National Speedway Stadium Opening Tickets Now On Sale
oldace replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
So where would you suggest a good place to build the new Belle Vue Speedway stadium. With Manchester City Council putting in a lot of funding can't see the wanting it in London and most Aces fans would never get there on a Friday anyway. FFS the NSS is just a name, and a pretty apt one at that as it will be the best appointed, purpose built speedway facility in the country. It is primarily the new "Home of the Aces" -

Both Peterborough and Kings Lynn are north of Birmingham so why include them in the south. By your reckoning there are a 20 or so tracks in the north if you include ones that are not in the north -

That is a dreadful website. It looks like a schoolkids first effort into web design

That is a lesson in how to lose any credibility you had and destroy the respect anyone may have had for you. I am sure a few of those you have just seen fit to insult will be (probably now ex) customers of retro speedway

You cant have the bike parked in a very deep rut, it will bottom out on the exhaust so the rider either has to start from a different part of the track or move to the back of the rut -

Lots of permutations yet 1 Poole 25 10 1 1 4 2 0 4 3 1224 1018 57 2 Coventry 24 8 0 3 4 2 2 2 3 1084 1023 52 3 Swindon 24 11 0 2 4 0 0 2 5 1114 1056 51 4 Belle Vue 27 12 1 1 1 1 1 3 7 1268 1187 49 5 King's Lynn 26 12 0 1 2 1 0 1 9 1195 1162 48 6 Wolverhampton 26 8 0 4 0 1 0 1 12 1088 1282 28 7 Lakeside 27 7 1 6 1 0 0 1 11 1169 1256 27 8 Leicester 25 7 0 6 0 1 0 1 10 1052 1210 25 But if you win your last 2 matches you are in regardless what the Aces do at Wolves, but if you lose tonight yo need to make sure you get the Swindon home match in and even then if the Aces draw at Wolves you would lose on race points anyway Before the cut off Swindon have Cov home and away and an away trip to poole, they need 3 points from those to be certain -
He won't even know what it is. It will just be (yet another) ill informed, zero researched rant.

To be honest I think the Aces will make the play offs now. Certainly dont see Kings Lynn winning at Poole. Even if the beat Swindon at home it only gives them 51 so a draw for the Aces at Wolves would see them through on race points and they should win there anyway. -
I had the same problem over here. I checked the post Saturday morning and there was no letter from Eurosport telling me the GP was on that evening I checked my e mails every hour but again nothing, I waited in all day in case Eurosport or BSI sent someone round personally to tell me it was on but nothing. In the end I had to do like you and look through the channel guide to find out the time and place it was on, totally unprofessional if you ask me

Correct. While modern bikes may have double the rpm the actual speeds are only about 5 to 8 per cent faster than the seventies. More broken bones is down to using nylon race suits and armour rather than padded leathers
-
It certainly was and yes it was following a tangle with Kenny Carter. Ironically, although nothing to do with the crash, Kenny was Chris Primes team mate in the ill fated race that took Chris' life. If I recall it was Kenny's first ever league race
-
Yes indeed he did after a few poor matches for Sheffield
-
They used to park tractors on the centre green. The death of Stuart Shirley at Ellesmere Port was because he collided with the tractor.
-
There is not one rider from the pre 4 valve days that would say the bikes are more difficult to ride now, the near double rpm makes them much easier to ride. If you are going to make stuff up, make it believable

I remember Shawn breaking his leg in 1983 but I cant say I recall him copping another bad one tbh

Aces Last Stand - Monmore Green 31/8

You know perfectly well they will. You never questioned it when the Aces had double headers. Correct, usually is the case with a double header -
Racing motorbikes has always been difficult and dangerous. Peter Craven was a top rider but died in a track accident. Tommy Jansson was a top rider but also perished. Per Jonsson was no mug but a track accident left him in a wheelchair. Whatever any of us think, the fact is that statistically speedway racing is far safer now than 30 years ago. The removal of lamp standards and better helmet technology has seen to that
-
Seriously injured!!!!. Those riders all died in track crashes in a 23 year period on British tracks. Along with dozens of others in the rest of the world. In that same period Graham Miles, Alan Wilkinson, Joe Owen, Steve Weatherley, among others all received injuries leaving the confined to wheelchairs.
-
Lets take the period early seventies to early 90s 1972 Alan Clegg Hackney 1975 Gary Peterson Wolverhampton 1975 Tony O’Donnell Coventry 1977 Stephen Defew Peterborough 1977 Kevin Holden Poole 1977 Stuart Shirley Ellesmere Port 1979 Vic Harding Hackney 1981 Tony Sanford Exeter 1982 Denny Pyeatt Hackney 1982 Brett Alderton King’s Lynn 1983 Mick Spiers Long Eaton 1983 Mike Walsh Glasgow 1984 Neal Watson King’s Lynn 1984 Leif Wahlmann King’s Lynn 1987 Ian Hunter Iwade 1989 Paul Muchene Hackney 1992 Wayne Garratt Newcastle 1994 Karl Nicholls Iwade Thats just on British Tracks. Tommy Jansson, Zdenek Kudrna, Graham Banks and many others all perished elsewhere. At a guess there were another 30 to 40 track fatalities around the world in the same period. The sport, although mighty dangerous, is now safer than at any time in the past
