2017 Grand Prix Venues
New Science replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Would have thought having over 40,000 bike fans stopping in the Melbourne area would be an advantage to the GP in terms of sales. Provisional date for next year at Phillip Island is 22nd October. -
There are also plenty of people who used to go to speedway who fully know it exists but choose not to go. The first task must be to get them back
-
The Australian Open tennis and F1 GP are also well attended in Melbourne and over 92,000 to see Liverpool play a pre season friendly.

Thought last nights action was a bit drab to be honest. Our group commented how good this meeting used to be , but now its a bit predictable. In years gone by the weakest riders in the field would score next to, or no points. Now half of the field are within 2 points because of the lack of passing and even National league riders are winning races against Elite League rides when they have a handicap advantage. Adam Skornicki looked awful in his first ride but still won 2 races from the gate similarly Musielek .Only a couple of half decent races with 2 outside passes all night. On a positive good to see Peter Karlsson interviewed and winning his last race in Wolves colours -

It could be bad luck for Matej as Phil Rising has said, BSI are quite happy to have him just as wildcard in Slovenia. Something wrong when it comes down to your nationality and not your ability. Why we are at it why is Denmark considered a big key nation demanding 3 permanent riders. Interest in speedway has gone from holding 2 GP's , 1 being at the national stadium, to 1 GP in a Championship style football ground in front of 12,500,hardly a hotbed . -
Belle Vue Vs Wolves, Grand Final 2nd Leg, 5/10/16...
New Science replied to Col's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sorry its a bit late but a few impressions of Wednesday night. Firstly well done Belle Vue,had trouble buying a ticket on line but one phone call all sorted by their obliging staff. After a nightmare journey from the midlands , plenty of parking, and smooth quick ticket collection and onto back straight terrace. Was able to buy a beer without all the tops off bottle rubbish. Walked on to the terrace in my Wolves shirt only to get a few boo's from a family behind me. The meeting and track were first class and if Belle Vue had acquitted themselves a bit better in the first leg I have no doubt they would have won. What did surprise me was the hostility of the home fans who seemed more interested in booing the away riders on there way to the tapes. While I have sympathy for Belle Vue topping the league, we are all aware of the play off system. Not only this but the guy in the box kept repeating himself saying Belle Vue were best team all year "we didn't do what Poole did " "we didn't have to bring the World Champion in " etc . My sympathy for Belle Vue's predicament was starting to wear off the longer the stadium announcer went on. But overall a good night with top racing. And lastly thanks to Sky sports for making us wait 20 minutes between heats 14 and 15 to fit their TV schedules . CHEERS, we do have homes to got to . -

Dear Elite League, Please set your league up it to suit me. and some of my fellow GP mercenries alone Maximum of 14 meetings a year only. Any more is burnout Single race night as long as its not Tuesday , Friday, Saturday or Sunday , I'm doing other stuff Oodles of cash, make it worth my while. If not then stuff the Elite league, stuff the World Cup and stuff your training schools. Yours sincerely Tai Woffinden. PS if my Polish and Swedish clubs might happen to miss the play offs then forget the above and I'm available in September -
