Yea no doubt he will be a match winner or a dud . rather have a full fit BWD but he looked really poor and unfit v Belle Vue to be honest -

Refereeing Cock-up At Swindon V Belle Vue Ko Cup
orion replied to WalterPlinge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Being a sports fan I understand it's ref job on the day day to apply the rules and some times he will get it wrong and some one will gain from that ..the history of sport is full of these .When Newman never had his goggles on in the play off final was one of these times when it happened but I don't remember you making any comment about it ..so the question is does it only matter if it does not concern your team . -

depends what the rules were then and what they are now ..by all accounts lemon had to make it known to ref by the next heat something he never did . -
There Can Be Beauty In Simplicity...
orion replied to Chairboy's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Great post ..i doubt you would even see football have a champions league with teams that are not champions in it ..and look how easy the new offside rule is to understand . The old ts rule was much more Mickey mouse and also gave out more false results ..its the same as on most of these topics 55 to 80 year olds wanted the old rules back even thou the logic makes no sense ..wanted the old tac sub rule back is no better example . -

Any when they have changed the result of one heat ? -

orion replied to WalterPlinge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
it's Not what you ask .you said the result and outcome could not have changed .I just show you it could hence why the result should not be changed..if rosco or any team manager ask for a ruling on the night and the ref ok' s it then the buck stops with the ref -

Well without BWD in that heat who is to say that race would have panned out the same ...maybe carr would have come second ? maybe muse would have come out in the first place and won the race who knows ..the bottom line if the ref had apply the rules correctly then outcome might have not have been the same . -

So tell me why the play off final result was not changed ? sorry my opinion will always be the same the ref applies the rules on the night if he get it wrong then it's bad luck .it's up to him to stop it before hand . -

Spot on ..this is the point have been making ..the match would not have the same outcome and would run out another way if the rules were apply in correct manner that is why the result should stand . -

How long has the ref been a ref ? how long has lemon been in speedway ? as I said you cant change the result because it's not as simple as taking the two points away as if the rules had been done in a correct manner that heat and the match would have a took a completely different course and outcome . As someone has already pointed out are they going to change the play off final result from two years ago because Newman was not wearing his googles ? maybe in your book that was middlo's and newman fault for not knowing the rules .. rocky road when you start changing the refs decision after the event -

orion replied to WalterPlinge's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
The result won't be changed and quite rightly so as it's the ref fault not's swindon .It's not just as easy as taking two points away as if the ref had apply the rules swindon could have sent muse to tapes etc changing the whole course of the match etc .The bottom line the ref is at fault and the result will stay the same . -
Who said the play offs were going to eradicate meaningless matches ? no matter what sport that is never going to happen ..who said that ? what they do is make more matches not meaningless and keep more clubs seasons alive as well as giving the clubs who have done well a chance of a decent crowd at the end of season and a much needed pay out
-
? so seeing that the league can't even get a sponsor who would pay this prize money in speedway for coming 5th 6th and 7th
-
That is not how life or sport works .you do well you get the rewards or you might as well not even ride for any points or have match points .maybe in the Wimbledon they should give the same prize money to the players who got knocked out in the first round to the player who wins the event .
-
A Better question is if one team runs away with the league why would any fans bar the die hards watch any of the other matches ..it's amazing to think that fans think that with clubs seasons being over in may or early june that somehow crowds would go up overall if we went back to the old format because somehow riders and fans would be proud to finished 4th, 5th, 6th or 7th .

Swindon - Belle Vue Koc 1st Leg 14.9.17
orion replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Have to agree with everything The Civil Services greatest batsman had to say ...the worst meeting ive ever been to with more re runs than Only fools and Horses on uk gold . The pit gate being kept opened every time so riders could waste even more time . Then at 10 past 10 with two heats left they had a break for track work !. If you went to speedway tonight for the first time you were never go again .. ...Swindon as a side look like they have gone off the boil and if ride like that against Poole they will get beat ...main concerns are Doyle slow and really not up for it Bwd not fit and the flying Frenchman who looks like he's lost his form -
so if there were runaway leaders how would all the club's get there money back

Poole V Swindon Semi Final 1st Leg 11/9/17
orion replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Just spoke to rosco he's hoping to used Newman again if we race Wolves away in the final . -
Yet again if there was runaway leaders in a normal season all the matches would be meaningless and you would lose revenue without any chance of getting it back .
-
yet again tell me the difference from any other sport ? You get plenty extra in terms that you see a grand final with every rider trying a 100 % and with a chance of your team become league champions..every club is losing money and you want to stop them giving them a chance of getting some of it back .
-
Yet again nearly every final in every sport put the price up for a final but in speedway its some how a crime even thou clubs need every penny they can get to survive .
-
? Without the play offs there seasons would have petered out a lot sooner ..this subject been done to death and the thing people can never quite understand is plays offs without a league title on the line hold no interest for the fans and would run at a massive loss . And what happens if went back to the old format and a team runs away with the league ? do you expect the teams in 2nd 3rd and 4th to have better crowds ? what about the teams who or 5th and 6th this year who still had a chance to make the play offs ,do you expect them somehow to have bigger crowds under the old format once there season is over by june ?

Poole V Swindon Semi Final 1st Leg 11/9/17
orion replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think crowds are down full stop in most places.i remember having to wait before getting into Poole staduim and then finding it hard to find a spot to watch the racing .this year I just walk in 3 times and watched from where I liked..speedway is dying a very slow death in the uk and I don't think there is any cure for it no matter what format is used .
