  1. The GPs that customers don't seem to want to attend in big enough numbers are quickly jettisoned but in the main the business model seems to work OK
  2. You do seem to have all the intelligence of a slightly backward 10 year old. Interestingly, to use your logic, league speedway once had upwards of 250,000 converted, thing is they went running the other way. Reality is give your customers what they want at a value that is commensurate and they will, and as is shown by Cardiff, do come running
  3. What sounds positive ? The stadium, which up to yesterday, we were guaranteeing being ready for next season, will not now be ready after all. As it drags on then it will not be ready at all for next season before finally the hurdles were too big of a problem and the whole thing is scrapped, of course the Abbey will succumb to the usual mysterious fire in the meantime and have to be demolished and the council agree to houses all over the site
  4. Of course it will. Thing is though it isn't a turn of events that will ensure no stadium is built, it is the intention right from the off
  5. Not for £340.00 though. There is a separate season ticket to cover NL. The combined one is £398.00 http://www.bellevueaces.co/2016admissionpricing.pdf
  6. And how fortunate, with regard to getting a crowd for the "end of an era" meeting that the article came out the day after everyone had handed over their money to see the last ever meeting at the Abbey, well the last ever one before next year it seems
  7. Lucky for Terry Russell that little snippet came out the day after the so called farewell, how many would turn up for a farewell that probably isn't. Not only that, chances are he can run another one next season now and pick the pockets of the mugs once more. Such chance timing of that article
  8. Not sure they can maintain 8 teams let alone add to it. Lakeside will race at Kent so not really an extra team. Swindon look dead in the water, certainly for next year at least and only an eternal optimist/fantasist would see that stadium ever being built. Coventry have only one season left at Brandon and still no sign of any new venue. The whole sport is on very shaky ground right now
  9. That smell was simply burned Castrol R40 oil. As no one uses castor oils anymore and the total loss systems are obsolete then I am afraid you will never get that smell again.
  10. Exactly that, like I said at the time advantage was taken of Phil Morris' lack of experience. He needed to simply ignore the complaints and get the 2 mins on. The longer he allowed the drlay the tougher it became to get them out again. I expect he learned a lot from that though and I am sure if the exact same set of circumstances happened again he would endure the meeting carried on
  11. Go on then Ian, tell us BSI role in, lets say Warsaw, as against their role in Cardiff
  12. There were plenty of people in Sydney on the day virtually accosted to attend
  13. These were not the type of freebies that blight the elite league, these freebies were literally dragged in off the street to make a semblence of a crowd
  14. Top 8 pretty much sorted before melbourne, outside chance Kildemand could overtake Holder and it wont matter anyway because either will get a wildcard. Martin Vaculik will get one, Lindback and Jonsson the other two. 3 Poles already in will have done Hampels chances no good, only the red bull factor could help him and if so probably at the expense of AJ
  15. Indeed, and even if the worst case scenario happened like it did, the way to deal with it is covered in the rules and it should be no big deal, no starting tapes and green light starts come into effect. The failure of the tapes shouldn't have caused an abandonment. The track was in pretty good condition so it simply comes back to the riders. Any enquiry should focus on how to punish thise riders and put in place a level of punishment for the future should a bunch of prima donnas try and sabotage the series ever again in the future
  16. So why then do you think the KO cup fell by the wayside. Was it maybe because crowds were so huge there were major concerns for their safety. Could it have been there was so much cash coming through the turnstiles that they couldn't fit it in the car boot. Or could there be another reason.
  17. I suspect crowds to watch the Aces will be more of a priority than the odd GP challenge though
  18. One mans parasite is another mans multi millionaire successful business man i suppose!!!!!
  19. Not really, most Polush GPs are home promoted and they seem to keep coming back for more, Vojens staged a few as home promoters among others. It is up to that promoter to make the event work and clearly some do. I think next years, as the first one at the new stadium will easily attract 15,000, as long as the seeding for the hosts stays in place
  20. In the past some SWC events have been run by a local promoter but the UK qualifier at Kings Lynn has always been a BSI event. As a general rule, if an event is a sure fire money spinner BSI will promote it, if there is the possibility of a massive loss they prefer a local promoter to take that risk!!!!!
  21. There is no highest bidder aspect to the SWC. These events are BSI promoted and they simply rent the venue. They will opt for a 15,000 venue over Kings Lynn just for ticket revenue. And don't worry, it won't be a SWC qualifying event in Manchester next year anyway, I would be amazed if Manchester isn't hosting the race off and final
  22. The crowd was indeed 32,000 but, as Humphrey alluded to, lots of those were near giveaways near, and on, the day. That said they were already looking at 50,000 plus to break even so I think Lander rather got his fingers burned on that one
  23. In 2002 they had Crump, Adams, Sullivan and Wiltshire, all in their prime, and in a city with a speedway heritage and a superb venue but the attendance was dire. The fact that Rickardsson was champion the round before wouldn't have helped, a situation that has been repeated this year
  24. They are going to give it until September and if no international meetings have been held then the stadium has to be demolished and returned to farmland as before
