -
Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?

Maybe you could bankroll Team GB in World cup week similar to the businessman from Newcastle who did the same for the Aussies -

Just back after a good weekend in Manchester. A few observations. Impressed with the stadium, sat in the main grandstand, great viewing and the stand holds the noise in,reminiscent of sitting in the stand at Bradford many moons ago.Not quite in agreement with the conditions of entry that you can't take in an soft drink, flask of tea but you can take in a bell,I'm ok but burgers and pies aren't everyone's staple diet. The programme, only bought one because I couldn't get a race card, anorexic for a tenner, Racing at the race off was poor, couldn't see the reason why as early morning rain is usually ideal for the track surface.Team USA whats the point ? Personally if I was in charge of the DMU I would replace Hans Nielsen. As good a rider as Nielsen was he was decisive,he admitted in the Star in his time he didn't get on previously with Ole and Erik ie half of his national side. By dropping Nicki he tried to make the World Cup all about himself.Did anybody believe this time last night that Denmark would not make the final with a round on home shale with another chance in the race off. When you leave out 2 GP riders and it doesn't work you have serious questions to answer. On to the final, one of the best meetings Ive ever seen in GB. Track was absolutely superb ,racing brilliant, great atmosphere and a terrific rearguard effort from Team GB.Well done to Rosco and Tai for the way they lead the team, not sure whats with the suit on track walk with every member in every other team in official teamwear,it is a team event after all.Thought the Aussies made a big mistake not playing the joker in the second block of races, cost them big style. On the whole well done to everyone at Belle Vue,and to BSI,just seed the hosts to the semis in future so we can have an even better World Cup. -
Should Greg Hancock Ride For Usa?
New Science replied to John Leslie's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Hancock's decision to miss a rare British appearance to give youngsters a chance was exactly the same as Tai Woffiden's decision to miss the British Final to er give the youngsters a chance. I'm not sure the top stars realise, that with these guys understandably not riding league speedway in Britain that there is a real appetite of British fans to see these top stars ride occasionally on our shores, what other nation could get 8,000 for a race off. We are one of the major speedway nations, we cherish the opportunity to watch the top stars live particularly the current British World champion, maybe they should remember that,Britain has given most of the top stars in speedway some help in their development, don't forget about the British fans now you are in the G.P.. particularly the British World champion. Sorry rant over -

The sooner the hosts are seeded to the race off rather than the final the better denying a team getting to the race off on the back of one riders points -
Just seen Tai's new tattoo on facebook. Heard his reason for having it but to the outside world it will look like a prison tattoo
-
No the team won't spend much time together pre Final's night, along with extensive practise ,team bonding isn't seen as an issue to improve performance. Lets be honest if Team GB finish 4th its where most think they will finish, its questionable if they would have qualified if not been seeded. Anything better than last will be seen as a great success.

Sure the idea might not be totally original but it has not happened at the World Cup to date. Personally I think its better than the current format and would further improve the World Cup. -

Which year and which home nation were seeded to the race off ? My first recollection of seeding was the Czech Republic straight to the final in 2013 -

Sorry Phil when I posted they were winning comfortably but not confirmed so forgot about them. Cracking idea the new World cup format thou ! It would bring even more intensity to the World Cup. While I'm at it surely Phil the joker rule has to be tweaked / scrapped. There must be a better way. Its embarrassing for the sport to see some of the manipulation tonight. Surely the brains at BSI can come up with something else. Usually they are forward thinking when it comes to scoring systems and correct what doesn't work or isn't fair. Why are they blind to the six behind joker rule ? Everyone's allowed one mistake. My medication is wearing off -

Exclude one of them at least. Take your pick -
Just saw Roscoe's statement on Speedway GB . Its fair enough. He doesn't see practise as that important citing the Pole's obsession for practise and how many World Champions have they had ? Quite true but this is the World Cup not the GP and there obsessive practise has contributed to 10 medals in 15 World Cups including 6 Gold's. Just seems like a potential advantage of extended practise handed exclusivly to Team GB on a track that nobody is truly familiar has been passed up for whatever reason. Only my opinion but given our previous record in The World Cup we need every advantage we can get

Pearson got it wrong and right there. 1 It does NOT add to the drama it makes the sport look a joke. 2 The referee should have excluded the Swede for not racing. Once one gets excluded it will stamp it out -
2016 Swc Semi's And Final 29/30/july 2016
New Science replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
As much as I like World Cup week if the finals are to be rotated around Poland, Denmark, Sweden and Great Britain as proposed would it not make more sense to seed the host nation to the race off. The 2 winners of Event 1 and 2 go straight to the final. The 2 second placed teams go to the race off with the best third placed team joining the host nation. The top 2 from the race off then join the 2 winners in the Grand Final. This would guarantee a healthy race off crowd with high probability that the home team would reach the final. Win Win as I see it. Not knocking the USA but should just 1 riders contribution be good enough to get you to the race off. Watching Hancock tonight score seven eighths of the USA's points they have not got a cat in hell's chance of going to the final. Imagine the race off at Manchester Team GB vs Denmark vs Australia vs Russia with the top 2 going to the final to meet Poland and Australia. Mouthwatering Any Thoughts -
I totally get what you're saying, I do. What I don't get is when Tai does make mistakes like the interview in Cardiff you justify it . Why not just say "he shouldn't have done that he was out of order" rather than "its what young people do get over it"

One of Woffinden's beefs with the BSPA was that they were not doing enough to support the riders. A pre season training camp as per Poland and Denmark have was arranged ,hardly anyone turned up. Now an additional behind closed doors practise session for GB riders ahead of the World Cup final is arranged and some riders can't be bothered. Remember we are not in the race off,we don't get a full meeting to practise, surely all the team practising together before official practise can only be of benefit in set up and team spirit. Maybe were that good we don't need it. -
Never had a tattoo but surely it might still be a bit sore come the weekend
-
And the usual " Tai Woffinden is a saint and can do as he want because he is the champ" brigade quickly jump aggressively on this thread as soon as any hint of criticism for the World Champ surfaces. (All 5 of you) Let me invite you to another topic on this forum "good letter in the star" where Mr Woffinden cops a bit of stick for his language at Cardiff. You seem to have missed it while enjoying lambasting Robert72 on the other Tai Woffinden threads. Enjoy

Our teams that good we don't need practise
