I never like him as a broadcaster but that does not mean its not tragic or i cant show respect for someone who put a lot of his life into speedway or for his family who have lost there Dad -Husband etc So nothing to do with hypocracy at all .

The most sensible post on this forum for a long time . What is scary is people think they will get big crowds because fans from Swindon , Reading , Cov will go . that never happens in great numbers and never will . Every one who has try to run speedway at Oxford money since 2000 has lost money and broke 3 of them hence why it closed down . As arnieg said find a level that allows them to run for season after season . Talk of top league etc is insane

How can the above be true as i have already pointed out riders have signed contracts in Poland that won't allowed ride in more than two countries ... so what happen to these restraint laws there then ? .after all according to you there self employed contractors with the ability to ply there trade where and for who they want . Boxers sign with promoters but dont get paid weekly but per fight as a rule but they are still under contract they just can't go and fight for someone else If a Speedway team draws up a contract where a rider can only ride for them no one can stop them . it will be then up to the rider if he wishes to sign that contract . no diffrent to giving a self employed person a full time job for half a year .

Good that we won and even better we have some decent riders who will serve us well in the coming years but at the end of the day its a just a pairs event with a really stupid format . its hardly makes us world champions .

First of all why would a contract be illegal no one is asking for anyone to be banned . what discrimination are you on about no one is stopping the likes of Becker etc signing for a British Club the choice would be up to him . Football players sign for one club are there contracts are not classed as illegal and no one go's on about discrimination . In Poland they already have rules that limit where riders can ride in the World As for Numbers as we already spoken about that ... Speedway would be better all round and more credible sport if it was one rider one club .

Unlikely to be 17 clubs the way things are going .....you got the wrong end the stick about the riders .. we were talking about riders who only rely on riding for one club full stop in the uk at the moment (not counting the nl)not riders who have one club in the uk but ride in Poland etc

Easy to see each team have between 2 to 4 riders in the pl that don't ride in the top league or in another nations league ...the bottom line is we are heading for one big league anyhow so these riders will only have one club anyhow soon and will have a choice to be happy with only riding for one club or get another job of course

Really ? we have only got 17 teams left now with 3 or 4 in doubt ...how many riders ride at the moment overall in both leagues ? near a 100 ? sure we will lose a few of them but the numbers x riders x clubs are not that far off ... i admit its a bit of a pipe dream but by the same token its not as impossible as it sounds the way we are going . In a couple of years time we could well be down to 10 -12 teams and then it will be one big league with no double up riders anyhow . one way or a another that part of its going to happen

Depends What is more lucrative or more safe ... What we tend forget is that before these riders go to these more lucrative leagues they have to cut there teeth in the uk . It's maybe more lucrative for Woffy and Lambert to ride once a week in Sweden and Poland but not so sure about other riders of a lesser standard . i'm sure it would a tough choice for many .

Well sadly we tend to be losing 3 or 4 a year clubs a year so it wont be long when we can . Then riders can choose what they want to do

Depends how you look at it ,. imo is the the uk should have one big league and you should only be allowed to sign for one uk club and not join any outside the uk .. meaning we can run 7 days a week with no double up riders etc . Surely thats the way forward .

i think i just looked at GI history and the fact there first plan was to pulled the place down and build houses ... i think its harsh to think yourself as naive on this because they really went to town on this .. Big plans , Photo's with MP'S with Rosco , Clarke . arm and arm at council meetings etc etc .... Very hard not to think it would happen seeing how big the dream they were selling

I think most fans were never to worried about a new stadium and were more than happy to stay in the old one . Of course a new Stadium looked like it would secure a long time future for the sport in the town but of course Gam int have plotted, hoodwinked and conned every one as they do every time useing the building of the New Stadium to stop Swindon from running hoping to kill the club off so they can knock the old Stadium down with no one caring enough anymore to stop them . As i said already said its matter of time before the work will stop for some reason stopping us from running in 2023 as well
