  1. What has rules and a league title got to do with each other. People want to watch matches that mean something, it is why Cardiff is 40,000 and training schools get no one watching. The more meaning a match has the more people want to see it. Hence calling a meaningless match with a fancy name fools no one,
  2. Yeh, could maybe call it the Craven Shield, the Premier League could have the same and call it the Young shield. That will definitely fill the terraces, I for one cant see the public not rising to that idea, they are all too stupid to see it is still just dog sh!t wrapped in glitter aren't they
  3. Your idea of fair and proper is if it was done in the 70s it is fair and proper Fair is simply winning under the prevailing rules. Is it fair and proper that a team can provide 14 out of 15 race winners and lose the match. Is it fair and proper that a tennis player can win nearly twice the amount of points as his opponent but lose, is it fair that a rugby team can score more tries than the opposition and not win. The answer is of course it is because those are the rules that every team began the competition knowing. For the millionth time topping the table in Sept (or Aug/July/June etc) doesn't make anyone the "true" champion because none of that is the criteria for being league winners, it is just some made up nonsense by a few on here. By all means disagree with the play offs, that's your choice, but there has not been one logical reason put forward as to how they could affect crowds adversely, OK there was the bloke who used to like going to a match between 5th and 6th place teams when there was nothing riding on it but doesn't like that scenario now the same match is massively important !!!!!!!!!!!
  4. But in speedway, historically no one is remotely interested in any team title outside of league champions. You can give it the fanciest name you like but no one is interested. I agree about some form of advantage for the team that finishes top. The difficulty in speedway though would be gauging a system to give an advantage without rendering a tie unwinnable for the handicapped team and the detrimental effect on the crowd that brings
  5. I think Belle Vue were the true champions last year because we had the nicest race suits. Well if others can put there own spin on who is the true champion why not me, and mine is no more ridiculous. The "true" and only champions are the exact same in every sport across the whole world. That being the team that wins under the prevailing rules. Being top of the league in September is no more a criteria for being league champions than having nice race suits. I fancy a few teams have been saved from going to the wall this year by the play offs. By end of May the Aces season would have been over and it would have been empty terraces at Kirky Lane, fortunately with something still to aim for crowds stayed up and as that target got more achievable increased even more. Even Wolves gained by having a bumper crowd for the double header with the Aces. How many would have paid to see that match with nothing riding on it. It is a silly argument though as to whether the majority prefer play offs or not, the evidence is right there in front of your eyes, 4000 at Belle Vue tells you the public are massively in favour
  6. My apologies, I have just re read the post that I commented on. I misread your post
  7. I haven't missed the point in the slightest. The SGP is available to watch on live TV, in much the same way live speedway is available at Belle Vue on a Monday or a few pints are available in your local. It is entirely your choice as the whether to avail yourself of any option. You are not forced to do any. If the service is of interest to you at a price you are prepared to pay the buy it, if not don't
  8. Don't you listen He has a tattoo of a koala bear on his back, likes Fosters lager, and knows their national anthem !!!!!!!!!!! Any 2 of those three is enough to make someone an Aussie
  9. But doesn't Nick Morris have dual nationality due to a British parent. What has that to do with Tai Woffinden
  10. You can read more about lists here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List
  11. And if you don't pay admission money to go in to Belle Vue you may never see live speedway again, no one forces you,
  12. Really, has BT sport become compulsory now then. You don't "have to pay" a single penny. All you have to do is make a lifestyle choice. Haven't you heard about his tattoo
  13. You really are so far removed from reality that your opinion is worthless I am afraid Ian
  14. It is an odd one that isn't it. The public dont want play offs yet the self same public turn out in their droves to watch them. You might want to re think that one
  15. And the same reason Peter Collins chose England, the same reason Ole Olsen chose Denmark, the same reason Rickardsson chose Sweden. FFS what is wrong with some people, you dont "choose" who to represent in the swc, it is laid down in the rules, and as daft as it might seem, if you are British you represent Britain. To represent Australia yoh must be Australian, an ability to sing the national anthem and a tattoo of Australia on your backside wont do it.
  16. Failing to observe the national anthem isn't a crime that needs punishing, it isn't a crime of any kind. It is simply a personal choice. Beating up a squaddie is a crime, and a disgusting one at that, so punished or not, jerran hart is still low life scum not fit to breathe the same air as the rest if us
  17. Do you have any grasp of what gives a person their nationality? Tai may call Aussie home, he may love the place with all his heart, he may well wish he was an Aussie, he might know their anthen word for word, he might even have a tattoo of dame edna on his arse. The only thing that lets him down in this perceived desire to be aussie is the simple FACT that he is British. You know, born and spent his early years in britain, british parents and grand/great grandparents. It could be handy for you to remember that, might save you from making a t!t of yourself any further
  18. Very petty isn't it John, all he did was mob handed, with a bunch of equally contemptible cowards, beat up a british soldier and robbed him and people are still getting on his back over it. Any news on when he is getting released by the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Unless it is listed, then it is not usually necessary for planning permission to knock down a building. The planning permission is only needed to rebuild and with a derelict eyesore of a piece of land is often granted. Long Eaton/Dudley Wood etc
  20. Spoken as someone who didn't witness the White City staged WTC finals of 1976, 1979 and 1982. Played out in front of a dismal crowd because England failed to qualify
  21. If it is simply a bed for the night, or two, then any of the outlying areas are fine, in fact many districts can offer a nice evening out. But if you really want to make a weekend of it get yourself into the city centre, you wont be disappointed. I am beginning to sound like the tourist board now!!!
