You better tell UEFA then that the Champions League is just a gimmick. Or tell the football league that the play offs are just a farce They obviously didn't realise, no wonder no one goes to watch these events Oh hang on a minute

Sadly passed away earlier this year
-
Indeed. Particularly for any Eastbourne fans. They have already paid £25.00 to see their match but are now told it will be another £8.00. Actually if you just take a copy of this The turnstiles will be open by 6pm with the first fixture, versus Lakeside, due to get underway at 7pm, the agreed admission prices of Adults £25; Concessions £18, Children £10 and under 12's free will cover both meetings. It clearly states that the £25.00 will cover both meetings so you need not pay anymore for the rearranged Eastbourne fixture

To be honest though, as much as it is galling to admit, but I expect Darcy to be dealt with leniently. There is no question he is box office and for the GP to be without Emil and Darcy next season would be a bit of a disaster. If they want him in next year it means they can't ban him for the rest of this year, be a bit of a farce to do that then hand him a wild card. I suspect a monetary penalty and a token arrangement where he is subject to routine breath tests at each match he rides in. Before anyone jumps down my throat that isn't what I would suggest, I would throw the book at him, but it is second guessing what may happen
-
Yes I realize that. I was merely questioning the fact that the modern race suits, although universally referred to as such, are in no way Kevlars
-
How has the term "Kevlars" come to be used in Speedway. The suits are in the main cheap nylon with a bare minimum (if any) percentage of Kevlar in them.

It hasn't even been 4 days yet

As devastating as it must have been to hear it is in no way "mitigating circumstances" for failing a breath test. Middlo should have just kept his mouth shut. Going into print reaffirming the mitigation bit was always going to look silly when the real reason came out. It is just another case of Middlo having a mouth a few minutes ahead of his brain.
-
Would it be OK if everyone sent proofs of their posts to you prior to posting in order for you to deem it suitable or not.
-
Middlo already knew the supposed "bad news" that mitigated Darcy attempting to race whilst over the limit. He clearly feels that the news of a parents break up is mitigation. Like I said earlier Middlo is, and long has been, Darcy's worst enemy. The constant pandering to him has likely been a major factor in the way he is today.

No because the first pint (2.5 units) will start disappearing from your body within an hour and will be totally gone 2.5 hours later. By midnight a number of those 12 pints will already be clear of your system. It isn't a precise science, it depends a lot on the person but in that scenario I would personnally leave the car alone the next day altogether unless I had a speedway GP to ride in, in which case I would be on my way within an hour or two.
-
No it is because there is a difference between the simple mistake Lioness made and the talking total sh!t that you do
-
This is a serious bid for the forum idiot title. Starman is going to have to work hard to regain it after your posts on this thread
-
Correct
-
The body gets rid of alcohol at roughly 1 unit per hour. A pint is approx 2.5 units. It also takes an amount of time to enter your system. If you drink 5 pints between 8PM and midnight then it will be mid day before that alcohol has left your system.
-
It all depends. Had you tampered with the silencer on your car as well. I could forgive the driving while while drunk but a defective silencer, never
-
Are you for real. It is breaking the rules to have an excessive amount of alcohol in your body and intending to race with it. Do you really think we are talking about one or two beers here. To still be in his system at 1 or 2PM the next day Darcy will have consumed a good amount and quite likely late into the evening. Totally inappropriate for a sportsman anyway
-
I could go out and buy a silencer and sit in my garage doing whatever I like to it, I could drill the inside of it out, why I could pepper the whole thing full of holes if I like. Nothing illegal in that I could, if I liked, get totally drunk while doing it, down a case or two of beer and have a really nice time, nothing illegal there. Now the bit that seems to escaped your senile mind is the minute I attempt to do either of those things, to whatever small degree, whilst participating in a sport whose rules expressly forbid it I will be in bother. Of course Darcy could use the fact that "Ray Stadia would have done the same" as his defence but I can't see it getting him very far

The Future Of The Elite League
oldace replied to SarahLapworth's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Years ago myself and Moxey were probably the only two dissenting voices on here. More often than not we were met with the old "if you don't like it don't go" type speech. Of course now that trickle of lost fans has turned into a tidal wave, ironically a number of those now not attending and voicing dissatisfaction are the ones who took exception all those years ago. It is well and good looking for new fans, but if the current fare doesn't even appeal to those with an obvious affinity to the sport what chance it will appeal to newcomers. The establishment of speedway are largely to blame. Promoters have gone on believing they have a divine right to custom who should turn up no matter what, they completely lost sight of the notion of competing for the leisure dollar. A few lost fans did't matter, just up the admission cost a bit and all will be OK. As things got worse fans were (still are) convinced that none of it is the clubs fault. It is, after all, far easier to find excuses to do nothing than get off your arce and do something. You only need read some of Tsunamis posts to get an idea of all that's wrong with the sport. As for me, what would get me back? In truth probably nothing. I have moved on and my time is spent doing other things. For me I never cared if the promotion made, or lost a fortune. All I cared about was a value for money night out. For a long time speedway provided that. The result certainly never mattered, nor did league position (although I appreciate it does to many) Even the standard of racing isn't the be all and end all. A poor match racing wise can be masked if the whole show is well presented and slick. A match should be a steady 90 mins of entertainment, not 15 one minute bursts of action with 4 mins dead time between each. -
But then where do you draw the line. Yes you could allow 10 seconds extra, it takes longer to do the exclusion and get going again after all, but then wahat about the guy who is 15 seconds out, its only 5 seconds over the additional 10 seconds so common sense should apply ? OK but then the guy who is 25 seconds later than the two minutes !!!!!!! It is far easier to have set parameters and stick to them than have a loose 2 mins that can stretch to 3. Problem being as the rules are always only loosely applied by most refs (you might say they usually use a bit of common sense) then when one comes along who decides to apply them rigidly we end up with last night. I don't disagree with what Dave Robinson was doing but it might have been an idea for him to brief the riders beforehand on his methods. If ultimately it gets rid of the tiresome antics before each race the I endorse his stance. Sadly the early showing on this made a bit of a mockery of a TV match. Shades of Frank Ebdon in 1984

15.3 The time from the finish of a heat to the start of the next shall not exceed 5 minutes (including the 2-minute allowance) except if the Referee allows extra time for Track Maintenance or other valid reason. Where a re-run is necessary due to non-compliance with SR15.3.4 the 2- minute allowance shall be given following a 1 minute delay. The time allowance will be shown on a Countdown Clock if present, which must be used and strictly adhered to at all Televised Meetings or by way of an audible siren and flashing amber lamp. 15.3.4 Riders must be either “ready to race” or provided the Rider is in the correct Gate Position and is “under the control of the Start Marshal” within the permitted Time Allowance. Failure to comply is a Starting offence. Additionally it is a Starting offence to a) not comply with the Start Marshal instructions, wrongly prevent the raising of the Start gate or © if any part of the motorcycle touches or breaks the tapes after the Green Starting Light has been displayed. The ref applies the rules exactly as laid down and he is incompetent.
