  1. Were they not a supplier of formal evening garments worn by members of the freemasons back in the 80s. They were from Glasgow if I remember rightly
  2. Just what the forum was short of, another self appointed police officer telling us all what we can and cant ask. Maybe John Leslie can send future posts to you to proof read before posting and you can then give your approval, or otherwise Incidentally this forum has a built in system to tell you if your posts are half witted or not and all three of these have fallen foul of it
  3. Ok we will rule him out then in light of this new evidence, which wally suggested him in the first place
  4. Its all we have to go on at this stage though. Ron Mason is in the frame here, get him pulled in for a little chat Its like the sweeney this aint it
  5. Ok John no problem, i will hold off with my enquiries until we get a further lead from daveallen81 All this could have been avoided if the op made it clear who he was referring to couldnt it
  6. Assumption is the mother of all cock ups. I will continue my investigation till we get a firm id Is he/she wearing glasses?
  7. [quote name="gustix" post="2588063" timestamp="1427017938 I now understand the rider's name to be Mason Wear - I originally thought that was the name of a sponsor company! How do you do it Holmes, excellent deducing there. I had it down to five suspects who the mystery riders id was but you beat me to it
  8. No one suggested different. Entirely the individuals choice. This is however a discussion forum and as far as I can see people have been discussing the merits or otherwise of such collections. Maybe you should get yourself made a moderator and you can delete discussions not to your liking, or simply take your own advice re the discussion Contribute if you want to, if you don't that's fine
  9. Maybe someone could start a collection fund to buy him some
  10. Riders can only ride in the SWC for the country who issue their passport. Lambert, as far as i know, is British and has no claim on a German passport. He, like everyone else, can't simply change nationality
  11. Is this for real. A self employed tradesman has damaged his work clothes and now someone wants to raise money to pay for them.
  12. Indeed. although in 1978 there were 4 guaranteed places given over to the Brits albeit we used the British Final to determine those 4. In truth though that was harsh because although we had 4 seeded places, it was of course only 4 so no matter how many quality Brits were around only 4 could possibly be at Wembley. Even worse a spoonful of sugar in this case didn't help the medicine go down but robbed PC of one of those 4 places
  13. We seem to have some irony on here Sidney and Ian have long been telling us that it is not a proper world championship if every rider hasn't qualified (even though that situation never happened) and that it didn't matter if big stars missed out (Olsen 76/Collins 78 etc) because that was fair to all. Now we have Darcy Ward who hasn't qualified or been given a wild card but this somehow reduces the SGP (in reality it does) because the best riders in the world aren't there. Which one is it guys
  14. Everything about the Eurosport broadcast is better except the bit in the break between each 4 heats. I prefer the Heuwen bit on Sky but Eurosport do the rest of the coverage so much better, in fact I might e mail congtatulating them
  15. So are the GPs on SKY or not. Piss poor communication this, I am going to e mail SKY and find out what the hells going on
  16. Green was introduced instead of white about 8 or 9 years ago, it was to do with sky if I recall but only lasted a year or two before white came back When there are six rider races (Ivan Maugers farewell was one such meeting) the extra 2 colours were green and black/white)
  17. I have a similar problem if anyone can help. Up to recently I have been stealing quite a lot of my groceries from Sainsbury's but they have upped security recently so its more difficult. Does anyone know of a supermarket where I could easily get away with stealing hundreds of pounds of goods each week. Incidentally before anyone jumps on me I only steal items I would not have bought otherwise so it isn't harming the stores in any way
  18. Up to and including the JAP engine a speedway bike revved at possibly half the revs of a modern engine. The JAP, in particular was good at generating straight line speed but it didn't want to go round corners, the lack of revs gave it a tendency to want to drag you out near the fence, especially on the deeper tracks of the day. It had to be laid very low to get round bends The advent of the 4 valvers gave riders massively more rpm (not necessarily mph) and were a totally different beast to ride and in the hands of inexperienced riders could cause more accidents. Those extra revs though make the bike much easier (and therefore safer) to ride. As times have gone on new short stroke motors with super lightweight flywheels mean the bikes have a very limited power band, it will only work right at the top of its revs and it takes very little in the way of dirt on the track to kill the motor and therefore point the rider the wrong way.
  19. In the UK, very likely, but the Sydney Showgrounds must have claimed many many more lives
  20. I can recall 5 deaths at Hackney. Dusty Haigh was killed there in the 30s but between 1972 and 1989 it claimed Allan Clegg, Vic Harding, Denny Pyeatt and Paul Muchene. A shockingly dangerous track, even by the much lower standards of the time
  21. Exactly that. Who on earth is advising Darcy. With his obvious lack of intelligence he should be kept away from social media for his own good. A carefully worded contrite response to the verdict would have gone some way to starting to rebuild his reputation, instead he chooses to play the victim card. He really appears to have learned nothing
  22. Hackney was a death trap. Any rider with an ounce of self preservation stayed on the line. Yes if you brave (mad) enough there was a decent line out wide but you ran the risk of hitting someting liable to do harm if it went wrong. In a list of genuinley good race tracks Hackney would be a long way down
