  1. Yes I agree Sidney, Hans had luck on his side that day. As Rob says Tommy was starting to come back in as Hans was going out but for me I would have judged it 60/40 and put out Nielsen out.
  2. There is indeed a covenant but these can be overturned. Should the place fall into disrepair and the area become largely idle with no one wanting to run a sports stadium there then this can be used to change the covenant • The continued existence of the restrictions would impede the reasonable use of the land for public or private purposes without any benefit to other people. Like you I seriously doubt a new stadium will ever be built and the ACES seem reasonably secure for a few years at the dog track but I fully expect that within 5 to 7 years that the stadium will be gone
  3. Indeed Arthur, I didn't suggest for a minute that it would be immediate closure, I said its day are numbered, which is clearly the case. Bottom line is though that the site hasn't been purchased with a view to it remaining as a stadium long term. To be honest though I can't see what they would build there at this moment, a few years ago I would have thought it ripe for a supermarket but with a new Tesco over the road, Asda only a few hundred yards away and an Aldi within spitting distance can't see that now. Gorton struggles to sell the houses it currently has and really cant see a need for more and certainly not high end type property, it isn't the right area. The "close proximity to the city centre" line does lead you to believe the site will eventually be housing but perhaps it has a few years left as a stadium although for certain investment will be zero and the place will be allowed to crumble
  4. Thats very good for you Ian. Looks like you have got yourself a decent scriptwriter at last
  5. Looks like Kirky Lane,s days are numbered http://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/news/archive/15505-belle-vue-greyhound-stadium-sold.html
  6. Thats exactly what happened with darts. The 250 old timers who watched in the old best of order days were totally lost to the sport. Luckily for Barry Hearn the 11,000 who replaced them were some consolation
  7. Indeed you did, for the very reason Sidney pointed out, variety of tracks. Exeter being the prime example but, as Sidney says, there were other. Ian Cartwright was often an 8 point man but it was made up of a 10 point average round the Shay and 6 elsewhere. Newport, Hull, Wimbledon etc all produced a good advantage for the guys who rode there and as a visitor you really only went to these places once a year so it took years to master them
  8. I wonder if I say it a third time if it will still be funny
  9. But when you factor in various changes you will see why John Davis wouldn't have a 9 point plus average today. For instance an average of 10 bonus points are score per match, 5 per team adding 0.7 to every riders average, give or take. As the number one John Davis would have only met the opposition number 1 once in a match and he would likely have had choice of gate over his team mate each time. He wouldnt have ridden in a heat 15 against the top two from each team guaranteeing that one of them would be last making a big dent in his average The simple fact is if todays riders had ridden under the format of the 70s they would have had the averages of the 70s riders and vice versa.
  10. Don't suppose you would consider carrying that on into the season by any chance
  11. To be fair that was the night after Tommy Jansson was killed and Somerton Park was not the safest track about. I dont recall any other occassion where PC ducked a match there. He wasnt alone in his dislike of newport, Malc Simmons wasnt a fan either!!
  12. Can't speak for Moxey but I certainly did. PC was (and still is) my all time favourite and the accolade is well deserved
  13. You really think this is Emil's decision. The lad is clearly being used and having his ambitions sacrificed because of it.
  14. Are you having trouble reading. The list is prize money for each GP. First place getting $12,000 dollars down to $3400.00 for last place. It isn't appearance money in the slightest
  15. There is no start and point money in the SGP, it is as shown above. $1000 dollars is only for the track reserves really though. The worst a regular competitor should get is $3400.00
  16. The prize money is near as dam identical, although it is broken down as points money rather than finishing position. I believe it is 450 euros per point and 650 per point in the final. Nice pay a small addition to that I assume though that one sport pay this and pay a much (much) smaller fee to the FIM edit, beaten to it by severnsider
  17. But Schlein hasn't, and probably has no intention of doing, applied for a UK passport. The whole thread is nonsense. We may as well discuss Greg Hancock riding for team GB, it has as much validity. It all stemmed from a p!ss poor article on the speedway GP website but even though it has been pointed out numerous times that it is nonsense people still carry it on
  18. Now don't try and deny it, I am growing on you aren't I. I have noticed a few likes from you just lately!!! Don't get any ideas though, it changes nothing, I still think you're a wally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Make a note of the time and date Ian speaks some sense, a monumental date in history
  20. You miss the point completely. It is in the value of the product to the club not the individuals ability to pay.
  21. Numerous times it would seem (3AM) and it is totally inconsiderate. Have a look at most motorsports circuits and see the restrictions imposed on them. Brands Hatch in particular have only limited days and hours when engines can sound. They, like every other circuit in the land adhere to those conditions rigidly because almost certainly a breach would see them closed down. That said I expect the owners have enough common decency not to be making noise through the night with or without restrictions. The owners of Mildenhall don't appear to give two hoots for the neighbours and appear to have got what they deserve.
  22. He isn't even able to represent the team GB, like I said it is the passport that counts. It appears he is applying for an ACU license rather than the MA one. He no doubt has no desire or intention to represent team GB, its just an ill informed article the people seem to be running with.
