  1. No one suggested different. Entirely the individuals choice. This is however a discussion forum and as far as I can see people have been discussing the merits or otherwise of such collections. Maybe you should get yourself made a moderator and you can delete discussions not to your liking, or simply take your own advice re the discussion Contribute if you want to, if you don't that's fine
  2. Maybe someone could start a collection fund to buy him some
  3. Riders can only ride in the SWC for the country who issue their passport. Lambert, as far as i know, is British and has no claim on a German passport. He, like everyone else, can't simply change nationality
  4. Is this for real. A self employed tradesman has damaged his work clothes and now someone wants to raise money to pay for them.
  5. Indeed. although in 1978 there were 4 guaranteed places given over to the Brits albeit we used the British Final to determine those 4. In truth though that was harsh because although we had 4 seeded places, it was of course only 4 so no matter how many quality Brits were around only 4 could possibly be at Wembley. Even worse a spoonful of sugar in this case didn't help the medicine go down but robbed PC of one of those 4 places
  6. We seem to have some irony on here Sidney and Ian have long been telling us that it is not a proper world championship if every rider hasn't qualified (even though that situation never happened) and that it didn't matter if big stars missed out (Olsen 76/Collins 78 etc) because that was fair to all. Now we have Darcy Ward who hasn't qualified or been given a wild card but this somehow reduces the SGP (in reality it does) because the best riders in the world aren't there. Which one is it guys
  7. Everything about the Eurosport broadcast is better except the bit in the break between each 4 heats. I prefer the Heuwen bit on Sky but Eurosport do the rest of the coverage so much better, in fact I might e mail congtatulating them
  8. So are the GPs on SKY or not. Piss poor communication this, I am going to e mail SKY and find out what the hells going on
  9. Green was introduced instead of white about 8 or 9 years ago, it was to do with sky if I recall but only lasted a year or two before white came back When there are six rider races (Ivan Maugers farewell was one such meeting) the extra 2 colours were green and black/white)
  10. I have a similar problem if anyone can help. Up to recently I have been stealing quite a lot of my groceries from Sainsbury's but they have upped security recently so its more difficult. Does anyone know of a supermarket where I could easily get away with stealing hundreds of pounds of goods each week. Incidentally before anyone jumps on me I only steal items I would not have bought otherwise so it isn't harming the stores in any way
  11. Up to and including the JAP engine a speedway bike revved at possibly half the revs of a modern engine. The JAP, in particular was good at generating straight line speed but it didn't want to go round corners, the lack of revs gave it a tendency to want to drag you out near the fence, especially on the deeper tracks of the day. It had to be laid very low to get round bends The advent of the 4 valvers gave riders massively more rpm (not necessarily mph) and were a totally different beast to ride and in the hands of inexperienced riders could cause more accidents. Those extra revs though make the bike much easier (and therefore safer) to ride. As times have gone on new short stroke motors with super lightweight flywheels mean the bikes have a very limited power band, it will only work right at the top of its revs and it takes very little in the way of dirt on the track to kill the motor and therefore point the rider the wrong way.
  12. In the UK, very likely, but the Sydney Showgrounds must have claimed many many more lives
  13. I can recall 5 deaths at Hackney. Dusty Haigh was killed there in the 30s but between 1972 and 1989 it claimed Allan Clegg, Vic Harding, Denny Pyeatt and Paul Muchene. A shockingly dangerous track, even by the much lower standards of the time
  14. Exactly that. Who on earth is advising Darcy. With his obvious lack of intelligence he should be kept away from social media for his own good. A carefully worded contrite response to the verdict would have gone some way to starting to rebuild his reputation, instead he chooses to play the victim card. He really appears to have learned nothing
  15. Hackney was a death trap. Any rider with an ounce of self preservation stayed on the line. Yes if you brave (mad) enough there was a decent line out wide but you ran the risk of hitting someting liable to do harm if it went wrong. In a list of genuinley good race tracks Hackney would be a long way down
  16. If anything it escalated after Katowice. If I recall Erik was rather scathing of the way Hans passed (rode right through) Tommy Knudsen. Didn;t he liken him to a stock car racer.
  17. Not as regards Darcy but Gustix seems to have taken a turn for the worse
  18. I take it you responding to "Pugwash" or have I misunderstood Could you please clarify. Also when you say Tai Woffinden are you referring to the 2013 World Champion, ex of Wolves or have I again misunderstood. You really need more clarity in your posts
  19. It was the fact that Erik had the personal arrangement with Ole Olsen while Ole was Danish team manager that Hans had the issue with. It escalated to the point where Ole didn't even select Hans for the a test match at Coventry (he did name him as non riding reserve) The whole thing seemed to get a little silly later on, in the media anyway, when it seemed as if it was Ivan and Ole fighting for a world title rather than the two riders
  20. Michael, like Darcy, went off the rails largely due to people indulging and condoning his foolishness, although Cyril Crane was nowhere near as bad as Middlo. Like I have said many times in the past, Darcy didn't need Middlo to be his friend, he needed him to be a mentor/manager and bring him down a peg or two when his antics got out of hand. Sadly though Neil seemed happy to accept each more serious misdemeanour's as they came along and make excuses for them rather than condemn. To a young lad in his teens it must have seemed to Darcy that he was untouchable, no matter what I do I can get away with kind of thinking I imagine, under a promoter/manager like Major Fearnley or the CO or even in modern times maybe Pete Adams then Darcy may well have had a world title or two under his belt by now. For Lee his going off the rails spelt the end of what could have been a glittering career but it still isn't too late for Darcy. If he gets rid of the apologists who want to worship his every move and surrounds himself with the right people he could recover from this and still go on to achieve big things in the sport. it is a big IF though
  21. The ruling has been made and as such there is no debate, Kings Lynn now top the 2014 league table. Of course it then gets a bit more complicated as to where you go with the new reality. . Of course Poole picked Kings Lynn and eliminated them and that, as things now stand was unfair, but in truth there are only 2 options really. 1 Do nothing and leave things as they are (the likely, and really the most sensible option) 2 Declare the play off competition void and have no winner of the 2014 play offs, reverting to the league table to determine league champions making the winners Kings Lynn. Either way the FIM have made the situation worse with this silly decision to backtrack to Wards riding in the period between offence and suspension. Whether you think its right or not he was not banned or suspended at that time and was legally used in those matches so it would have been easier all round if they had not referenced making those results null and void
  22. So on the one hand you think team riding should be rewarded then on the other hand you suggest massively penalising riders and teams that do it. Take a 45 all draw, team A wins every race, team B secures every 2nd and 3rd place. For team A they are bang on the 42 combined team points, the promoter, if he wished, could keep that team together next year and he has only had to pay out for 45 points For Team B however this is 56 points combined team average points on top of paying out an extra 15 points compared to team A If team B repeat this scenario every match they would be the best part of 14 points over the permitted 42 team average and woul have to be decimated the next year. You actually have it completely the wrong way round. Not including BP for team building is rewarding riders and teams, not punishing them
