Gating is very important at Monmore these days.

If the BSPA were really serious about pure Promotion / Relegation then surely the bottom team from Premiership would be relegated and the top team from the Championship would be promoted . No need for playoffs or the potential throwing of playoffs

Belle Vue National Stadium
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
You forget to add that they oversaw the first year in operation of this project absorbing all admission money, sponsorship money and supporters buy a brick money but chose to not pay a penny in contractual rent and leave many of there own riders owed money. Why credit may be due for " a vision " the economics which some pointed out at the time were absolute folly and came home to roost big time , so maybe all the backslapping is a little misplaced -

The problem with the Editorial at the Speedway Star is they are a little too close to their subjects. We had this with the Warsaw GP 2 years ago. Everybody blames everybody else and the Star pretty much goes along with it. Similarly with the fiasco in Manchester, everybody blames everybody else and the Star doesn't really nail its colours to the post. Yes Manchester council may have been negligent in their preparation of the track but the promoters were aware of this when they tried to run the opening meeting which was wrong, just print it how it is. Unfortunately the close relationship Speedway Star enjoys with the F.I.M , B.S.I and some promoters in British speedway gives these parties a ' get out of jail card ' in print when the flak starts flying and people are looking for answers. -

Belle Vue National Stadium
New Science replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
When this facility was built it was on the understanding that the costs of the speedway stadium would be paid back, it was not built on the understanding that the council would simply now own a speedway stadium. The other facilities involved are for the use of the general public, not the case with the speedway track. The only way I can see round it is the council to offer a short term lease to be reviewed upon expiry . Cant see anyone wishing to get involved in a long term commitment or the council letting the stadium on more favourable terms than the last tenants. -
It looks a bit ridiculous to have reserves on a 2 point average and Number 1 on a 13.41 average such is the case at Swindon

Surely no new tenant is going to sign up to a lease at 4 grand a week for 25 years ? If not the council is going to have to write off most of the 8 million it spent to provide a limited company with a speedway stadium in Manchester.. Great for Belle Vue speedway , not great for the taxpayers of Manchester -
This is precisely why speedway in this country is stuffed. You have arguably the best track in World speedway but fans wont turn out in numbers unless your winning. Never figured this out, no team can be successful every year, that's one of the successes of the points system but fans only want to watch a winning team. 2008 at Wolves was one of the best seasons ever for racing at Monmore, 8 last heat deciders if I remember, the racing was ten times better than this season when we won the league.Give me great racing every week over watching successful teams with no passing. Maybe its me !

You paid £50 for a 10 pence brick which probably cost 5 quid to engrave and mount. The promoters pocketed the other 45 quid -

If the Belle Vue promoters were not paying any rent and owe the riders a significant amount of money then what exactly were they doing with the money paid by supporters , sponsors and many who forked out 50 quid to buy a brick in the stadium. -

So much uncertainty about Belle Vue that they have been awarded the Elite League Riders Championship in October. -
ALL this would give is teams building top heavy. Why should a team manager have the option of putting his 2 star riders in heats 13, 14 and 15 if trailing by 10 points. Ive seen it done many times 3 five ones in a row to win the match by 2 "ITS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY" just as unfair as double points in my opinion .I'm all for tac subs replacing double points but mot in the form it was.

The iconic Belle Vue Aces bankrupt, without a promoter and the future of the National Speedway stadium up in the air and its described as " Small Fry " by a leading speedway journalist. Seem to remember even after the opening night shambles you were the loudest defender of everything the promotion did. -

Took no pleasure at the time in laying out how absurd the business plan for this stadium was only to be shot down by the Belle Vue mafia and negated by Phil Rising saying his friends Gordon and Morton were backed by a consortium of business titans. If it is the case that no rent has been paid on this stadium since its inception then where has all the money gone? surely there are questions to answer, simply insolvency and retirement by the CEO isn't just sufficient ! -

I think BSI should take the GP to Mexico. 130,000 fans have turned up today ( 300,000 over the weekend ) to watch nothing more than a procession in the formula 1. If they will watch that rubbish they will watch anything -
Sad loss, great commentator , love listening to his commentaries of World Finals in the 70's

Greg's altercation with Nicki was on a par with Craig Boyce thumping Tomasz Gollob, . At the time most thought Gollob like Nicki got what was coming to him

Unfortunately this GP venue is showing the traits of many others before it on temporary tracks in big stadiums. Encouraging to start with attendance wise which gradually diminishes year on year eventually becoming extinct, read Parken and Stockholm. As Phil Rising says speedway is a minority sport with the only 2 serious markets being in Poland and Great Britain. There are numerous reasons why Cardiff and Warsaw shouldn't work but they do due the loyalty and enthusiasm of the fans in both countries
