What are you on about, you simply pick up a phone, dial the number and cancel. If you are genuine simply resist the cut price deals they offer you. -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

In the 20s cinemas were packed for silent movies but it is unlikely they would pack the punters in today. -
British Tv Rights For Sgp & Swc ?

This is disgusting, still no statement from BSI or Eurosport. I am going to e mail SKY and cancel my subscription if I don't hear anything today. In fact I am going to get my MP involved in this farce. -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

Of course he is, as do all the anti play off posts. Aside from Cov or Poole matches, every match from June would have been meaningless and had a crowd accordingly. The Wolves v Belle Vue double header would have had zero travelling fans and hardly any home fans but thanks to the play offs would have been a financial success. The play off system is in place for one reason, and one reason alone. It increases crowds, and therefore revenue, both for the domestic league system and the massive windfall it creates for the finalists. -
Sweden have staged a big city GP every year for the last 8 years, and others before that, PARKEN staged over 10 consecutive GPs. Cardfiff has staged 15 in a row. The big city events in the speedway nations seem to do OK. Events outside those countries seem to struggle for a foothold maybe
-
It is all so reminiscent of the old BDO darts fans. They used to sit among 200 or 300 other old dears at their events telling the world that the 10,000 crowds at the Premier League or the Ally Pally is not what darts fans want
-
And why do you think they put GPs on at these venues. It isn't because BSI have a whole load of money they want to waste by staging GPs in near deserted stadia. Big city, big venues are exactly what the public want as demonstrated by them flocking to them
-
But to be fair, Chris would be simply toeing the party line. As much as I agree with his sentiments you would.t expect him to say anything else, particularly as a disastrous Melbourne could even see him needing a wildcard!!!!

National Speedway Stadium Opening Tickets Now On Sale

The Kings Lynn staged wotld cup events are always promoted by BSI. Almost certainly any event at Belle Vue would be too. In essence BSI will simply rent the stadium. A nice rental fee, profit from bar and food takings and an amount of money coming to local business from out of the area fans -

Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

Nothing to do with being fickle. Fans want meaningful matches that mean something to the club and the riders. The current set up provides that in abundance, right from mid season league matches that are now worth winning right through to the packed houses the Grand Finals bring. To be honest though, no disrespect to Ian or Sidney etc, presented properly speedway would hold no interest for them. If you go back to the days of BDO darts and a world final played out in front of a few hundred pensioners doing their knitting and zero else for the rest of the year. When Barry Hearn started the PDC he wasn't aiming to tailor the product for the sports existing thermos and a blanket brigade, he knew they would be horrified at what he wanted to do with the sport, he was looking for a brand new audience, one who would have no interest in darts as it was but would embrace with a passion what he wanted to do. There are still a few of those old folk bemoaning the way the sport has gone and how it was all better in the old days, just like on here with every little change brought in to bring speedway into the 21st century -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

Because people don't want to pay £20.00 for meaningless challenge matches anymore. A fancy name doesn't fool anyone It is why, without play offs, half of the Elite League matches would fall into the same category and be played out in deserted stadiums. -

If only someone had thought of that 15 years ago. That would pack the fans in. Premier League could do the same using another famous name, The Young Shield perhaps, in honour of Jack Young. Clearly no one in the BSPA has your vision on how to fill the terraces -

Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

It would be nice if they were speedway viewing figures but he was referring to Football Elite league has always attracted round about 60,000 to 80,000, less for some matches and more for play offs. GPs on SKY used to be 100,000 plus but did tail off towards the end of SKY involvement. To be honest though it isn't all about actual numbers, the demographic classifications of those watching is important to broadcasters and speedway doesn't have many in the A, B, C1 categories -
Play Offs Should They Be Scrapped.?

Unlike speedway promotions, SKY fully understand the value of keeping existing customers. It is far far cheaper to keep a customer than get a new one (advertising/cheap introductory offers etc) It is why when you phone to cancel you will invariably be offered a reduced deal. Coupled with the fact they need subscriber numbers to keep ad value high. Virtually year on year SKY have increased subscribers and profit margins but in Sidney's world that is a failing business model. I am striving to a failing business like SKY -
