  1. Good luck to the Kings 2nite! Can't make it due to work  Really hoping 2nite is the night we break our duck! Would be typical as I'm not there to see it!!! LOL! Anyway best of luck lads! Will be keeping up with it on the old twitter feed!
  2. Thanks for the update Nikko. Much appriciated. As i said when i first put the subject of moving up to PL was only a discussion topic? Just interested to see peoples views etc? I for one am behind whatever you guys decide. Good to hear about the sponsorship plans for the air fence too? I see other tracks are doing lots of bits to help raise the money, im sure any ideas to help would be supported by us the supporters to do our bit to help too?
  3. Great to see Steve top scoring last nite for the select team! Looked like there was some good riders there too so more than held his own. With regard to Gustix's post about Steve, yes we know he should be riding and performing like he is with his experience etc but there was always gonna b that little bit of worry as to whether he came back so good after the time out he had? But was certainly no need to worry with the performances he's putting in? Also waco if that is the plan then seems a very sensible one to me? My only worry is keeping the crowds going with another year of NL racing unless we can put a good strong side together? Also does anyone know whats happening regarding the air fence for next season? Notice a few of the teams are doing fund raising stuff already to help towards paying for it? Didnt know if the promotion were gonna be doing a similar thing or if theyve got it in hand already? Totally agree with all tracks having it but its a lot of money to find in such a short space of time? Perhaps Nikko could fill us in if there's anything planned as im sure most of us would be happy to do our bit if needed?
  4. Exactly why i think the move up to the PL is even more tempting? I think if we go up he will stay with us as he seems to b getting a lot out of everything at the mo? Helping with track etc?
  5. Yeah totally agree aj! We've got good crowds now with a team that's struggling? If u put a decent team 2gether and higher quality racing then will surely attract more people. Ud also have the attraction of a different team each week which wud also in sure increase interest
  6. Yeah agree the curfew is a prob but with PL racing you wouldnt have so many race stoppages i wouldnt of thought due to more experienced riders? So cant see it being a major problem? Personally i prefer the quickness the meetings are done at the moment? Not a fan of bein kept hanging around? Thats the big put off with attending matches that are being shown on sky for me? That there's a lot of hanging around whilst they show replay after replay of a crash, or interviews and of course the commercial breaks? But yeah eventually would like to see the curfew raised to 9pm? Remember that Canterbury always had a 9pm curfew and always started at 7 and I cant remember one meeting not making it in time?
  7. I know we're only halfway thru the season, but was wondering if anyone had any views on next season? eg. wat league etc? Personally I think it wud b a good idea if we applied for PL? Dont know if this is jumping ahead a bit too much for the promotion but the way I see it is we've got the crowds, we've certainly got the stadium, and to be honest would people want another year of NL racing, as good as it is and as much as it brings the youngsters on etc I think the higher standard of racing would possibly bring in more people as its been proved on the sky matches that the quality is very high in the PL. Plus if we're totally honest the only way I can see us keeping Stevie Boxall is to move up to PL and have him as our number 1 before someone else snaps him up? This is only a case of opening up a new subject and seeing wat everyone thinks by the way? Not wanting to start a major row or anything or get loads of abusive comments from certain forum members? lol! But just thought it would be interesting to see peoples views?
  8. Yes u cant solely blame Adam for 2nite? But boy wats happened to him? 1st meeting ive been to for 4 weeks and cudnt believe how he looked? IM hoping its just his confidence that's been knocked after his injury cos hes a far better rider than he showed 2nite? A few disappointments for me 2nite! Firstly was a bad nite for both benji and ben so really had no chance of getting a result! Also, im sorry but i never usually criticise any of the lads on here, but Connor Coles has taken a big step backwards in my view? Was starting to improve but 2nite looked way of the pace and very nervy? Not quite sure wats happened to him but not good at all? Sam Woods looked poor at the start but improved in his last 2 rides. As for Steve! Well just a purr class act and a privilege to watch him go round the place! How much lower can he get the track record in the coming weeks? Was disappointing result 2nite but just one of those nites. Gotta say well done to Jon Armstrong too in lowering Steve's colours in ht15! Race of the nite! Sorry i forgot to mention Jack Kingston!! Was prob the highlight of evening? Looked really good and well on pace every race and battled every race! Very encouraging indeed and a credit to him for coming back from the nasty injury he had and showing wat he cud b capable of!
  9. Does the NL work the same as other leagues in averages are worked out each month and team positions change according to that? If so then even tho Steve will still b at number 1 he wont have an 11+ average so that wud then give us more points to play with?
  10. A very enjoyable meeting and so, so close to that elusive 1st win! Think it was a very fair result tho as neither team deserved to lose but still a shame we couldnt grab the win. As has already been said the new boys really made no difference but hopefully with Mark Baldock he will improve as he gets used to track etc? I think we're so close to that 1st win now as our top 3 are starting to gel and strongly believe Adam is going to be a good 2nd string for us? Will be interesting to see how he gets on once in the main body of the team tho, but he is improving all the time and a real battler. Thought the 5-1 with him and Ben was a great bit of team riding by Ben? He just let Adam go out and win and kept the buxton 2 behind. Really good to see at this level. Hopefully with Steve and Benji we will have our own version of the "Turbo Twins" lol! Crowd looked healthy again and all credit to the promotion for keeping things ticking along nicely. As i walked into the main stand I also saw Sam woods walk past me with a mate so its good to see theres no hard feelings or anything. Roll on next Monday!
  11. Just wanna re-iterate above comments from people there last nite? Not been for couple of weeks dur to work and money but noticed a vast improvement of the track and of the riders? Adam looks a totally more confident rider now! Well on pace and not afraid to dig in? Poor guy must b black and blue again tho!!! Thought Connor was most improved and seems to of gone up a gear. Ben as others have said had a nitemare start but last 3 rides looked very good and can see him and Steve battling it out for the number 1 jacket all season. Was very impressed with benji too! Whether u agree with the David mason situation i have to say i think he will strengthen us as looks a lot better and gives us 3 heat leaders now? Sam woods is still finding it hard but he does look more on the pace now so just a case of building his confidence up now and now track is better that will hopefully come? As for jack, just so glad he got up and walked away from that! Very spectacular and frightening crash and was worried for him for a while but hopefully a speedy recovery now? All in all i really think a win is just around the corner! Just need that bit of luck and we'll b there!
  12. Just got back from meeting. well that was a lesson given out by IOW! Must say they look a class team and will defo b up there challenging? As ive already said boxall and Morley r our definate top 2! Boxhall was flying and shame he packed up in 3rd ride when on double points? Ben looked sharp too and was a definite improvement from Adam Kirby i thought? Sam woods in afraid to say is well behind at the moment? Well off pace? One who has disappointed me a bit so far too is David mason? Was expecting a bit more from him but not showing too much at mo but hopefully in time it will cone 2gether? Its gonna take time for things to happen with this team and i hope everyone will stick by them? I will but just giving my opinions but not meaning them to b a slagging off or anything? Crowd looked good 2nite too? Not sure on figure but still had a bit of a queue getting out of car park! Looking forward to next week already!
  13. Id love to see him the whipper go out there and try to do better? Its all fair enough having opinions etc but gotta give encouragement too surely? Yeah the lads r inexperienced and its a new track but how else do they get the experience unless theyre put out there? I think theyre both gonna do fine eventually and with Steve boxall and David masons help and guidance think they cud both develop well which is wat the NL is all about? Lets get behind ALL the team and not write anyone off after 1 meeting?
  14. Wow!!! Wat a great day! An AMAZING crowd! 3000 at least im hearing? Seriously impressed with the whole place and the way everything is being run! Yeah sure there were a few glitches 2day like PA and must say i thought track was a tad bumpy on 3rd and 4th bend but nothing that cant be sorted out im sure? Meeting itself took a while to get going wat with the incidents in first 3 heats but all in all i thought it was a good first match and hopefully for the newbies there the whole day has encouraged them to come along again. Shame the team lost but it was first match on a brand new track and to be honest would imagine nerves got to a few of the young lads with the size of the crowd watching them? Wouldnt imagine they have ever or will ever ride in front of that sort of crowd again? Steve Boxall and Ben Morley look like bein undisputed top 2 for us with David Mason backing them up well? Must say that Jack Kingston impressed me a bit? He seems a good gater? Just gotta learn to stay on now as lost a couple of 2nd places due to falling off when by himself but again new track and all that so will all come in time? Connor Coles looked steady and think there's plenty of improvement to come from him? Poor Adam Kirby must be black and blue 2nite!!! took a couple of nasty falls but fair play he got up from them, so cant really say much about him. Only one to disappoint me a bit was Sam Woods? Seemed good on his 1st ride and then rest of the day looked miles off the pace and very shakey etc? Think theres a lot of work to do there but again time will tell? Anyway thats just my reveiw of the day! all in all very very impressed and was great to see the legends going round before meeting! Especially Barney and co from Canterbury! Cant wait till next week and fingers crossed its another good crowd and the start of a very special era for kent speedway
  15. totally agree with u there aj i was also there and the whole team, management and all involved seemed to get on well. always a good sign when the team bond well. really looking forward to this season and am counting the hours down to monday.
  16. Don't know the figure but was a good amount i wud say? Plenty of interest anyway
  17. there's no need for that is there jim? surely we should b supporting and encouriging these kids? meeting them all last nite they seemed a nice bunch of lads and all seemed to get on well? i think the lambert situation was just one of those rumours that built up speed over the last couple of months and it was never gonna happen? but its now time to get behind the team and give them all the support they deserve. who cares if we dont go pulling up trees and win everything in first season? i think we've got a good team with probably the best number 1 in the league backed up by 2 good riders and the rest will all improve over the season. roll on monday!!!
  18. I would just like to say thanks to Nikko for a really great evening 2nite! Was great to see the track and meet the team and all the people involved in bringing the Kent kings together. Have been waiting a long time for a place to replace the crusaders and was hugely impressed by the place and now cant wait for next Monday when the first wheels r turned in anger! Gonna b great hearing the roar of speedway bikes going round that place! Thanks again to everyone involved for making the dream a reality and heres to a successful season on and off the track!
  19. hi all. not been on here for a while as not had access to pc for a while but am over the moon about speedway returning to kent! grew up as a kid at kingsmead and have waited 26 long years for a full time team to return to kent and a new place to replace kingsmead! really cannot wait!!! have to say a massive congrats to neil for the amazing work he and the rest of the team are doing to make what has been a dream become a reality. cant imagine a better place for a speedway track as have been there few times to watch greyhounds and if this all goes well the future could be fantastic and can see elite league racing and maybe more taking place! just hope the crowds turn up and support all the hard work that is being done. once again a big congrats to neil and everyone and i look forward to seeing the final product get underway on 6th may!
